I used AI for the cover because my focus was on writing, and I had eventually intended to create my own cover. I put writing first (I realized pretty late that sometimes AI covers are associated with AI writing, so creating the cover became a higher priority).
I don't know how apparent it is with my writing style, but I don't use AI to write. It does help with clean-up, but AI does not like my writing. And I'm kind of okay with that.
One or two of these covers I altered with my own art.
The first- I hated it. it's the image below. AI took dystopian and ran with it. The letters I took from my early Webtoon.
My altered version of the same image:
I wanted her to have longer hair, larger eyebrows, a bigger nose, plumper lips, tanner skin. If you look closely, or maybe not close at all, I think it's kind of obvious where I used the blend tool. I changed the colors too. I still like how it turned out.
Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
I thought maybe the focus was too much on this girl, when it was a multiple POV, so I tried some other things.
And after I was informed that the cover above looked like a 'detective romance', I used a more generic, dystopian-looking one below.
Finally, it was time to make my own. Honestly, since I include my art in each chapter, it makes sense that the cover does too. At least it gives readers a warning!
I'm okay with the way it looks now. I do have some things I would change, but that's for another day. :)
Here's one more mention.
The image used for this THIS fiction is an early image of what I was going to use for my Webtoon:
(Look familiar?)
