Chapter 2

"Gale! Gale!" An old man walked into a barn, his head turning to and fro as if searching for something. Then, he saw it. On a pile of hay, was a young boy with, curly silver hair, curled up asleep. The boy had strands of bck in his hair, and his arm held a red burn mark.

This boy was Gale, the man's adopted son.

"So, this is what you're doing lesson time, huh?" The man stood above Gale, his shadow stretching over Gale's sleeping figure like s shroud.

"Hm?" Gale mumbled incoherently as he opened his eyes, only to find who was standing over him. He sat up as if he had been electrocuted.

"Ah, uncle Han! Haha... I guess I overslept?" Gale ughed nervously.

A few minutes ter, Gale was rubbing his sore head, as he faced Uncle Han in a clearing.

"You didn't have to hit me that hard!" He compined, still rubbing the pce on which he had been wacked.

"You didn't have to sleep lesson time then, did you?" Uncle Han questioned. He nearly smiled as he watched the young boy discontentedly rub his head. He remembered how he had first found the boy in a boat that had come to the shore. He took him in, cared for him and raised him, even going as far as to train. After all that, he was still imparting more to the boy.

"So Gale, I have told you about bloodlines. I amsure you understand their absolute importance by now, right?" Uncle Han spoke, his eyes on the boy.

Getting serious, Gale straightened up and nodded.

"Very well," Uncle Han said, nodding. "Then I will just remind you."

"He took a deep breath, before expining. What he expined was simple.

In this world, a system of power called bloodline abilities were used. It was passed through genes, and grew stronger with each generation. They are cssified as such, a bloodline less then 10 years old is called a 10th generation bloodline, Then a generation going up to 20 is named 9th, to 30 8th, to 40 7th, to 50 6th, to 60 being 5th, to 70 being 4th. to 80 being 3rd, and to 90 being, 2nd, and finally, to 99 being 1st. In the range of 100-999 will be named a centurial bloodline, and over 1000 will be called a millennial bloodline. Then the bloodlines from the period of the first evolution would be called the imperial bloodline. Lastly, a bloodline from any of the first 7 evolvers would be an ancestral bloodline.

Unless a bloodline ability which originated te did so with an insane amount of power, it was impossible to reach those with a longer period. Reaching an imperial or Ancient bloodline was impossible altogether. In the world at the moment, there were 7 re-known families with Ancient bloodlines, and less then 10 with imperial ones.

Besides bloodlines, other methods were used to enhance. These methods were discovered over the years, and it is what helped them in the great war against the otherworldly creatures. Some of these ways were bloodline-arts and summoning.

Bloodline arts was developed by fusing ancient human martial arts with the bloodline abilities. It helped enhance ones speed, lethality and power. So far Uncle Han had taught Gale the footwork and techniques of his blood-art, but it cold not be fully utilized without a Blood-art that matched it.

"Today is the day I teach you my bloodline ability, Gale. "Uncle Han said, his eyes serious, and fixed to Gale. ? choose you as my inheritor."

"Wha-" Gale looked stunned, and could only stand there. "Are you sure, Uncle? Giving away a bloodline ability isn't so simple, right? It's as important as a priceless family heirloom, no... even more important! Far more important!"

"Boy, I have lived more than 4 times your age. Do you doubt my decision?" Uncle Han said, a smile on his wrinkled face.

  Gale shook his head.

Uncle Han nodded satisfactorily. "Turn around and sit down," Gale dropped to the floor and spun around.

  "Now, remove your shirt."

  Gale complied.

The old man approached, his long white hair now being pushed backward by the rain. He pced his palm on the exposed back of the boy, and his hand began to glow. A bright blue light spread to the boy's back, before it covered his entire body. Uncle Han could feel the boy tremble.

Gale felt his body grow warm, and he felt something strange flow though his veins. Slowly, he felt his body fill with energy, and soon, a feeling of invisibility overtook his senses.

"This a bloodline ability?' Gale opened his palms and stared at them. They felt different. They felt like, if he wanted, he could destroy anything he wanted.

"Feels great, doesn't it?" Uncle Han asked, removing his palms. Gale nodded.

Uncle Han turned around and walked into the distance before turning around.

"Stand up boy, your real training starts now!"

  ~ ~ ~

Gale stood facing his teacher, ready to attack. He was crouched, his eyes focused.

"I'm sure you have an idea of how to use your abilities, right?"

Uncle Han asked, his hands behind his back.

  Gale nodded.

"Very well, hold out your hand and push outward with all your will. Don't lose your focus!"

Gale outstretched his hand, his eyes narrowed in concentration. As he willed to push outward, he felt something warm flow through his veins, and to his fingertips. From it, like a million little streams, tendrils of electricity flowed out. They pushed outward, growing in size as they tore through space.

Gale watched in amazement as the electricity died off.

"This is crazy..." Gale muttered as he stared at his hand.

"That is my bloodline ability, 'sky-fire'. It's a centurial bloodline which just reaches the border of being an Imperial bloodline. Impressive, right?" Uncle Han expined.

  Gale nodded.

"What you just released is called a primary bloodline technique. Primary techniques are specific to their uses, and they cannot be changed or learned by others. A person's bloodline ability is judged from their primary techniques. However, bloodline abilities also have something called secondary abilities. These can be learned. These are generally simple techniques, like using energy to creating shields, or heal minor injuries, or even to store objects. For now, I will teach you Primary techniques so you can improve your own bloodline ability. The first technique I will teach will be 'Fsh'." Uncle Han expined. Then he turned around, facing a tree. He stretched out his hands, and immediately, a wild blue mass of electricity formed. The tendrils danced around erratically, with no pattern or shape.

"Fsh." With those words, the energy ball tore through space like a stallion, and smashed into the tree far away. All this in a mere second, so fast Gale barely caught it with his eyes. The tree bent over with a cry, until it Broke with a crack.

  Gale's eyes widened.

  "Wow..."

Uncle Han turned to him. "Now, gather your energy at your fingertips. Not too much energy, your focus here is not power or quantity. Next, when you push it out, send it out as quick as possible. We want a small attack at high speed."

Gale responded to the instructions by finding another tree to aim at, he then pushed out a small portion of energy to his fingertips. Then, he watched as it gathered into a chaotic mass of electricity. He took a deep breath, before releasing the mass of energy.

  "Fsh." He muttered.

The swirling mass of lightning fshed, flying at a terrifying speed forward. Gale watched hopefully, but groaned in disappointment as the energy dispersed halfway to his target.

"Not too bad." Uncle Han nodded, before turning around and heading into the house."Practice until you hit that target. And don't sleep te practicing like you did yesterday."

Gale could just watch him go, surprised.

"He knew? I thought I snuck out..."

In the end, he could only hopelessly sigh as he continued to practice.
