B5 | Chapter 6

  Alexia

The massive scorpion quickly begins to hunt the other large monsters. Piercing its two stingers straight into two different large monsters.

My eyes widen a little when I see some sort of glowing liquid flowing through the stinger and into the monsters’ bodies. A liquid that’s glowing so brightly that I can see it through the stinger. Through the scorpion’s body.

And that very liquid begins to flow through the bodies of the two monsters the scorpion queen stung. Making those monsters gradually get slower and slower until they stop moving entirely.

Right as I’m beginning to think they’re dead, the glowing liquid inside of the monsters’ bodies begins to separate into what look like fish. A bunch of them.

The fish-shaped glowing lights begin to move around in the large monsters before literally breaking their way out, revealing them to literally be some sort of glowing fish-scorpion hybrid monsters. Which is disturbing just to look at.

  Never thought I’d see a mini-shark with scorpion claws and a stinger-tipped tail before…

What’s worse is that the mini-sharks are only about a foot long. And that there are thousands of them, all bursting out of the large monsters from each and every direction and part.

For the first time ever, I avert my gaze from the disturbing sight. Deciding to stay far away from that scorpion queen for a while.

Right. So the scorpion queen has some sort of parasitic venom. Or something like that.

To my surprise, another one of the larger wormholes suddenly explodes, following which another massive monster appears from inside of it. With this one being a massive shark with pitch black eyes and the scales of a dragon.

I identify this one as well.

  {Keltrau – The Shark King – Level 2480}

So it’s just like the scorpion. Except that it’s a shark. And a king instead of a queen.

The three-hundred-meter-long shark immediately begins charging at the large monsters around it before tearing chunks out of them with its incredibly large, numerous, and sharp teeth. Meanwhile the scorpion queen, which is only a little bit smaller than the shark, continues stinging large monsters around it and creating more of those abominations.

And the disturbing sights don’t stop there as two more massive wormholes pop, releasing two more enormous Cataclysm Class monsters at the same level as the shark king and scorpion queen. With these being a massive crab and what looks kind of like a killer whale. Except with tentacles for some reason.

  Stolen novel; please report.

Okay, what the hell is happening right now?

As if to mock my current thoughts, three more massive wormholes go pop, releasing three more Cataclysm Class monsters into the area. And at this point all the Cataclysm Class monsters are going around slaughtering the other massive monsters, who are going around slaughtering the smaller monsters.

Meanwhile I just float here wondering what I’m even supposed to do at this point.

Because there’s no way I stand a chance right now against those Cataclysm Class monsters.

Unless I can maybe find one that has a weakness I can exploit? Like a glass cannon one or something?

With that in mind, I make sure to avoid the Cataclysm Class monsters while also watching them to see if I can find a weak link amongst them. Especially as more of them continue to emerge, breaking out of their wormholes.

And something I can’t help but notice while this is happening is that all of the wormholes are gonna end up broken at this point. Which means a massive number of monsters in this area.

It also means the area itself is going to be a lot emptier in terms of actual landmarks. Or spacemarks? Either way.

Eventually I manage to find a massive jellyfish Cataclysm Class monster that’s a bit further away from the others. So I try attacking it with anti-magic bullets.

And immediately pop the thing open, leading to lightning spraying everywhere around it. Slaughtering thousands of monsters in the process as the Cataclysm Class monster itself lets out some sort of screech of pain.

  Huh. This works.

I continue popping more holes in the creature with anti-magic bullets. From a very safe distance, of course. Because I don’t want to be hit by that lightning.

And after a great number of holes I put into the monster, it finally dies, giving me a large rush of EXP and more than a few levels.

Before I can mentally celebrate the kill though, a thought crosses my mind. Making me look out at all of the wormholes.

Only to find that they’re all gone at this point.

  Except one.

The enormous wormhole at the center of it all that no doubt houses the boss of the dungeon itself.

What’s worse is that I actually see several Cataclysm Class monsters roaming around that are already at the maximum level for Tier 5.

Which makes me wonder just what level the boss will be.

And amidst that wondering, my thoughts travel back to the boss of that other dungeon I was in.

  The Horror.

A boss that was a Tier higher than the dungeon itself.

I shake my head, trying to dislodge the sinking feeling that’s currently settling into my mind.

  Please don’t…

My thoughts trail off as I realize there are over a hundred Cataclysm Class monsters now. All of whom are at least a hundred meters long. With most of them being closer to three hundred meters.

Just what the hell am I even looking at anymore…

I blankly stare at the hellhole in front of me. One filled with monsters larger than cities all chasing after smaller monsters that are chasing after smaller monsters.

  Then it happens.

The largest wormhole at the center of it all begins to fluctuate. Growing larger and smaller a few times before suddenly exploding outwards in a blinding flash of light. One so bright I have to close my eyes for a moment.

And when I open them again?

The sight that greets me is that of a massive abomination of a creature. With the body of a killer whale, tentacles of a kraken, five scorpion stingers, a lantern from whatever that fish was called, and so many more fish parts. More than I can count.

And yet it looks intimidating rather than creepy. Even as it opens its mouth to reveal what looks like a pitch black abyss. Especially with its size of what must be at least a thousand meters in length.

  {Charybdis – The Endless Maw – Level 2501}

But the first thought that crosses my mind surprisingly isn’t about its name, level, or Tier, which is clearly Ascendant Tier.

It’s that I’m at least glad this isn’t a piranha.
