The sound of thousands of animals running through the wall. Vegis could hear them from the tunnels they were using and hoped they couldn’t reach the labs. The labs were the most fortified thing in each of the stations for the experiments from early on had a tendency to cause massive environmental damage. Every now and again, something bad would happen and only due to the unimaginable robust defenses of the underground labs stopped them from destroying the entire site. Vegis had to let go of all control of the clones to focus on not trampling the people as they all rushed through the tunnel. The occasional explosion made him stop and check on the situation via the eyes of the clones.
Vegis saw that there were more insectoid mutants coming from the northside and had the clones try to find a way into the lab. This was way above their skill levels and paygrade. The 3 clones headed to the northeast dorm but the building was already locked and surrounded. They couldn’t think of another way into the lab so Vegis had them continue to help the guards. They tried to look for an unlocked path up the wall but got attacked by a group of boar-like beasts. They barely managed to kill 2 of them before being overwhelmed and got saved by some guards on the wall. They dropped a rope and the clones climbed up and started to help them clear out the wall with all the corpses.
Mitra and Boreal had already reached the labs and Vegis instructed them to head down lower to the 40th floor while not being followed. During one of the days Vegis was not working and just walking around, he saw Mac doing something and decided to talk with her since he had nothing to do. In the middle of their conversation, Mac dropped a special detail that Vegis didn’t know. There is one more floor under the normal 40 basement floors of the lab. The 41st floor was something that most didn’t know about since it was half finished and was basically sealed so nobody could accidentally get into it. Mac had accidentally found a way into it via the janitor closet and had been slowly renovating it over the years for personal use. The 2 arrived in front of the closet and entered a password Vegis gave them to enter.

The door opened up and revealed a normal supply closet clone managers use to store tools they may need or replacements for broken equipment that were of low complexity. There were 2 cabinets, one with a stack of medkits and the other was fertilizer. Vegis told Mitra to press the back of the fertilizer cabinet while flipping the medkit upside down. This caused the back to move and reveal a staircase down. After the 2 of them got inside, the back slid back into place and they followed the path downward. They walked for several minutes until the staircase widened and revealed a large empty space with some furniture, fridge, and a couple of other things in the farthest corner from the stairs.
Vegis was stuck in the tunnel and couldn’t advance into the lab since the entrance was blocked due to the crowd of people somehow jamming themselves in the doorway so much, they got stuck. Vegis could not remember another way to the lab since the clones just moved through the halls by themselves and had a map on them. Vegis had to return to the basement and try to see if any of the other tunnels would lead to the lab. He tried 3 different tunnels that ended up not leading to the lab. On the fourth tunnel, the ceiling collapsed and a large mantis-like mutant fell in. As soon as it detected Vegis, it striked at mach speed, knocking him back 9 meters and causing a large bruise to form on his chest. Vegis was so close to death until a hail of gunfire turned the mutant into mush and saved him. Some of the guards entered the tunnel and dragged Vegis out. It would take only 10 minutes for Vegis to recover, but that was precious time they couldn’t use to stay still.
The southwest was the least affected area and also held a small clinic that was used for small things. The stampede attacked the north and east side of the wall with only stragglers attacking the west and south side. Vegis was put into a car and driven to the clinic to see if he had any other problems before he needed to go back outside to help.
