C9 Information about the Job

Vegis spent the remaining time he had just absolutely abusing the targets. By the time his time slot was finished, only 1 of the titanium targets and the Msteel target was still in shape. The brass target was a misshapen amorphous blob, the steel target was a pile of scraps, and the destroyed titanium target was bashed into the rough shape of a ball. Vegis had fractured the bones of his hands and feet 19 times during this. This was a major increase in breaks compared to his average of 10. The targets and their remains were then dropped at the end of his time and 5 new targets shot up to replace them.

Vegis walked out of the building and started to read a second message that had details about the job and was sent while he was beating up the targets. It started with the schedule for him. He would be on site from Friday to Monday, and will be on the night shift. He will be there to replace the guards' water, clean the floors, check on any reported problems/mess, and to fulfill any basic task assigned by higher ranking staff. He was expected to keep at least a basic level of health and combat training.

It was pointed out in the description that due to the location, if one doesn’t have this, they will likely be killed if they step outside the main perimeter of the sites. To make sure this would be an easy task, the guards exercise room is opened to all since it was originally just the public gym. He would be sent to 2 places depending on the season During the summer months, they will be sent deep into the south which holds both uncontainable prisoners and scientists who are deeply interested in the energy sapping properties the southern continent holds.

In the winter months, he would be sent to the northern pole that holds scientists and hunters. The scientists in both places think there is a connection to it so Vegis and the other clone grunts are constantly moving to each of the poles to see the effects on the unmodified human body. They needed clone grunts to make sure the bodies don’t randomly explode which happened to uncontrolled ones. This also helps them see what inner effects it has that can’t be normally detected.

By the time Vegis was done reading all the smaller details and things deem less important, he had arrived at the elevator hub. The sun was setting and storm clouds were forming. He took the empty elevator down and after 10 minutes, it shot down with only him in it. Vegis was thinking of how this would affect his other stuff and realized that he would probably have less time to talk to them in real life due to most people having time off on the weekend.

Vegis walked out of the elevator hub and headed to his apartment. He was thinking who else was hired other than him. “Why did they need so many clones? What is it that causes the bodies to explode? Why are they paying so much?,” passed through his mind and eventually he got into his apartment. Vegis showed, changed, ate, and brushed his teeth before sleeping.

Vegis opened his eyes and saw a place he hadn't seen in a while. It was the mind space from his soul test. He saw a mirror, and through it, was him, but older. His left arm was torn, and a metal pipe was sticking out of it. A liquid was dripping out of the pipe, it burned with the light of a thousand suns. His eyes were both cybernetic and were like the night sky. His legs were cracking, like china. Inside the cracks, a deep red glow occasionally was released. His right arm held something.

Vegis raised his arm, and so did the one in the mirror. He opened his right hand and saw in the mirror that a sprout was growing out of the hand in the reflection but when Vegis looked at his own hand, there was a gem. Then the one in the mirror punched forwards and broke through the mirror containing it.

Cold. That was what Vegis felt as he woke up screaming. He immediately tried to sit before smashing his face into a metal beam that was sprouting his destroyed wall. This caused blood to fall from his nose and smear against the beam. Vegis held his nose and rolled out of his bed to try and stand up. When he did, he saw his blood that was smeared on the beam being absorbed into it. Vegis tried to open his door but it wouldn't open. After some time, this pillar that broke his wall shot out and crashed into another building far from this spot.
