B5 | Chapter 4

  Within the Quantum Realm

Aragalia Tela Velal glances at the screen within the Quantum Archives showing the Reaper as she goes around slaughtering aquatic monsters and muttering something about the boss better not being a piranha for some reason.

The Successor to the Quantum Archon hasn’t seen the Reaper for a while now. Not in person at least.

And part of her is a little disappointed at that.

Now whether that’s because she actually wants to see the girl or because she is just curious about her and has numerous questions to ask her, she’s not entirely sure.

  Probably both.

But she still makes sure to keep an eye on her using the Quantum Archives’ omnipotent viewing System. Or near-omnipotent at least.

The only things it can’t see are those near corruption.

Everything else in existence it can see clearly.

Aragalia glances at another screen that appears. One showing the Reaper’s sister as she mutters about the Reaper running away.

It only takes a second for the Successor to understand why the girl is irritated. Considering all the things the Reaper said about her while being livestreamed to the entire Dimensional Grid.

That alone makes Aragalia thankful she doesn’t have anyone who knows her dark history.

Except maybe the Quantum Archon. But the day that man goes around spreading gossip is the day the universe ends and turns into a cake.

But more importantly, Aragalia makes sure to keep watch over the Quantum Reaper as she fights in the Tier 5 dungeon. Because this will no doubt be the only chance she will ever be able to record the events of a devourer’s ascension.

Even if her ascension is still a little ways away.

Of course, nothing ever goes so easily, and a few rifts appear around her. Following which people step through each rift without hesitation.

As if they own the place.

Which gets on Aragalia’s nerves ever so slightly, but she’s used to it.

The first to step through a rift is the Successor to the Quantum Vanguard. A man with a muscular and tall appearance wearing a set of purple armor and two swords sheathed at his waist. Meanwhile he has his usual grin wide on his face. One that only grows wider when he sees the screen she’s watching of the Quantum Reaper.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

With the other screen of the Reaper’s sister having already been closed by now.

After the Vanguard’s Successor, Voltric, steps through the Quantum Creator’s Successor. Who just walks in without a word and nothing more than a nod.

Unlike the Quantum Creator, the Creator’s Successor, Algol, is wearing a comfortable t-shirt and pants. But other than that, he has a very similar personality to the Quantum Creator.

Then there’s the Quantum Builder’s Successor, Velfelt, who charges straight through the rift with a wide grin on his face as he shouts, “Ara! Show us the Reaper!”

The man looks but doesn’t act exactly like the Quantum Builder, albeit without the black in his hair.

And the last of the four intruders, the Successor to the Quantum Cleaner, Veriveri, steps through the rift on her toes with a grin on her face. Looking just like a little girl despite being older than Aragalia.

Which slightly irritates Aragalia every time she sees her. But said ‘little girl’ never listens to anyone.

  At all.

  Not even the Quantum Cleaner.

Although the Quantum Cleaner is just as much of a pain in the ass as she is.

“Why are you watching something so interesting without us, Arara?” Veriveri asks with a pout on her face. Still acting like a child.

Aragalia grits her teeth while narrowing her eyes at the girl. Then she just turns and focuses on the screen. Deciding to ignore the group of troublemakers.

Maybe they’ll cause a mess and get kicked out by the Archon.

She hopes that happens. Because he’s the only one who has the authority to kick them out of the Quantum Archives by force.

“I want to fight her,” Voltric says with his ever present grin still on his face. “Think I can do that after she ascends? The new Architect’s Successor won’t fight me no matter what I do.”

“Crystal would devour you on the spot like she did to the first Architect,” Velfelt says with a chuckle. “You wouldn’t last a minute.”

Voltric ignores the troublemaker as he sits down next to Aragalia to watch the screen.

“Veriveri tried to befriend the devourer but got sent flying,” Veriveri says, once again making a vein throb in Aragalia’s head with her cutesy act. And this time it’s not just Aragalia but Voltric as well. “It was fun.”

Aragalia rolls her eyes and continues trying to ignore the troublemakers.

Meanwhile Algol just walks up and takes a seat next to Aragalia without a word. Which she can appreciate.

If there’s one amongst the lot that doesn’t bother her much, it would be him.

How could she be annoyed with someone who never speaks and keeps his hands to himself? Even if he does follow the others around sometimes.

  Like now.

The group continues chatting for a while as Aragalia takes notes without taking her eyes off of the screen. But eventually the topic of the conversation comes to a very important question.

Or at least the Quantum Reaper would probably think it was important.

  Aragalia doesn’t personally think so.

“Do you think the boss of this dungeon is going to be a piranha?” Veriveri asks while tapping her lips with an innocent expression on her face.

“Of course.” “What else would it be?”

Both Voltric and Velfelt answer at the same time.

Even Aragalia feels like it will probably end up being a piranha. Because no one can miss how often piranhas end up in the dungeons.

Especially in dungeons related to the Quantum Reaper, as Aragalia has noticed.

It makes me wonder if the Quantum Architect has a thing for piranhas, or if the System itself developed one after breaking free.

Either way, Aragalia doesn’t care much at the end of the day. After all, the System is still an artificial thing made by one of the Quantum Beings.

  It isn’t natural.

Plus it’s not her job to research it yet. And something about it rubs her the wrong way.

“Who wants to bet on what face the Reaper will make when she sees the boss?” Velfelt says out of nowhere, making the other two answer immediately in the positive.

Aragalia rolls her eyes again but decides to ignore the idiot trio to focus on her work.

Why did they come here again?

It’s a question she can never seem to find an answer for yet comes up often.
