Seeing that there was nothing else to fix, Vegis changed back into his pvp and tore a scroll to teleport to the closest open arena entrance. Vegis was then shone with a bright white light and disappeared from his spot, reappearing near a massive platform with a door. There were 30 people here, a lot more than what was usually for these parts.

  Vegis walked to this small crowd and asked one of them, “Hey, it's been a while since I logged in, what is with the crowd?” to which they answered with, “Oh, there is an arena event happening next week so everyone is practicing.” Vegis nodded at this and then walked to the entrance. He walked past it and arrived inside a colossal coliseum. Around 30% of the seats were filled with players and with another 40% of the seats being NPC stand-ins for people who were watching from outside the game.

  Vegis looked at the 2 paths in front of him, one to the seats above and the other to the fighting area. He walked to the fighting area and saw 4 matches happening, 7 people waiting for someone to fight them on a column, and 9 empty columns . Vegis walked around and decided to fight the only Fae fighter in the area. He walked to the stage where the elf was and asked to fight. They nodded and hit the fight button next to them. This raised the column and transformed it into a wide platform. When the column was done changing, a count down started.

  The elf shot the mana arrow that as it flew towards Vegis turned into a boiling spike of water. As soon as it slammed into the shield, it instantly vaporized, spreading a mist and burning Vegis’s arm behind the shield. This forced Vegis to summon one of the thrown cards to cool down the shield faster by shooting a jet of water on it which had the consequence of making more steam and clouding Vegis’s vision.

  Spotting movement, Vegis charged forward but only clipped the side of the elf. The elf reacted by trying to stab Vegis’s neck from his left side. Vegis retaliated by swinging his shield arm into the elf, sending them flying toward the edge of the platform. They regained their footing only 3 steps from the edge and shot 3 mana arrows that struck the shield and grew into plants that bind it to the floor.

  Vegis opened the strap on the shield and let it go. He then unsheathed his sword from his side and removed a buckler from the larger shield. The elf was sneaking through the fog they made but then stepped on a card. Sensing this, Vegis activated it which caused flaming chains to wrap around their legs and ran towards them. Seeing this, the elf threw their bow at him and pulled out a machete. The elf slashed at the card after coating it with ice and water.

  It took 3 strikes before the card broke and the chains to dissipate. At the same moment, Vegis swung his sword down at the elf’s head but only managed to cut into their armored shoulder. Vegis had to step back since the elf fought back by slashing at his knees. The elf stomp their burnt leg down and use their magic to force the stone of the platform to try and stab Vegis’s gut. This was blocked by the buckler but this heavily dented it and pushed Vegis back a couple of steps.

  Vegis then swiped his sword across the elf’s eyes and managed to blind them. The elf in response tried to blow everything off the platform with a tornado. Vegis manages to blow a hole in the tornado and stabs into the chest of the elf and finally defeating them.

  The platform slowly went down and returned all the equipment to the fighters. It dropped the 2 to the floor as it transformed back to a column. The elf sat up with their body restored and nodded at Vegis. “Good fight” was all they said before the elf just got up and left the arena. Vegis left the arena soon after this and used another scroll to teleport back to his shed. As the light from the teleportation faded, he saw a friend log in. “Oh, Hi Elly, I just finished fixing the breastplate.”(Vegis) “Thanks Ve, it's been a while since I’ve seen you online.”(“Elly”) “Yeah, I will probably be online for the next 3 days until my new job finishes all the bullshit they need.”(Vegis) “OH, you got a new job. What happened to the last one.”(“Elly”) “Just budget cuts and layoffs. Do you still have that job at the clone and modification facility?”(Vegis) “Yep. Why are you asking?”(“Elly”)

  Vegis thought for a moment whether or not to tell her details about his new jobs. Eventually, he thought he should and opened his mouth to answer. “My new gig has me controlling some clones for the council.” Elly nodded at this and spoke, “Well that’s pretty good. I’m going to have some fun hunting, see ya.”

  Vegis waved goodbye and took out his damaged gear from the battle. He was checked to see if the fire was still on and added some more coals to it. He took out 2 ingots and forged them into 8 cards and started to do some detailed work to infuse it with mana and cut some sigils into them to make each card have a predetermined effect.

  After he got done with the cards, Vegis heated up the buckler and did his best to reforge it. It took 30 minutes for Vegis to repair it fully. When he was completed with this task, he finally sat down and stared at the scenery around the shed. After an hour of staring into the land around him, Vegis logged off and went to sleep.
