Alucard smiled upon seeing Stefan sitting across from him and eating his meal. The young man was beautiful; his waist was thin and curvy, his face elegant, and his butt was rather plentiful, but Stefan hated his own body, but Alucard could see the potential underneath. “So,” Alucard said, “You like Whitman?” Stefan smiled for the first time since he arrived. “Yeah, I do ... how did you know?” “I saw him in your stack in the library,” Stefan blushed. “Yeah, I think he writes well, but I don’t understand it as well as I would like to. My English is not as sharp as it should be.” Alucard nodded, “My father, when I was young, insisted I learn English. He said that Britain was the future, but I’m not so sure these days. I think America is where the future lies.” Stefan nodded, “Perhaps, my own father didn't teach me aside to hate him and myself.” Alucard stopped eating. “So, earlier, you said you hated your father and wished he were dead. Why is that?” Stefan sighed “It is a long story, it started before I was born, when my father and mother were both young my father, violated my mother” Alucard sighed “I am sorry that happened to her, my father was ... not a good person, he did some terrible things as well” Stefan pushed his food aside “I was the product of a violation, I am... an abomination. From my very existence, my impure thoughts about making love to men, my desire too...”

“To be a woman,” Alucard replied. Stefan was shocked, “Yes.... I feel it in my bones, my very being, it's who I am.” Alucard reached out his hand across the table, a suggestion to take his hand, but just that a suggestion, “I know.” Stefen’s blue eyes started to water. “How did you know?” Alucard replied, “I can see the souls of mankind, and it told me that you are a woman, a beautiful, lovely woman... a lady.” Stefan sniffled. He was on the edge of a breakdown, somehow, he trusted this stranger he barely knew. Still, he had already known his deepest secret; he had nothing to hide, and he took Alucard’s hand. “My father said a man crying was a sign of weakness; he’s right, I’m so pathetic.” Alucard stood up and held Stefan’s hand. He stood over the crying young man and brought him to his chest. “He’s wrong, my father used to say the same thing, it’s untrue, nothing but the words of old men, cry, cry it all out, I will be here for you to cry on, can we do it over on the sofa?” Stefan nodded, and Alucard swiftly guided him to the sofa, sat him down, and then went to the phonograph to turn on some soothing music. He stayed with the young lady all night until they fell asleep. Alucard sighed and lifted Stefan with his vampire strength into a spare bedroom and closed the door to let him be. Alucard shed a few tears for Stefan and then went back to the dining room. He knew Stefan had potential; he wanted to help this lost soul, but he just didn't know how.
