Chapter 38: The Storm Unleashed
Silence reigned. The chamber still trembled faintly under the weight of Zuko’s power, though he had reduced it by now. They were all able to stand and move around again, even if it was hard. But they also knew that at any given moment Zuko could unleash his full presence on them again. Or at least the part that managed to get past the two Seals surrounding him.
Yuki’s voice broke first. "Auri, don’t you dare take his deal!" Her tone was sharp, but her wings shook as she pressed against him. "He’s lying! He has to be lying!"
Myra was less certain. Her feathers were ruffled, her eyes darting between the sealed figure of the Storm Menace and the small Pikachu at her side. The Pikachu that, apparently, was a human in truth. And somehow she'd been the only one caught off-guard by that relevation. Everyone else had apparently already known that. "He can’t lie," she muttered, half to herself. "But he can twist truths as much as he wants."
Zuko didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. His eyes glowed faintly in the dim light, their reflection rippling in the shallow water around them. He was patient, watchful, a predator that had already set the trap and only needed his pray to fall right into it.
Miu stood behind them, her form haloed by soft psychic light, expression unreadable. By now her own psychic-type energy had receded again as well. But her silence said enough. She was furious. Both at Zuko, and at how perfectly he’d forced the board in his favor. And how, somehow, the Divine Laws let him mess with Auri and Yuki. Because, really, they should've already struck him down for crossing the line.
Auri’s chest felt tight. His pulse was a storm in his ears. The words Zuko had spoken refused to leave his mind. His memories. Everything he had been before waking up in the Umbral Abyss. The weight of not knowing had followed him since the day he’d woken up in that forest. And no matter how much he'd told himself he didn't need them, now that he actually had the option to get them back...
Yuki’s wing pressed against his shoulder. "Hey," she whispered, desperate now. "You’re not doing this right? You’re not falling for him!"
He wanted to believe her. But the thought of knowing, of finally remembering who he truly was, burned too brightly to ignore.
Zuko, as a Lesser Legendary, was bound by the Divine Laws. But the Storm Menace had boasted that he knew every loophole, every way to make honesty a weapon. He'd proven it with Miu. And that was what terrified Auri most. Because part of him, even knowing all that, still wanted to believe Zuko. Wanted to find out the truth.
He could feel Yuki trembling beside him, feel the heat of her anger and fear radiating like sunlight through water. Myra’s voice joined in, sharp and commanding, maybe for her own sake as much as his. "You’ve seen what he is, Auri. You felt it the moment he looked at you. There’s nothing in him worth trusting."
He didn’t answer. Couldn’t. Because, as Zuko had already pointed out, how different were Zuko and he truly?
If Zuko spoke the truth, then freedom would give him power again. Maybe only in a few months, but still. If he tricked them, then his goal was something far worse. But if Auri refused, if he did nothing, he’d never know what had been stolen from him. Never know what Miu had buried, for she would never willingly give him the truth. She still wanted him dead after all!
He closed his eyes. What if the truth could change everything? Would that make it worth it? Zuko shifted slightly, calmly looking at him. A reminder that the choice was only his to make.
Auri looked up at him. Slowly. Calmly. He knew his decision.
Yuki took a step forward, voice breaking. "Please Auri... don’t..."
Auri inhaled. "You know what, Zuko? You're right, I-"
Zuko's face split into a grin. "That's what I wanted to hear! Now-"
"Let me finish!" Auri interrupted the Lesser Legendary harshly. "You're right, I do have quite a few similarities with the story you told. And your offer is indeed quite tempting. But my answer is no." It wasn’t a shout. It wasn’t even loud. But it hit the chamber like a lightning strike.
Miu’s eyes widened in surprise, maybe even disbelief. Zuko’s grin faltered, just a little.
Auri took another breath and stood straighter despite the crushing pressure that suddenly returned. His ability worked in overdrive to even allow him that much while Yuki and Myra were pressed back into the ground. "I’m not freeing you."
Zuko’s gaze darkened. "And pray tell, why not?"
"Because I’d be trading everyone else’s safety for my own curiosity," Auri said quietly. "You’ve already shown what happens when you’re unbound. You're a violent and dangerous being. Now with no one around that would be capable to stand up to you... I will not bet on you having changed during your imprisonment."
He took a slow step forward, lightning flickering faintly across his fur. "You said you know the Divine Laws better than anyone. You said you know how to twist them. So tell me, why should I trust a single word you say?"
Zuko didn’t reply. The silence that followed was suffocating.
Auri’s eyes narrowed. "You just betrayed Miu. Right in front of her. Of us. You used her help, then turned on her the second she wasn’t useful anymore. You think I don’t see that?" His voice grew steadier with each word. "If I free you, you’ll do the same to me. To all of us! You don’t need to lie to make that true."
Lightning cracked faintly in the air. The sound echoed through the dark chamber like a heartbeat. Zuko’s tail shifted once, sending ripples through the water. "You think yourself wise," he murmured, voice low and dangerous.
"No," Auri said. "Just careful enough to not fall for obvious traps."
He turned his gaze aside, toward the faint shimmer of Miu’s psychic light. "You were right about one thing," he said softly. "Miu can’t hide the truth forever. But it doesn’t mean I’ll tear the world apart just to find it a little earlier."
For a moment, the entire chamber seemed frozen. Then, very softly, the Lesser Legendary sighed. "Ah. I see." he said. His voice carried no anger this time, only the faintest note of disappointment, as though the game he’d been playing had ended too soon. "So you have changed. Who would've thought that a lack of memories would actually make you less naive? Or is it just that said naivity is tempered by a lack of power?"
With a small shake of his head he continued. "No matter. I truly had hoped to do this differently. You see, I dislike staking my chances on someone I barely know, barely trust, and whose actions I can barely predict. But you’ve left me with no other choice, have you, Noah?"
The name cracked through the air like thunder and everyone stilled. Miu’s breath caught. Slowly, her eyes widened, her psychic glow intensifying in a shimmer of violet and gold as her type-energy slowly started to press down on everyone as well once more. "What… did you just say?"
Zuko’s grin returned, both triumphant and cruel. "You heard me. Your little obsession with Noah and Ray? How you've been chasing their shadow trying to confront them for how they destroyed the continents? You have that Noah right in front of you. The same Noah who once fought me on the Water Continent. The one who helped Lord Noctem throw me into this cell. And that is why I can act without the Divine Laws interfering. It’s because I know that he is one of us. A Lesser Legendary. Now you know that as well. That means you can act."
Auri’s breath hitched. "I don’t-"
But Miu’s expression said she didn’t need to hear more. The shock was gone, replaced by the slow, boiling wrath of a being whose worldview had just collapsed in on itself. "You mean to tell me,” she said, voice trembling, "that he is not just a human but the very same human!?"
Zuko smiled faintly. "Precisely. You’ve been playing a game against yourself all along. And Vian will be here soon. You and your old friends, how touching that reunion will be, don’t you think? Especially when they find out."
The air rippled. Miu’s psychic energy surged outward in a tidal wave of violet light, shattering the ground beneath her. "You used me to get your revenge!” she screamed, at Zuko. Then she turned on Auri. "And you lied to all of us!"
Auri didn’t even have time to raise a paw before the psychic storm hit. The air screamed as invisible force tore through the cavern, ripping apart stone and sending shards of light cascading like shattered glass.
"MIU, WAIT!" Yuki’s voice cracked, desperate—but it was drowned out by the roar of raw power.
Auri’s instincts took over. Electric-type energy erupted around him in a violent sphere, arcs of gold slashing through the violet storm. He didn’t think, didn’t have the time to. All he could do was try to survive.
The collision was blinding. Psychic and electric energy clashed, Aur's electric-type energy being overwhelmed easily before something else took control over it, strengthened it, and shattered Miu's attack apart.
Zuko’s eyes flared open wide, gleaming with reflected lightning. For just an instant, he looked almost startled. Then, the grin returned. "Ah," he murmured, low and satisfied. "So that’s how it is." He raised his head, body straining against the prison’s inner wall as golden sparks began to dance along the containment lines. "You have no idea what you’ve just given me, Noah."
The first seal cracked with a sound like splitting ice. A blast of pressure followed, pure, ancient energy washing over them all.
Auri staggered back, clutching his chest, the taste of iron and ozone thick on his tongue. He didn’t understand. He hadn’t meant to break the seal! How had that happened!?"
Zuko’s laughter cut through his confusion, deep and booming, echoing off the shattered stone. "Well done, boy! Even in ignorance, you still play your part!"
Miu stumbled backward, eyes wide in disbelief. "You-! what did you... How!?"
"Volt Absorb," Zuko said, voice dripping with satisfaction. "The natural ability of my species. All I needed was Noah's type energy to break the seal. Volt Absorb allowed me to take control over his, even scattering your thoughtless attack in the process."
He looked directly at her now, and his tone shifted, cold and commanding. "Now, Miu. Break the second seal. I will handle the rest."
Miu blinked, breath shaking. "You… you think I’ll help you now!? You’ve already betrayed me once! I would be better off betting on Lord Noctem awakening before you get free!"
"But you need me," Zuko interjected smoothly. "Tell me, Miu. If he truly is Noah, wouldn’t you rather have him alive long enough to explain why he did it? Why he and Ray turned their powers on our entire world? Why they decided the only way forward was to nearly destroy four of our five continents? Don’t you want to hear it from his own lips before you tear him apart?"
The words struck deep. Miu's glow flickered. "I can achieve that by myself now," Miu replied coldly. After all I now know that the Divine Laws do not bind me when I act against him."
"That may be the truth. But Sia, Vian and Nayru are going to be here in a moment. If you do not free me I tell them exactly the same things I told you. How long do you believe will it take Vian to hunt you down?"
Miu hesitated, acknowledging the truth in Zuko's words. If Vian hunted her down, she truly would not live for long. The chamber was trembling around them now, the ancient seals screaming under the pressure. The psychic light of her power wavered as she looked between Auri and Zuko. "You’ll keep him alive? You will not kill him the moment you get a chance?"
"Alive and caged. You have my vow. No harm will come over Noah under my watch unless you will it." The Divine Laws sealed the promise instantly, golthis time leaving no room for Zuko to wriggle out of his word.
Miu’s expression hardened. The fury hadn’t vanished, it had just found direction. "Then you will capture him and we'll leave the crater. No more death. Just answers. If you truly want revenge, you can come back later."
Zuko’s grin widened. "As you wish."
She lifted her paw. For a single heartbeat, her eyes softened as they fell on Auri. "You have no idea what you’ve done to all of us,” she whispered. "But I will find out why."
Then her power flared one final time, blinding and all-consuming. The second seal cracked, and the world exploded. A blast of ancient power ripped through the cavern like a sun bursting to life. The air turned white.
Zuko roared, not in pain, but in ecstasy. The seals that bound him shattered, melting away like dust. His true form unfolded from the prison light, a feline bipedal Pokemon with electricity overtaking his entire body and supercharging the air with electric-type energy in seconds. The ground buckled. The walls melted. And in all that chaos, a rift suddenly tore open in the middle of the room.
From the rift stepped Vian, wreathed in flames. Sia followed, sahdows spilling from her form and into the surroundings. Nayru came in last, water curling all around her form. The Mythicals’ presence struck like an ocean crashing against the storm.

Vian raised his paw, a wave of translucent energy spreading outward just as the shockwave of the Storm Menace's sheer power hit. Auri felt the impact even through the shield, like he was being struck by thunder itself.
Zuko’s first breath as a free being sent ripples through reality. The shadows warped abd the air trembled with barely restrained violence. "Finally…" he breathed. "Freedom!"
Then his eyes locked on Auri again. "And now, as promised…" His voice deepened, rolling like thunder. "…I will get my hands on you and keep you alive as long as Miu wills it. But first..."
The Storm Menace turned to face Vian. "Vian. Another Pokemon I desperately want to kill. So you finally crawl out from your sanctuaries."
Vian’s reply was soft, but it cut through the chaos like a blade. "You’ve caused enough suffering for one lifetime, Zuko."
"Perhaps." Zuko lifted a claw, flexing it. "But this lifetime isn’t over yet. And how could I not add to it with Noah, Ray and you, Vian, being here right now!?"
He slammed his claw down. The ground detonated. The world vanished in a blinding burst of light and sound.
When the glow finally began to fade, Auri found himself cradled within Vian’s barrier, Yuki clutching his paw, Myra barely conscious beside them. The ground where Zuko had stood was gone, replaced by a crater that seemed to pulse with electricity.
Zuko stood at its center, his expression serene in the chaos. "You will regret this choice, Noah," he said quietly. "But not yet. "No, first I will take care of Vian and Ray."
Vian’s barrier still shimmered faintly, spiderwebbed with cracks, and the ground beneath them heaved as Zuko’s power raged outward unchecked. The ruin that had once been a sealed chamber now felt like the heart of a storm, walls trembling and the scent of ozone thick enough to burn.
Sia moved first. Her eyes blazed violet, shadows flaring from her form like living smoke. "Contain him!" The darkness surged forward in a [Shadow Sneak], reaching for Zuko’s outline. But before it even touched him, it evaporated, torn apart by static discharges snapping across the air.
Nayru followed, sweeping her fins outward. Columns of [Hydro Pump] and [Waterfall] erupted from the ground, circling Zuko like serpents. They rose higher and higher until they became a spiraling vortex, closing in, only to disperse in an instant as lightning carved through it. The water turned to mist, and the mist ignited in a white-hot flare.
Zuko didn’t move. He simply breathed. Every exhale crackled with electricity. Every blink sent tremors across the chamber. "Pathetic," he said softly, almost to himself. "How long has it been since any of you had to weather a real storm?"
"For these two the answer would be never," Vian said, stepping forward. The Victini’s voice was calm, but his aura was already blazing, golden-red flame swirling around him like solar wind. He raised a paw, and the air solidified with ancient heat. "You’ve forgotten, Zuko, that even a storm ends when it meets the sun. I've already fought you twice. I can do so once again."
Zuko’s grin widened. "Then prove to me that you can at least be entertaining!"
He struck first. The lightning came down like judgment without warning or buildup. Just a sudden [Thunder] falling from the sky. Vian caught it midair with a [Reversal], deflecting the worst of it, but the impact sent him skidding backward, gouging a trench in the fractured stone. Sia darted forward again, shooting a [Sahdow Ball] at the Storm Menace, while Nayru hurled a [Water Pulse] through the smoke. It hit Zuko square in the chest and scattered, harmlessly, into rain.
Auri could barely see through the storm. He crouched low beside Yuki, the barrier Vian had woven around them trembling. His heart thundered in sync with the chaos outside. They’re losing, he realized. Even he could feel the difference. Zuko wasn’t fighting them seriously. He was playing with them. He was a Lesser Legendary. He had a Domain that could end this battle in a heartbeat. He wasn't using it. Why? Probably because it would spoil his fun!
Yuki’s paw clutched his, trembling. "We have to-!"
"There’s nothing we can do!" Auri interrupted. He hated how true it felt. But in battle between Legendaries and Mythicals, there was no place for them.
Outside, Vian ignited again in a [Flare Blitz], flame turning almost white. He met Zuko head-on this time, crashing into the lightning with a sound like worlds colliding. The cavern flashed so bright that even Auri’s vision burned white. When it cleared, Vian stood panting, one knee to the ground, half his body singed and glowing with molten lines of energy. Zuko looked completely unbothered.
"You’ve barely grown stronger, old enemy," Zuko said lightly. "Without your friends at your side, your flame flickers."
"And you," Vian replied, straightening, "have remained the same pathetic feline I remember you as!"
Zuko laughed, deep and thunderous. "Pathetic? No. Maybe sadistic. I like to play with my prey, after all. But as a mere Mythical you do not have the right to call me, a Lesser Legendary, pathetic!"
Then he turned. His gaze slid across the battlefield and landed on Yuki. For a heartbeat, the world seemed to still. His grin turned cruel. "But it's about time I do what I came for."
Yuki froze. "What… what are you-?"
"Don’t play dumb with me, Ray."
The name hit like a thunderclap. Vian flinched. Even Sia’s attack faltered mid-gesture. Yuki staggered backward, shaking her head. "I’m not-!"
"Oh, you are!" Zuko interrupted, voice thick with venom and triumph. "Just like Auri is Noah you are Ray! I don't know what depraved ritual you two did but I would recognise you everywhere!"
He raised his claw, gathering power. The storm above condensed, forming a spear of lightning that hummed with electric energy. "I'm bound by the Divine Laws to not kill Noah right now. That protection, however, does not extend to you!"
"Zuko, don’t-!! Vian shouted, but it was too late.
The claw came down. The world turned white as Zuko unleashed his [Plasma Fists].
Auri threw himself in front of Yuki instinctively, but the barrier between them shattered the instant he moved. The sound was deafening, like reality itself was tearing. He felt the pressure crash into him, crushing and blinding, until something else flared in front of him.
Crystalline spires erupted from the floor, slamming into the path of Zuko's attack. It fractured, refracting in every direction, splitting into harmless streams that scattered across the walls. The spires gleamed with pale pink light, humming with power.
"Enough." The voice was soft and melodic, but it carried through the chaos with absolute authority.
Where the light met shadow, a figure stood, small and radiant, her gem-like body refracting the stormlight into prismatic beams that danced across the shattered stone. A delicate crown floated above her head, glowing with the steady rhythm of a heartbeat. Velari, the only other Lesser Legendary in the crater, had arrived.
Her eyes, bright and frightened, nonetheless met Zuko’s without wavering. "You will not touch them. I will not see you rampaging through Lord Noctem's Domain while he sleeps."
For a long moment, no one moved. The air crackled. The scent of ozone mingled with something sharp and clean, like fresh-cut crystal. Zuko tilted his head, studying her. "A Diancie," he said at last. "How quaint. The Mythical Rocara that hid behind Lord Noctem the last time we fought, I take it? So you sucessfully mutated and ascended to a Lesser Legendary since then."
Velari’s expression tightened, but she didn’t back down. "Does it matter? This time I'm here to face you. And I will bring you down!"
Zuko laughed, an amused, dangerous sound that rolled across the broken chamber. "Oh, I like you! You should be strong enough that I actually have to try!"
He struck again. The lightning hit her crystal barrier and scattered like rain on glass. Velari’s gem glowed brighter, refracting every bolt into a thousand harmless streams. The entire cavern shimmered, transformed into a prism of color and thunder. The air sang with tension.
Behind her, Sia and Nayru regrouped. Vian forced himself upright, staggering beside them, his flame reigniting in pale gold. He shot Velari a quick glance, a flicker of surprise, and respect. "You shouldn’t have come."
"I couldn’t just idly stand by," she said simply. Her voice was quiet, but steady. "We have been taught to protect the balance and the Umbral Abyss as a refuge for all Pokemon. Doubly so since the destruction of Paradise. I will not watch how Zuko tears down the last safe haven on the Mist Continent."
Auri, half-blinded by the light, could feel the shift even through the barrier. Zuko’s storm no longer flooded everything. The crystal lattice Velari had summoned fractured his energy, bleeding it off in waves of color. For the first time since his release, the Storm Menace looked… restrained. Not stopped, far from that, but he lost his total authority over the battlefield.
Velari’s power built higher. The air solidified, sharp and cold. Diamond dust hung in the stormlight like snow. Zuko’s grin didn’t fade. If anything, it grew. "So you do know to use your type advantage to pose a challange to me."
His claws tightened, arcs of lightning snaking down his arms. "Tell me, little crystal, do you really think you can stand against me?"
Velari’s voice was barely a whisper. "No. But luckily I’m not standing alone!"
The prism expanded. In the refracted glow, Vian’s flame surged again, mirroring her light. Sia’s shadows deepened, threading between the crystal walls. Nayru’s waters stilled, turning to polished surfaces that reflected the lightning away. Together, the three Mythicals and the Lesser Legendary formed a circle of light and color, fire and water and crystal harmonizing into something greater than the sum of their parts.
Zuko’s smirk faltered for the first time. Just a fraction. "Well," he murmured. "Perhaps this will acutally prove challanging after all."
He raised his arms, and the storm above roared to life again, thunder cracking so violently that the cavern itself began to split. "Then show me what you can do!"
Vian stepped forward, his voice a calm, burning whisper. "As you wish. [V-Create]."
The two forces collided. Flame met lightning. Crystal met storm. The explosion tore through the ruin, light spilling through every fissure, turning the sky outside into day.
Auri clung to Yuki as the world trembled around them, watching legends clash, seeing hope flicker again for the first time since the storm began.
And above it all, Zuko laughed, even as Velari’s prism closed around him, his voice echoing through the light. "Good! Then it's time for me to take this seriously now!"
The air was already splitting apart under the pressure of two Domains rising at once. The ground fractured like glass, spiderwebs of brilliance and shadow racing through the clearing as the energy reached a pitch that tore sound itself in half. Auri could barely breathe. Even standing near the edge of the storm made his fur stand rigid, his chest locking as if lightning had built a cage inside his lungs.
Velari’s diamond wings unfolded in a slow, agonizing bloom. Light refracted off her crystalline body, bending the battlefield into warped reflections. Fractured skies, doubled horizons, and the shimmering outlines of thousands of possible futures all collapsing into one blinding now. Across from her, Zuko grinned, the kind of grin that wasn’t joy but hunger sharpened into a blade. His aura roared to life, electric and chaotic, as if the very storm recognized him as its master.
Vian stood between them, ancient calm clashing with the violent rhythm of thunder and diamond light. His glow flickered like a candle before a hurricane, unwavering, but small compared to the monsters before him. He may be powerful but he was still just a Mythical trying to keep up with two Legendaries.
Auri’s world narrowed to survival. Every instinct screamed to run, to drag Yuki away before the air itself caught fire. But his body wouldn’t move. The sheer pressure of their energy pinned him down like invisible gravity, crushing the breath out of his chest, his field of vision narrowing. His ears rang with the sound of countless voices, the storm, the crystal hum, the pulse of the world coming undone.
"Stay close," Myra shouted, her wings trembling as she tried to shield them with her comparetively meagre power. "Don’t move unless I say-!"
The sky cracked open and Miu appeared again. Her form phased out of the distortion like she’d always been there. The air bent around her, twisting into shapes that the mind refused to understand, her own nascent Domain unleashed to its fullest.
"Miu," Vian’s voice was low, sharp, dangerous. "If you dare directly take up arms again me I will make sure it is your end, no matter our past friendship!"
"Oh, I know," she replied coldly. "But you see, dear Vian, I’m done pretending I still care about this. Not if I have Noah and Ray in front of me and a chance at actual answers!"
Her own power weaved through Zuko’s storm like oil through water. The moment her energy touched his, the storm turned intelligent. Every bolt began to move with purpose, every current guided by her will. She amplified Zuko's Domain, giving it the edge it needed.
Velari faltered. The Diancie’s crystals cracked under the strain of the storm that now moved like a mind. Her Domain, a shimmering sanctuary of light and crystal, started to dim at the edges, crushed beneath the relentless advance of thunder.
"Vian!" Sia shouted, her body trembling as she poured everything she had into enahncing Velari's Domain, just like Miu did with Zuko's. "If this keeps up-!"
"I know." His tone was steady, but his gaze flicked to Auri. To Yuki. To Myra. The implication hit like a punch.
"No!" Auri managed to shout, his voice breaking under the pressure. "We can still-!"
"You can survive," Vian interrupted, soft but absolute. "That’s all that matters now, little spark. Doubly so, if you are indeed Noah."
The words carried finality. There was no room for argument. "Sia. Find Shae. Bring her here as fast as possible. Otherwise we won't stand a chance."
A crack of lightning hit so close that it erased the horizon for an instant. Zuko’s roar followed, primal and wild, echoing across the world like a storm given voice. Velari screamed in response, her Domain flaring one last time in defiance, diamonds bursting from the ground, reflecting light like a million shattered mirrors. Miu’s laughter wove through it all, soft and beautiful, like a melody played on broken glass.
And then Vian moved. He raised his hand and the air around Auri and Yuki folded. There was no sound, no warning, just a sudden implosion of light. The battlefield vanished.
For a fraction of a heartbeat, Auri saw everything, Vian’s calm face, Sia clutching her chest as the light swallowed her, Myra struggling to push Yuki behind her even as she disintegrated into the teleport. And beyond them, Velari and Zuko colliding, two Lesser Legendaries, two Domains, their energies merging into a storm that could have unmade the world itself. Then the light snapped shut.
He staggered, nearly falling. His vision spun until shapes found meaning again, the soft glow of lanterns, the faint scent of earth and moss. They were back in Newleaf Village.
Yuki collapsed beside him, panting, her feathers sparking faintly. "W-what… just happened?"
Auri didn’t answer. He couldn’t. His mind was still full of the sound of shattering crystal, the memory of Velari’s voice cutting through the roar, of Zuko’s laughter carried on lightning.
Myra was slumped against a nearby wall, feathers singed and trembling. Sia knelt a few paces away, her gemmed body dim and uneven, the light in her chest flickering with exhaustion. The crystalline markings across her arms pulsed erratically, cracks running along her right shoulder where the teleport had ripped through unfinished wards.
Auri’s throat felt raw. "Vian…"
Sia shook her head. "He stayed." Her voice was quiet, trembling with something that wasn’t fear but grief held too tightly. "He’s the only one who can stall Zuko long enough for Velari’s Domain to stabilize."
Yuki’s eyes widened. "He stayed there? With that thing?"
Sia nodded once. "He won’t let Velari and Nayru face Zuko and Miu alone. They would be terribly outmatched." Her gaze lifted toward the distant horizon, where faint flashes of silver and violet light still pulsed across the sky like wounded stars. "But even together they can’t hold them back forever."
Auri’s paws curled against the dirt. The storm felt miles away, but he could still sense it, like static crawling beneath his skin, whispering of fury and destruction beyond imagination. He swallowed hard, forcing the air into his lungs. "Then we need to move! Now!"
Sia turned sharply toward him. "No! You’re not going anywhere near that battlefield!
"Vian said to find Shae-"
"And I will," Sia interrupted. "That’s my task. Not yours." She rose slowly, her form trembling with the strain, the crystalline shards around her wrists glimmering weakly. "You three are to stay here. Rest. Recover. If Zuko's and Velari's Domains expand any further, anyone weaker than an Elder will die from the pressure alone."
Yuki puffed up in protest. "But we can’t just-!"
"You can," Sia said, her voice cutting through like glass. Then softer, almost an apology, "Yand you must."
The silence that followed was suffocating.
Auri could hear the faint hum still clinging to his fur, not his own electricity, but the residue of what he had just survived. A storm too vast for thought, too alive to be comprehended. He looked at Myra, her wings trembling even in near-unconscious rest. At Yuki, still standing despite the quiver in her legs, feathers bristling with defiance she couldn’t act on. And at Sia, exhausted, wounded, but already preparing to jump back into the fray, because someone had to.
Sia’s light brightened for a moment, just enough to show her face in the dark. There was no fear there in her gaze, only resolve. She turned to Myra who was just brarely standing up.
"Keep Auri and Yuki safe. That's an order from me, the princess of the Umbral Abyss and Lord Noctems daughter. I don't care what it costs. But if they are truly Noah and Ray, their lives have to be your highest priority!"
Myra managed a nod and Sia allowed herself a short smile before looking at Auri and Yuki again. "We'll meet again and then we'll talk. I promise." Then she vanished into shadows, presumably searching for Shae.
The silence that followed felt unnatural, as if the air itself held its breath. Auri sank to the ground slowly. The earth was damp, grounding, real. He tried to focus on that, on the cool air, the smell of moss, the dim lantern glow, anything but the sound of thunder echoing through his head.
Yuki sat beside him, staring toward the horizon where faint lightning still clawed at the sky. "She’s not coming back soon, is she?"
"No," Auri said quietly. "She’s not."

Domain: Radiant Aegis
When Velari’s Domain unfolds, the world around her solidifies into brilliance. Light refracts into lattices, sound slows and softens, and the air itself begins to hum with harmonic resonance. Every particle of dust, every droplet of water, every mote of energy aligns into crystalline order. Within the Radiant Aegis, all kinetic and elemental forces are refracted through Velari's will. Attacks that enter her Domain scatter, weaken, or transform, their energy restructured into dazzling crystal growths or prismatic shields. Every movement becomes deliberate, every surge of power forced to obey symmetry.

Domain: Stormforge Sovereignty
When Zuko’s Domain is active, the surrounding air becomes electrically dense and subtly ordered. Wind patterns, humidity, and ambient charge respond to only his orders. Gusts arrive when he wills them, lightning seeks what his will marks, and the probability of sudden shocks or mechanical failures skews toward outcomes that favor Zuko’s intent. He calls the power of a literal storm from the sky, using it to both destroy and create.
