Descending from the warm, humid sauna, they were greeted by a dizzying expanse of red light.
Sixth Layer: Copper Pillar Hell.
There was nothing here but copper pillars.
Tens of thousands of massive hollow copper pillars, two meters in diameter and tens of meters high, arranged densely.
Inside each pillar burned Hellfire, heating the copper walls red-hot, emitting a dull crimson glow. The air was extremely distorted by the high temperature, and the rocks on the ground had been baked into flowing magma.
"Hot hot hot!" Daoist Singularity's soles started smoking as soon as they touched the ground, so he hurriedly floated up. "The thermal efficiency of this layer is too high! The surface temperature of these copper pillars is at least 800 degrees!"
Slayer walked among these glowing pillars.
Although his Praetor Suit was heat-resistant, it was constantly alarming.
[Warning: Ambient temperature critical.]
[Cooling system overload.]
Entrenched here were "Barons of Fire" (Baron of Hell upgraded version). They needed no weapons, for they were fire itself.
Two Barons of Fire jumped out from behind the pillars. They grabbed the copper pillars next to them, uprooting two red-hot pillars like pulling giant green onions, and smashed them toward Slayer like massive fire sticks.
Whoosh—!
The flaming copper pillars swept with the force of an army.
Slayer slid, passing under the sweeping copper pillars.
As he stood up, he drew the Crucible Blade from his back.
But he found the lightsaber's energy bar had only one tick left (used too much for cutting walls earlier).
Out of battery?
Slayer looked at the red-hot copper pillar smashing toward his head.
That was all energy.
Slayer didn't dodge the second attack. He reached out with his left hand and grabbed the copper pillar smashing toward his head.
Sizzle sizzle sizzle!
800-degree heat instantly transferred to his gauntlet. But Slayer's hand didn't let go; instead, he gripped tighter.
He pulled violently, dragging the five-meter-tall Baron of Fire in front of him.
Then, he plunged the drained lightsaber directly into the core of the copper pillar in the Baron's hand (where the fire was strongest).
Charging Mode: Violent Siphon.
Hum————!!!
The runes on the Crucible Blade lit up instantly, making a greedy sucking sound.
The originally red-hot copper pillar darkened and cooled at a speed visible to the naked eye. The heat and hellfire energy within rushed crazily into the battery along the blade.
The Baron of Fire was confused. Why did the weapon in its hand suddenly get cold? And brittle?
Slayer didn't give it time to think.
The moment the copper pillar turned completely black (cooling complete), Slayer punched the pillar.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
Crash!
The embrittled copper pillar, unsupported by thermal energy, shattered into dust instantly.
Immediately after, the fully charged Crucible Blade swept out.
Slash!
The Baron of Fire was cut in two. The wound didn't bleed, instantly cauterized by the high temperature.
[Energy: 100% (Full).]
Slayer flicked the sword, feeling in peak condition.
Singularity watched dumbfounded from the side.
"This... this works too? Using the enemy's weapon as a power bank?"
Singularity looked at the floor full of red-hot copper pillars in this layer, and the lightbulb in his brain lit up again.
"Since the Big Hero can suck, I can suck too!"
Singularity pulled out the spare cooling pipes for the "Heavenly Dao Cloud Server" from his backpack.
"The Underworld's main server lacks a heat dissipation system, and these copper pillars have such good thermal conductivity, they're perfect for heat pipes!"
Singularity got to work.
He used spells to connect the cooled copper pillars, like piecing together Lego blocks, connecting one end to the underground river (cold source) and the other to the generator units on the upper layer.
"Conduct for me!"
Hiss—
The copper pillars originally used to burn people now became massive heat exchangers.
The underground hellfire heat was absorbed by the copper pillars, converted into steam to drive turbines for electricity generation; meanwhile, the copper pillars themselves, due to continuous heat dissipation, dropped to a safe surface temperature range.
The few remaining Barons of Fire, seeing their home becoming cooler and cooler, even starting to frost over, huddled together for warmth, shivering.
"Roar..." (Give us back our fire...)
Slayer ignored these pathetic creatures.
He walked to a newly modified copper pillar with a surface temperature of only 40 degrees and leaned against it.
Cool.
The Praetor Suit's overheat alarm was lifted.
Singularity looked at the [Underworld Power Reserve: +200%] data on his tablet, grinning from ear to ear.
"This is turning waste into treasure! The Underworld will never have to worry about power rationing again!"
"Heat Energy vs Heat Dissipation."
Torture tools that once caused despair, under Slayer's violent charging and Singularity's engineering modification, became the core energy heart of the Underworld.
"This copper pillar has excellent thermal conductivity."
Singularity touched the chilly pillar, giving it a five-star rating.
"Next chapter, Seventh Layer: Oil Cauldron Hell. Since we have electricity, should we turn those oil cauldrons... into french fry machines? Or something grander—a Geothermal Power Station?"
