That night Kaelon laid in bed looking up at the ceiling with a blank expression. Today was way too eventful for his liking. He woke up in an unfamiliar room just to find out that his father was the Sun God.
Now that he actually sat down and thought about it Kaelon was mind blown. Kaelon rose from bed with a start. All this thinking wasn't being helpful, he was just going around in circles.
Kaelon reached for the sword on the desk before leaving. He decided to get some practice in to take his mind off of things. Leaving his room Kaelon found himself in a secluded square.
A single tree stood tall in the middle of the square. Kaelon settled under its canopy and brandished his blade. He took a deep breath and focused, his eyes closed.
Like that he began swinging the sword. His mind focused on every swing, every motion. Kaelon's gift for the sword didn't automatically make him a sword master. It just gave him a set of instincts designed for swordplay.
He unconsciously adjusted his form as he went along. As Kaelon swung the sword his mind went blank, completely absorbed in his practice. His movements became smoother as the hours went by.
It was only after his arms gave out that Kaelon moved back inside. He collapsed onto his bed soaked in sweat and panting. The exhaustion didn't bother him though, he felt a million times better than before.
Kaelon's mind had been racing all day, turning his brain off to swing a sword was just what he needed. Looking up at the same ceiling as before Kaelon was a lot calmer.
In just a few minutes his mind drifted into sleep. In his dreams he saw a small ember, it was growing and burning brighter by the second. From the flames rose a crystalline symbol, its patterns like flames.
Kaelon felt drawn to the symbol, it was as if it were a part of him. His arm stretched forward as he reached for it. The moment he touched the symbol his dream collapsed and his eyes blinked open.
Kaelon rubed his eyes as he rose from bed. Outside, the sun was rising, the sky a beautiful mix of reds and golds. He quickly washed his face with the water basin in his room.
Stepping out of his room Kaelon was refreshed and ready for his training. His arms were a bit sore from last night but he wouldn't back down. Kaelon walked through the grand halls of the temple, heading toward the training ground.
The sounds of metal clashing resounded in his ears. It seemed the training had already begun, Kaelon hurried to the training ground. He stepped out of the hall to see Kane standing at the training grounds entrance.
The giant's gaze immediately to Kaelon as he rushed toward him. He looked Kaelon up and down with a scrutinizing glance. Kaelon seeing him waiting, approached him with his head low.
"Hello sir Kane, I'm Kaelon. Thank you in advance for your help."
Kane looked down at Kaelon with his piercing blue eyes. A smile creeped onto his face seeing his demeanor.
"To think I'd have a demigod bowing to me. Truly life has its surprises! So you wish to learn the sword Kaelon?"
Kaelon looked up at the man with a smile. He nodded with excitement at the prospect of Kane's teachings.
"Yes! Elizabeth told me all demigods recieve gifts, I think mine is for the sword. A fire burns in me when I use the sword. And now that I have this fire in me, I want it to grow."

Kane smiled at Kaelon's enthusiasm. It was clear to him the boy had a passion for the sword. He stepped into a vacant area of the training ground and grabbed a wooden sword.
Turning towards Kaelon, Kane pointed his wooden sword at him.
"Let's see how bright your fire burns Kaelon. Grab a sword and come at me."
Kaelon nodded at the order and turned to the rack. He retrieved a sword and stepped up to Kane. Actually standing before the giant, Kaelon was little intimidated.
"Scared already? What about the fire in you?"
Kane, noticing his hesitation, teased him while motioning for him to come.
Kaelon gritted his teeth listening to his sarcasm. He knew he couldn't win this fight no matter what he did. But he at least resolved to land at least one hit on him.
Kaelon gripped on the sword tightly, his knuckles white as he rushed forward. Kane didn't bat an eye as he batted Kaelon's sword away.
"Too reacklees. Your swing was too wide, narrow it."
Kane spoke plainly as he dismantled Kaelon's shoddy swordsmanship. Everything Kaelon tried was perfectly countered before Kane pointed out what he did wrong.
For two hours straight Kane beat proper form into Kaelon. His progress astonished Kane, in two hours he went from little to no skills to something he could work with.
In the end Kaelon laid on the ground panting, bruises littered on his body. Kane sat next to him with a smile. He was clearly satisfied with Kaelon's performance.
"You did good Kaelon. Your gift is definitely for the sword, of that there's no question. The progress you made in just two hours takes months for others!"
Kaelon turned to him but he was too tired to reply. His entire body hurt from Kane's 'teachings'.
"I'm telling you Kaelon. In the future you'll become a monster. It's guaranteed as long as you keep training."
Kane's eyes glittered at the prospect of that and turned to Kaelon.
"Now get up. You rested long enough, let's get to the real training."
Kaelon's face paled af his words. His body was already practically immoble. More training was impossible in his current state.
Still Kane forced him up on his feet. His smile never faded as Kaelon's complaints arose. He pointed to the track around the training ground.
"Now run, and don't stop running until I tell you."
Seeing Kaelon hesitate Kane whacked him with the wooden sword.
"Hey! What was that for man?"
"I said run, go ahead and get going. I'll keep hitting you if you stop before i say so."
Kaelon stood dumbfounded for a little. It was only when Kane hit him again thag he actually began running. From the side of the track Kane looked on with a satisfied expression.
Kaelon ran around the training ground until the sun was directly above them. Kane would hit him everytime he stopped running until he accuslly just couldn't run anymore.
Once again Kaelon was on the floor panting while Kane stood above him satisfied. Kaelon struggled to speak for a while before shouting.
"What is this? Training or torture?! I can't move my body!"
The paladins around the grounds all burst out laughing at his shouting. His complaints fell on deaf ears as everyone ignored them.
"Don't whine so much Kaelon. You're a man aren't you? No need for all that complaining. This is what you wanted."
Kaelon looked up as Kane loomed over his face. He knew Kane was right so he fell silent. Kane reached a hand down and helped him up with a smile.
"Now come on, let's go eat. Training is over for the day."
Kaelon's expression brightened instantly at his words. He followed behind him as the paladins headed to the cafeteria. They shared a meal and Kaelon met a few more paladins of the order.
After their meal Elizabeth came to find Kaelon. She led him to the library where he took lessons for three hours. He struggled to remain awake as the tutor went on and on.
After his lesson ended Kaelon dropped his head on the desk below him. His exhaustion both mental and physical had caught up to him.
"This is more work than I though it would be. Learning to read is harder than swordsmanship!"
Elizabeth chuckled at his words.
"All the more reason you need to work hard to master it. The faster we get this done the faster you van just focus on your sword."
Kaelon raised his head and smiled at her.
"Yeah, you have a point. I'll get this over with in no time."
With that Kaelon left the library and headed to his room. Immediately he collapsed into his bed, his body aching. For a few hours he didn't move at all.
It was only when the sun started setting that he stood up again. He grabbed his sword and left his room. Kaelon stood under the tree in the square with his eyes closed. His sword moved as he visualized his fight with Kane earlier.
He swung the sword for a few hours before heading back into his room. His arms hung low, completely dead. As he drifted into sleep he thought about the day's events. From now on this is what his life would be like.
