Vegis headed to the janitor’s lounge after spending the rest of his shift taping flyers on all the doors. When he opened the door, a loud smack could be heard and the door wouldn’t move. “Oh, sorry. Are you okay?” Said Vegis to the person behind the door. They hopped back and sat down on a chair and were swapping from holding their head and their foot. After Vegis entered the room and closed the door, they paused for a bit and said, “It's fine. I’ll be fine in a bit” Soon after they said that, their body was covered in a bright light which subsided after a minute. They got up and waved at Vegis as they walked through the door.
Vegis walked over to the pile to the left and fell asleep as he was watching some videos. When he woke up from an alarm blaring outside the door. He checked the clock and saw he had 2 hours left before his shift so he got up and stretched. The emergency lights were neon green, signifying a low threat escape attempt had happened like the thing that happened 2 days back. Vegis did his daily routine and when he was all prepped and fully awake, the alarms turned off. Vegis was glad at this since it meant he wouldn’t need to help the security team hunt down all the escapees.
He reviewed the list and saw that he would need to sedate some of the creatures for a few tests and sampling. As for some of the other tasks, they appeared to be crossed out as the clones took the initiative to do the simpler ones and he would just need to check them out to see if they were done properly. Vegis wondered which one he should do first, so he pulled out a coin and flipped it. Heads was sedate and Tails was check on the work of the clones. It landed in his hands after a second and it was heads. He called the clones to move to the 40th floor to grab tools and the sedatives.
Vegis checked the list to see which creatures and how many of each. When they arrived at floor 40, there were a pair of guards here in front of a counter with rows of weapons and drugs behind it.. They asked for Vegis’s ID and purpose here. Vegis said to the guards that he needed tranqs and rope to bring in some of the test subjects for a check-up.
They nodded at this and spoke to someone who was counting vials and had them get the items Vegis asked for. Vegis’s clones arrived at the same moment the armourer came back to the counter with multiple things of rope, nets, needle spears, and vials of various sedatives. After they put it all on the counter, they reached under the counter and got a dart gun and a pack of darts for it.
Vegis handed each clone a net, rope, and needle point spear. Vegis got the dart gun, darts, and all the sedatives, said thanks to the armourer and guards, and headed to the 38th floor. He did some light stretches before leaving the elevator and heading to the needed areas. Vegis had the clones go to the areas that had the armoured animals whilst Vegis climbed up some trees and started to shoot at the flying ones.

This went relatively fast since these creatures, whilst very strong and big, were not fast or fighters. It only took 2 hours for them to get all the required creatures on this floor and have them transported to the drop off points. The real challenge was going to be the creatures in the east wing. They had more intelligence, more willing to fight, and highly aggressive to anything they perceive as a threat. Another thing is that they had a higher likelihood to develop strange abilities compared to their more docile cousins.
Vegis went to the elevator and began swapping out the sedatives to the faster acting ones that were compatible for the ones they needed to get. As soon as Vegis got out of the elevator, he could hear banging on the walls of their containment areas. He got to the door into the area, took a deep breath, and went in. Vegis had the clones run towards him so he didn’t get jumped by the creatures in case one managed to get out.
Vegis got to the first target, a small pack of large mimic type creatures. They couldn't change their colors so they usually took the form of rocks or invaded the inside of previous victims and masquerade as them. To counteract this, their cage has a color change as a way to keep them calm in most situations but people can see them when they need to get them. The rocks inside turn from their normal gray to a bright pink.
Immediately, the mimics started to freak out since they no longer could hide and changed into a more combat focused form. Their rough rocky exterior turned smooth like polished marble and blades began to form. Vegis had the clones stab the mimics before they could fully change because they would still be soft while they change. He managed to get the three needed and dragged them out before the others could attack.
The next specimen Vegis needed to nab was a large flying beast. It was reminiscent of a wyvern except it has 2 pairs of wings instead of 1. It is unique among the mutants since it was one of the first non native fauna to be seen mutating. It was originally a pet flying lizard one of the higher ups had. It was aggressive to most people except those it thought were worthy of being in its presence which were the higher up and those who descend from him.
Vegis started by hiding himself in the brush of its cage and eliminating his scent by a self contained wall of wind around him. He then threw out a piece of meat from its favorite species to eat. When it swooped down, Vegis shot at its neck but the needle bounced off so he had the clones to throw their nets to weigh it down. It got tangled in the net so the clones managed to get near it but 2 got swiped by its tail and slammed into the wall of the area.
The one that didn’t get hit managed to stab it and activate the spear, letting the sedative go into it. After a good 10 minutes, the beast was asleep and the clones got up from the powerful blow. They dragged it to the drop off alongside the mimics. They saw the unconscious creatures being pulled up towards the testing facility and took a breath before heading towards the exit.
The creatures were more agitated due to the noises they made so Vegis and the clones hurried to leave. Vegis was done getting the smaller animals but needed to get the smaller ones that didn’t need to be speared or darted. The nets would likely be enough to get them.
