After the increase in Vegis’s metamorphosis, Drake came to Vegis while he was working and had a talk with him. Drake had the Book in his hand and was asking Vegis why a change happened so Vegis filled Drake in on the strange dream he had that night. They did some check ups on Vegis to see what has changed in him. There wasn’t much change in his chemical make up but for some reason, everything just worked better. After the check up, Drake checked the book to see if the other two had experience in an increase in their metamorphosis and it showed that Mitra went up 2% and Boreal went from 40% to 49%.

Days passed and it has been three months since they moved to the north. During this time, Mitra and Boreal shed their scales and leaves which left stronger ones in their place. Drake kept the scales and the leaves were sent to Doel to cross reference them in the literature. They kept some of them to make necklaces for Mitra and Boreal. Mitra’s scales when polished were clear and shown like gems. The leaves were flattened and put between two of the scales. The scales had the properties of gemstones and metal so they were able to fuse the scales into one piece, making a diamond shaped jewel with a leaf inside of it. Vegis had to spend a pretty penny for them to be done since they were strange materials.

The walls were done being fixed and the dorms were starting to be repaired. Vegis was moved from temporary patrol to laborer to help move materials. The humanoid clones were used to move more fragile items and the newest clone was used to carry loads meant for vehicles. The reason they had to use Vegis’s clones was that most of the workers and equipment were being sent to the guard’s dorm since it was the biggest one. Vegis was the only Clone manager allowed to be inside the building without permission so he was told to help out the workers. The reason why Vegis was the only one with clones in the area is because clones have the possibility to be hijacked and still be connected to the main body, slowly collecting information from them. This forces people with high clearance to not have clones since information leaks after a certain level could doom entire planets.

Most of the rooms in the lower floors were completely trashed when they started to do the dorms. The higher the floor was, the less destroyed it would become. After the 5th floor was the last floor that had any damage in it. The rooms had to have everything removed, from the walls, windows, ceiling, and floor. After they finished the demolition, they found strange lumps of flesh like fungus in one of the dressers that was being tossed out. These were sent to the labs but they couldn’t find anything about them. Because of this, it was hypothesized that this was a piece of a mutant that survived after separation from its main body. They did some experiments with it and it could absorb organic matter but grew more than what was given to it. They later froze it and sent it to the south labs for more study and containment.

Vegis had to deal with angry bureaucrats since their items were being tossed into the trash but Drake had them shut up with an announcement of having their end of year bonuses cut if they don’t stop harassing the workers. Vegis continued to help with moving things and noticed that most of the materials came from a company named Sol Cimex. Vegis looked it up and it is apparently a newer Maouin company. There were some strange rumors about its founder using unknown techniques and having esoteric origins. Vegis didn’t really care about it until he tried to look at the picture of them. No matter where he searched, he couldn’t find one. The closest thing he could manage to find was a portrait of them drawn by an artist who was very sensitive to mana and did abstract art.

The painting was a near exact copy to the sun entity that Vegis now thinks is Huitzlios. This confused Vegis since the gods from the Maouin system were said to be unable to directly interact with the material plane. Vegis decided after a while to not notify Drake about it since it could just be a coincidence and continued to work. Some of the replacement wall panels hold unseen patterns that only Vegis could notice. Vegis ran his mana through them but it had no effect. Seeing that he could do nothing, Vegis just let them through. Throughout the month, accidents seemed to happen to every worker except Vegis. It didn’t matter if they were working in the northeast or the southwest, they all had something strange happened to them. Some saw strange figures trying to chase them, others had strong flooring break under them, and many other things happened.

Near the end of the renovation, the unnatural accidents seemed to stop. Everyone was confused at this but they were happy for it to end. Multiple parties were held to celebrate the finished repairs and Vegis, Mitra, and Boreal hanging out with Drake to celebrate the new rooms.
