Making Learning Fun

  Chapter 27

  Making Learning Fun

  Tanchi:

It's 4:30am. Luna is in the kitchen prepping for breakfast. In 30 minutes the kids will be starting home school. I walk in and ask Luna if she could use some help. She smiles and hands me a knife and I begin cutting up the vegetables in front of me. It doesn't take me long to chop, cube and mince. Being a master in weapons makes it easy. I notice Luna has tears in her eyes. I give a questionable look. She wipes her eyes and says it's just from the onions. Sure I say. Now are you going to be honest with me or are we going to pretend something isn't bothering you? She nods and sits down at the breakfast bar. I sit in front of her. She begins telling me that shevis scared for the kids, not of their destiny but that all of this is too much for them to handle at such a young age. She goes through their schedule with me.

I listen carefully to her concerns and take notes.

  POOF! A PLAN FORMS.

My eyes light up and Luna notices and asks me what is wrong. Nothing is wrong at all Luna. I have a plan so the kids won't get burned out by their hectic schedules. Your children are like super geniuses. I know I can make my training like a game for them. Do you have any carnival games laying around like Balloon pop, shoot the ducks, a dart board, anything like those.

Her eyes are big as saucers as she grasps what I want to do. She links someone and tells me everything will be ready by the time my class starts. Thank you so much Master Tanchi, she told me. I tell her to drop, please call me Tan. She tells me to call her D. Just like that we solved a problem that could have caused major issues. If a child gets burned out, it causes then to lose all focus and for these children that could mean the difference between life and death.

I tell D that we can discuss her issues with the others while the kids are with Maurice and see if they have ideas to make their class fun. She hugs me this time as Alpha comes in. If he was like some other of the Alphas, he would have pulled her away from me, beat her senseless and killed me. I was waiting for that to happen but it didn't. She wiggles her finger for him to come over and he does. She tells him the plan I came up with and to say I was shocked by his embrace is an understatement. He gave a huge bear hug swinging me around like we were at a square dance, all he could say was THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Nome, Thoran, and Uncle come in and I'm sure they thought I was either being murdered or molested. They surely didn't understand the sight before them. Alpha releases me and I'm so dizzy from him spinning me like a top, I almost fall on my ass. I catch myself on the bar and when my world stops spinning, I explain D's dilemma to everyone and how I solved it on my end. Alpha grabs D. and does the same dance he did with me. When he's done, he is so dizzy he falls on his ass and we all laugh, he is laughing so hard he has tears in eyes. He gets up and walks toward me again. I throw my hands in front of me telling him WOW BUDDY I CAN'T DANCE WITH YOU AGAIN! He laughs again and says that's just my way of expressing how happy I am that you helped the love of my life. I smile a sincere smile and tell him he is welcome. I was glad I could help. He tells me everything I asked for is being constructed as we speak. He says he will finish cooking breakfast since we have had a productive morning already. D laughs and starts grabbing glasses to pour the juice. Nome gets the juice out of the fridge, hands it to Thoran and he pours the glasses full. Uncle gets the juice and puts it back. Alpha gets his glass and raises it high, TO FAMILY OLD AND NEW! We raise our glasses to salute him. He tells us as he's cooking the omelets, that we are to call him Jack or Jackson. No more of this Alpha, Alpha Prince stuff and D says the same. Uncle, Thoran and Nome. Look at each other with recognition. A family. A real family. This is not a play. This is real. We may have been called in to do a job but this isn't just a job anymore. It's family helping family. D looks sad again. This time Nome asked her what was wrong. She told us she will tell us after breakfast when the kids are with Monk that we will meet in their bedroom since it's soundproofed. We nod in agreement.

Jack has just finished breakfast when what sounded like a herd of elephants coming down the stairs. The kids are followed by Dorian, Nick, Catilena and Maurice. All laughing and excited like it's the first morning of summer break. Well it looks like everyone is excited to start the day.

After breakfast the kids go with Maurice to their new classroom that was built. Yesterday when D said she would like to have the houses connected and soundproofed with extra security features. Jackson wasted no time. He had 500 workers, working at once. The building was completed this morning. We hadn't had a chance to look at how it is set up yet. That will come after our meeting. Thoran, Uncle and I clear the table while Catilena and Nick do the dishes. D. cuts her eyes telling us to follow her and Jack. We follow her up to a hidden door and into a bedroom. The room isn't what I expected from an Alphas bedroom. This room is warm and cozy just like the rest of the house. The bed is a king size canopy with sheer light blue curtains around it. Like a mosquito net. It has a couch, but it's worn but nit worn out. Just worn enough to be comfortable to sit on. An antique desk faces the window overlooking a beautiful hedge maze with neat stacks of papers on it. A sharp contrast to Jack's office. D. ask us to sit and make ourselves comfortable. She explains that this is not only her and Jack's bedroom but her office. The mosquito net canopy is because she likes the windows open on cool nights but doesn't like the bugs that come through the screens. She says I guess it's time for me to tell you why I asked you here. I will get straight to the point.

I think my parents are involved in the disappearances, I don't know how much they are involved but my gut is telling me they are behind them either directly or indirectly.

I know everyone has busy schedules but we need to try to heal Wayne to find out their involvement and what they are doing. I have already talked to Louis this morning about the mole must work at the hospital because how else would the two birth givers know I had a baby. It had to be someone who works there, no one in the pack knew I was even pregnant. We keep it top secret. Jack hugs her tight and ask if we could make time to pay the creature formally known as Wayne a visit. We have time now Uncle said.
