B5 | Chapter 7

  Alexia

Charybdis. A name that is actually pretty commonly known in fiction. Yet never actually proven to exist anywhere.

Most likely someone saw a monster like it and created some overblown rumor about it.

Meanwhile the System seems to like naming powerful and important monsters after myths. Which is odd and interesting at the same time.

Why am I thinking about all this right now?

No idea. But it certainly beats freaking out as I teleport as far away as I possibly can from the Ascendant Tier monster in question.

As I teleport away as fast as I can, I see Charybdis tearing apart all the other Cataclysm Class monsters as if they’re all ants. Without a shred of difficulty.

Cataclysm Class monsters that I couldn’t even scratch myself.

All of which means I need to get the hell away as fast as I can before the boss turns its attention towards me.

What’s worse is that Charybdis is eating all of the monsters it’s killing. And then growing larger with every single one it eats.

Fortunately I’m not the only one running away. As most of the other monsters are all fleeing in terror as well.

Whether they’re the tiny scorpion monsters or the massive Cataclysm Class monsters. Each one is fleeing like their lives depend on it.

  Which they honestly do.

I continue teleporting further and further away from the enormous monster as it continues eating other monsters. All the way until I’m finally so far away the creature looks like just a small planet in the distance.

The idea of a monster growing to a size that it can even look like a planet from a distance is rather alarming. But considering how many other Cataclysm Class monsters and regular monsters it’s eating, I guess it’s not too surprising.

It’s horrifying. Even more so than The Horror.

At this rate there’s no chance for me to fight it. Not at Tier 5.

So I quickly begin to go around hunting monsters while making sure to keep my distance from the boss. Whether the monsters I hunt are those from the center who fled or are boss monsters from other planets.

Even if a lot of them don’t give that much EXP.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

I just continue hunting one after another. Slaughtering the monsters in my path.

But even after hunting them for a half a year, my level barely reaches level 2420. At which point there are barely any Cataclysm Class monsters left alive.

All there are amongst the monsters from the center are the many large monsters that are around level 2400 or so. Which are still capable of leveling me up, but not very quickly.

I grit my teeth as I continue hunting for a while before eventually deciding to shift my attention from hunting monsters to looking for hidden areas.

Specifically hidden areas that might have free level-ups for me. Since I know they exist and have even been to them before.

But right when I head to the first one I see on my mini map, I hear a loud roar, bringing my attention behind me. Where I see the boss slaughtering monsters as usual in the distance. With its size at this point reaching over ten thousand kilometers in length by now.

A size so large I can see it from hundreds of planets away. Making it too large to even get out of sight of.

The main issue right now isn’t its size though.

It’s the fact that the monster is staring straight at me despite being in the middle of eating a planet. Albeit a smaller one.

Not sure how it’s roaring while eating though.

Without hesitating, I immediately begin teleporting away from the thing as quickly as I possibly can. But no matter how fast I teleport away, the boss just begins rushing straight at me. Moving faster than the speed of light in the process and completely shattering numerous planets along the way.

Why the hell is it chasing after me now?! It’s practically been ignoring me up till now.

Is it just not hungry anymore and wants to deal with the ‘pest’ hunting its food?!

Regardless of why, I don’t stop teleporting away.

At some point I try leaving the dungeon entirely, but all I get when I try that is a notification appearing in my vision.

I feel a vein throbbing in my forehead at the sheer anger I feel over this. An emotion I don’t exactly feel often.

What the fucking hell is that?! Since when were there restrictions on opening up the exit?!

And did the notification really just tell me to die as one of those options?!

The boss continues to roar in the ever-shrinking distance. All the way until it finally reaches me.

Only to pass straight through me, leaving me blinking in silence for a moment.

Wait a fucking second… so it’s been moving at the speed of light without even using any magic?!

The monster continues moving away even as it slows down, clearly trying to stop. But I don’t let this opportunity go to waste as I rush straight into the hidden area near me. Hoping against hope that it’s a closed off one sending me to another area.

And to my immense relief, I find out that it is.

Allowing me to escape from the boss. At least for now.

I pant in exhaustion as I feel my soul running rather low. Mostly due to how much I was just teleporting.

Meanwhile the hidden boss of this little hidden area just hides in the corner. Some sort of large three-headed dog.

It’s even whimpering. Like it’s afraid of me.

Then again, it’s level is almost a thousand levels beneath me.

I leave it be because killing it would open up the hidden area.

  Time for some rest…
