Divinity

Over the next three months Kaelon changed a lot. His body went from malnourished and skinny to a nice defined shape. The thing that stuck out the most though, was his hair.

Ever since Kaelon awakened his divinity his hair had changed gradually. At first it was only in intense situations that it changed color but now it was always in that state. It made him stick out like a sore thumb but he liked it.

Kaelon's training with Kane destroyed his body and rebuilt it. He saw the beatings Kane gave him whenever he closed his eyes. Shivers ran down his spine just thinking about it.

His lessons with Elizabeth on the other hand were drastically different. Kaelon struggled to focus on the boring classes, but Elizabeth was unrelenting in her teachings. Still, once he learned to read and basic math they were over.

Today Kaelon woke up with a start. Like usual since arriving here Kaelon dreamt of that crystalline symbol. Only this time he did touch it. Usually it would remain out of his grasp no matter what but today that changed.

As soon as he woke up he felt the difference. Kaelon wasn't the same as yesterday, that symbol had changed something. He felt the burning sensation in his chest more clearly than ever before.

Kaelon walked through divine halls on his way to the training ground. Soon the sound of clashing metal echoed in his ears. In the training ground the paladins were clashing in duels and practiced their forms. Kane stood at the back barking out instructions and guidance.

As he approached Kane turned to face him, meeting him halfway. He looked down at him with a smile and pointed his wooden sword at him.

"Morning Kaelon. You ready to take a beating?"

Kaelon scoffed at his words and fired back with a laugh.

"Things won't go that way this time around geezer."

"Oh confident are we? Let's see how you do!"

Kane's eyes narrowed before he rushed at Kaelon. Kaelon focused his eyes and parried his attack. The weight of the attack pushed him back a few steps but Kaelon was able to keep his footing.

Kaelon made the first move this time. He jumped at Kane and brought his sword down with his whole body. Kane blocked the attack without even blinking an eye.

Kane then pushed him back with his sword. Kaelon jumped back, doing a flip before barely landing on his feet. Kane took the opening and brought his sword down on a stumbling Kaelon.

His eyes widened as the sword came closer and closer. Kaelon's sword still pointing to the ground, shot up in a split second as his chest burned hotter and hotter. The two clashed but Kane overpowered him in the end.

Kaelon rolled out of the way just before Kane's sword hit him. His hands burned from his grip on the sword. Before Kane could launch another attack Kaelon took action.

He dashed at Kane, his chest burning even hotter. The sword moved with an arc before sparks began gathering on its edge. Flames coated his wooden sword as he swung it at Kane.

Kaelon's eyes widened as the flames sparked. He stopped his attack just before it clashed with Kane's sword and threw his sword aside. They both stood dumbfounded watching as Kaelon's sword burned to ashes on the floor.

  "What was that?"

Kane looked at Kaelon with wide eyes.

"How did you do that? Since when did you know magic?"

Kaelon looked at him with an equally confused expression.

"Magic? I don't know magic. I have no idea what just happened."

Kane fell into thought at Kaelon's words before he perked up.

"Oh! I know, just ask your dad. He should know something about what's going on with you."

"Can I even do that? Aren't gods busy?Last time I spoke to Him was when I got here three months ago."

Kaelon's eyes narrowed at Kane's words. His father was a god, He had many better things to do than advise him.

Kane turned to him with a smile and asked.

"He's still your father isn't He? The least He could do give you some advice."

"I guess... I'll give it a try later."

The two continued their training after a brief rest. A couple hours later Kaelon was headed to the prayer hall. His father's statue loomed over him as he walked into the solemn hall.

Kaelon kneeled before the statue, reflecting his image from three months ago. Only now Kaelon was different. His tone body and red hair had turned him into a different person.

He closed his eyes before reciting a prayer.

"Altan, God of The Sun. Eldest of the Gods and Ruler of Stars. It's me Kaelon, your son. I pray for your advice. Something changed in me and I'm not sure what to do."

As his words fell Kaelon felt a nostalgic sensation. Opening his eyes he found himself in Altan's divine realm. Oranges and Golds filled the space and Kaelon smiled to himself.

Turning around he saw his father waiting for him. A smile sat on His face as He watched Kaelon.

"You've grown Kaelon, seeing you up close I can tell. Your divinity has fully awakened."

  "My divinity?"

Kaelon was visibly confused at his father's words. Altan looked down at him with a calm smile and explained further.

"Yes, your divinity. In your dreams you've been seeing a symbol haven't you? That's your divinity."

  "That's what that was?"

"Yeah, now that you made contact with it. It's powers are in your grasp. As you refine it, it will get more and more powerful. Eventually you could even rise to Godhood."

Kaelon's eyes were wide open at this point. Never in his life did he think he could become a God. The idea had never occurred to him even after discovering he was a demigod.

Altan noticed his gaze and chuckled at his confusion.

"Not that becoming a God is easy by any means. Just having divinity doesn't make you Divine. Everything had divinity, even regular people."

Altan paused, making sure Kaelon followed His explanation.

"You become a God by completely merging with your divinity and claiming its authority. And that is no easy task I can tell you from experience. For now don't even think about the possibility of becoming a God. Just focus on controlling what power your divinity has already given you before trying to claim more."

Kaelon stood silently for a moment, absorbing his father's words. He was gathering his thoughts when the divine realm crumbled. Suddenly he was back in the prayer hall with more questions than answers.

Kaelon rushed back to his room his mind racing. He replayed his conversation with his father over and over until he was in front of his door. Stepping inside Kaelon sat on the ground.

He closed his eyes and tried to feel his divinity. Kane had briefly taught Kaelon about meditation. The way he explained it was to sit on the ground and empty your mind, focusing on the body.

Kaelon took deep breaths while trying to feel for his divinity. For a couple hours Kaelon sat unmoving. In his mind Kaelon saw a void, he sunk deeper and deeper into it. Soon small embers appeared in his vision.

The closer he got to them the clearer he could see his divinity. It's crystalline patterns reminded Kaelon of a campfire but somehow seemed more sacred. His hands reached for it slowly and once he made contact his eyes shot open.

In his hand was a small fire. It flickered as Kaelon looked upon it, his eyes wide.

'Holy shit I can actually control fire.'
