Class Is In Session

  Chapter 30

  Class Is In Session

  Maurice:

The new building is huge. I had already set my class room up. Each wall has a theme. History with world maps and important dates, math rules of math, equations symbols and other math related things, English and literature has the rules of nouns, pronouns and even the rules for dangling participals and quotes from books. I even put in a science lab. This is definitely an all in one classroom. Since Dorian is older I put him off to the side so he can do his work but close enough where I can help him if he needs it. I put the kids desk in a line. I insisted the paint being chalk board paint so I didn't have to worry about a black or dry erase board. So the walls are different colors for each subject. Since the room doesn't have windows it makes the room less dull. I hope the kids like it. I do have out door activities for them so they aren't cooped up all the time. Kids needs sun just like plants do. Matter of fact that is on of our science experiments. We are going to grow a butterfly garden and butterflies. The butterflies will be grown in their bedrooms. Each class is only 2 hours so we will work on on subject a day. I will let the kids decide the schedule. Testing will be on Saturdays though.

I walk the kids to our circular room. There eyes light up with surprise. Johanna ask when I had time to set this up since it was only completed this morning. I tell the truth. I was setting up the room as soon as it was finished. I worked all night on it.

I explain the plan of studying one subject a day, but the schedule stays the same and test for all subjects will be on Saturdays. I ask what would they like to study first. They huddle up discussing the matter. They finally break from their huddle and Vlad says since today is Monday we decided Math. Killian, Tuesday History, Jo Wednesday will be Science, Geneva English on Thursday Literature on Friday. Perfect I say. Let's get started. Dorian of you need anything let me know. Ok he says and gets started on his laptop.

  Vlad:

Resse is it just me or does time seem to be moving slowly. It feels like we have been here all day. We have already done this months Math work.

  Geneva:

Something is going on with the time Resse. It's definitely slower and it's not the math that is making it drag on.

  Dorian.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

I have already finished my work for the year. I shouldn't have finished this fast. That was 3 months worth of work.

  Jo:

If time keeps doing what it's doing, we will be the youngest high school graduates ever. Guinness Book of Word Records here we come!

  Maurice:

They are right! I link dad and ask about time telling him the kids has already done a months worth if work and Dorian has finished all of his and his should had taken 3 months. Dad informs me that Thoran slowed down time giving them enough time to try to cure Wayne from the darkness. That they are almost finished and to go ahead and give the kids their monthly test. I tell him ok and do just that. I load up Dorians Exit Exam too. He needs to pass that for him to graduate. The kids finished their test and I grade them. No surprise the all made 100 percents. Unfortunately the school has to grade Dorian's work and test but before he submitted it I double checked. I link Cat telling her the great new. She could really use some good news in her life right now. Then I sent the principal an email telling her that Dorian has completed all his work and has just taken and submitted his exit exam. She emailed back saying she has received it and ran it through the program. Dorian passed only missing 3 questions and she will be delivering his diploma personally in a few minutes and sent me a scanned copy of it so I could copy it and give it to him.

  Dorian:

I have something for you. He came up to my desk and I handed him a copy of his diploma. I tell him that the school principal is on her way to hand deliver the real one to him.

  Dorian:

I did it! I actually did it! I'm the youngest high school graduate in the family! I'm jumping up and yelling. YES! YES! YES! The little ones come and give me hugs and kisses on my cheek telling me congratulations. Geneva says. I know you can't go to college until you're 16 but at least you can start your warrior training instead of coming to school now. Humm 2 extra hours of warrior training. One in the morning and the other in the afternoon. That would be perfect. I tell her thanks for reminding me of that and give her a big hug.

  Maurice:

Finally the bell goes off indicating the end of class. Cat runs into the room and grabs Dori into a tight hug, Dad and Mom follow. Dad picks Dori up and spins him around until they are both dizzy and fall down. I look at Master Thoran and tell him. Time may have dragged today but it was perfect. He smiles and says I'm glad everyone had a productive day. Dorian caught on to what had happened as did the rest of the kids. Dorian shook his hand and told him. I know there is a different reason why you slowed time but I want to say thank you. I never would have graduated today if it wasn't for you. The little ones ran up to Thoran hugging him and thanking him too. The poor man didn't know what to do about 4 freight trains coming at him at once and was nearly knocked off his feet by their force.

Today was a great first day of school. I hope the rest of our days are just as productive but I hope if Thoran slows time again it's a day when it's a less boring subject. Science and Literature days would be perfect for a slow day.
