Vegis was getting checked up on any other problems and was let go after a 5 minute examination and scan. Vegis asked around the clinic if there was any way back into the lab but was told that all the entrances to the lab were closed and sealed until the next day since the stampede would likely last until dawn. Vegis decided that he would just need to help around the clinic since hiding didn’t seem like a good option. He sent a thought to Mitra telling her that he was stuck on the surface. It took a small while before she replied with a short okay. After this short interaction, Vegis asked some of the workers in the clinic if there was anything he could do to help while the stampede was still here. Each of them said the same thing every time he asked and it was corpse retrieval. Vegis nodded at this and checked on what the clones were doing and if they were busy. The clones were not doing anything at the moment since the stampede had calmed down. There were still attacks but they were weaker and had far fewer attackers. Most of the problems were that they could get inside and were messing things up. The clones were no longer needed to hold the fort and didn’t need to do anything.

So Vegis possessed V2 and talked to one of the head guards. “Hi there, I am the clone manager of these clones. Is there anything I need to do?”(Vegis) “Not that I can think of. We got everything done now, we just need to clear out all the mutants.” (Lead Guard) “Okay, do you have knowledge of where all the corpses are, I need to take them back to the clinics for record keeping.”(Vegis) “Okay. I will send you the coordinates for all of them.”(Lead Guard) V2 nodded at this and Vegis opened a map up which after a while, showed a bunch of markers that Vegis assumed where the corpses were. Most of them were located in the northeast but there were bodies all around the entire place. The clones ran to each location and grabbed 2 bodies at a time, occasionally having to fight off an animal. They had to not go fast to make sure the bodies were not damaged.

Vegis would inform the staff when the clones were close to have them prepare to receive the bodies. Once in a while, the body was just barely intact and alive enough for the docs and nurses to resuscitate them with heavy intervention. They would wake up screaming for a while. They were feeling their soul being torn apart since workers had to use more esoteric measures like time manipulation to revive them. This would make them lose some of their capabilities involving magic, but they would survive and could live a normal life. Only 1 body out of a hundred could be revived since it was pretty hard to meet the conditions for the procedure to work.

On body 201, there was a bit of movement in their chest cavity that eventually exploded, releasing a horde of fist size bats. V1 was the only clone not holding a corpse since he was the one that opened doors and fought. Vegis controlled V1 to shoot out multiple tendrils that managed to impale most of the bat things. The remaining flying things escaped and flew too fast for the tendrils to stab them. While this was happening, the other clones were told to run to the clinic even if it damaged the bodies. It took 3 minutes for them to rush to the clinic and they could see Vegis and the other clinic members that had body bags out to hold the bodies. Vegis had given the staff a run down of what happened to the bodies and that caused one of them to frown. A couple minutes after this, V1 came back while holding some of the bat things and showed them to the doc. They just shrugged at this and said that they would preserve this for research and examination.

A large cloud of fire was visible near where the hole in the wall was. In the west, the sky started to lighten and Vegis could tell that it was about to be day. In the coming hours, the clones managed to get most of the bodies but Vegis noticed that there was more activity as it got brighter. This was the opposite of what he heard should happen. Then he heard a loud crashing noise and saw blinding lights that seemed to swallow everything. After ten minutes had passed, the light dissipated and smoke could be seen over the walls.
