C23

Our routine was simple for a few weeks. Wake up, eat, practice, work out, freetime/rest. Simple and easy.

After they had beaten the scenario, it was time to go, but the next day, she went back to do it again. The maps were random, and she had, at one point, gotten the forest map 3 times in a row.

This time, it was the desert map. The general idea was the same. 3 people hold the line until the waves are done. The only difference this time being more mobility and a lot of air units and artillery.

As usual, the first few waves were infantry and some few light vehicles. They easily killed those, and it was time for the next stage.

Unlike in the city, fire lines were much more free, and for the revenants and wraiths, it ment they could lob their shots properly and not get interrupted.

This proved troublesome, as they had to constantly move and fire to avoid being stationary targets. It was honestly good practice as she slung missiles at distant targets.

While her gun could hit at 2+ km, the accuracy was dubious. Not a bad thing for AA, but precision shooting was not in the cards. The missiles though were definitely line of sight. Plus with how fast they were, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Their troubles began when fast moving banshee's started to strafe them while they were dodging artillery. Only one of us had AA missiles, and she was ordered to make flyers her priority target.

It was difficult, dodging the strafing runs, the artillery, and returning fire all at once. She occasionally managed to swat a banshee but her focus was on the ground vehicles and infantry assaulting them.

Things got worse when wraiths and dropships started appearing. They concentrated fire on the dropships first, then she left the AA work to her teammate.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

It was difficult, but eventually they won the day. While harder overall, they were less damaged today. Likely due to the room they had to maneuver around. The day ended, and they once again came back for their final challenge.

They had requested the forest map from the AI, and it obliged. They landed in a clearing in the middle of a dense forest.

"Clear out the edges with stomps, then get in position. I have no clue what's going to come." She said.

We got to work breaking shrubs, bushes, small trees and other concealing foliage. It didn't take long, and we now had better lines of sight onto the forest proper.

The first wave was grunts. A few rounds and it was the next wave. Jackles, to the same effect. But, she had a feeling about what was coming.

"Look alive. I'm betting heavy on inf, with some light vehicles as a side." I say. While you could use heavier vehicles, their lines of fire were much shortened, so mobile infantry, maybe some ghosts and such...

Things were going as predicted. Wave after wave came, and it was infantry with the occasional light vehicle. Things took a left turn when a call came from their AA MK9.

"Ping on radar, coming in above!" They called.

She cursed, and cleared what few enemy's she could see, before turning. A phantom came streaking in, sides down. They opened fire, but it's troops discharged, flying at them.

  "FROGGERS!" She called.

They began maneuvering, trying to avoid grenades that were thrown on descent. A few had fuel rods, which made dodging nigh on impossible.

She took a plasma grenade and fuel rod in quick succession, and she retaliated. She used her 40 to pick off targets as they dropped. One landed by her foot, so she stomped, creating a crater with blueish blood within.

"Clear em! I'll clear the trees." She said. She shot a squad of skirmishers, then switched to a mixed force of grunts and elites, when a green ball of plasma rocketed at her, striking her side.

"HUNTERS!" She roared, turning. She shot two missiles in quick succession, pasting the giant, before trying to find the second. The bastards tended came in two's.

A deep roar sounded, and the second hunter rocketed out of the forest, charging her. It shot wildly, and she desperately dodged. Her shields were down, and she did NOT want to git hit in any way by that thing.

She launched another rocket at it, then opened up with her 40mm. The beasts armor ricocheted a few rounds, leaving large dents, before a few rounds found chinks in their armor. The beast fell with a groan. She shot it a few more times, then turned.

She was taking hull damage now. The others had cleared the jumpers and shot down the phantom, and were now clearing out the forest. She joined them, and the wave was done.

Things went on a similar vein, until they had beaten the scenario. She walked away with severe leg damage, and a missing missile launcher. The others had damage across their entire mechs, but it was a victory. The enemy just hatred her this time.

And with that, the three scenarios had been beaten. Soon, she could fiddle with one in reality. And boy, if these simulations were any indication, it was going to be a great time.
