After the smoke started to dissipate, Vegis noticed there were 4 pylons that were about a good bit away from the walls and a kind of a shimmer starting to form around the base. An energy shield was the first thing that popped into his head as he looked at the shimmer that now formed a dome over everything from the walls and anything inside of them. Active energy shields of such size were very rare since they are really power hungry. It takes the same amount of energy to open 30 warp gates for one to keep a large scale energy shield up for an equivalent time.
Over the next few days, work was canceled for clone managers since they needed a lot of hands to clean up the surface and to get all the remaining bodies. Vegis spent close to 4 hours picking up bodies during the stampede but only got 202 bodies since lots of them were buried in rubble or flung onto something. A total of 4923 bodies were recovered and only 47 were able to be revived. About half of the dead were guards from both the watch towers away from the walls and those on base. This was about a 5% decrease in staff members, which mostly hit the guards.
The guards had the largest dorm since it was both very tall and had a deep basement. This event caused the dorm to be damaged but it was still better than the annihilated dorm in the southeast. The wall was repaired first and it was relatively quick since they just needed to stack bricks for now. It would get properly fixed later but they just needed something that works right now. Most of the creatures that breached the walls seemed to be already dead but they were still on high alert since they could have burrowed into the ground and went into a torpor, making it harder for them to be detected.
Several of these creatures were discovered since they shot out of the land when the ground above them was stepped on. Oak’s clones were attacked by one of these and now they needed to get a replacement. Vegis, Mitra, and Boreal were now living in temporary housing since they didn’t have a dorm anymore. Most of the higher ups didn’t even get injured since Vegis led them to the labs. The only ones that got injured were some of the ones that were away from the dorm when the attack happened.

It has now been a week since the attack had happened. Most of the burrowing animals have been taken out and the wall is in the process of being properly repaired by skilled technicians from the archipelagos. They said it would take a month for the wall to be back to the way it was since they would need to replace or repair the electronics. After that, they would start to fix the other places.
Vegis’s clones had their position shifted from just a janitor to a temp guard until they could get more people recruited. Boreal now can conceal himself and now can explore the base but not now. Mitra spent most of her time just sleeping now since the attack damaged the connection to the LSN
Vegis was getting a new clone coming in as the stampede was happening and it just arrived. It wasn’t a normal clone, it was modified to be more of a ride. It was just a skeleton with machine bits all over it but that will be filled with flesh when it connects to Vegis. It was larger than Vegis but that was intentional. Vegis wanted it to be as strong as him but when they tried to clone his flesh in a vat, it would just die since the metals in it just killed the cells. Vegis had it like this so he could fight something without having to be there. The other clones were pretty good at fighting, but that didn’t mean they were strong. They were lacking in pure strength and struggled to fight the beasts.
