Vegis had to spend the entire day to get all the tests done and the results would be sent to him next week. The tests were hard to do, not because they were complex, but that most of the instruments couldn’t pierce his body. They tried to stab his skin, gums, eyes, cut hair, and other things. They tried to suck the blood through his skin but it barely worked. The only thing that worked was the needles and tools that were used on the mutant megafauna like the 4 winged wyvern. The materials used to make these items were orichalcum(mana saturated brass). The high conductivity allows more mana to be able to be packed into it naturally and thus able to change the materials more.
For some reason, whatever caused Vegis’s body to change color reinforced his flesh to new levels of durability and strength. Other than scans and biopsy they did, they did other things to try to analyze how Vegis changes, like making him pull on things and other things that test his physical capabilities. Vegis’s strength has increased by 83%, speed 31%, reaction 209%, endurance 27%, and information processing has increased by 94%. This was a shocking revelation to everyone who was there to witness this. The doc and nurse ask if he has been doing or taking anything special and Vegis answers with a shake of his head. He had been overweight before he got here and was slimming down over the time he was here, but now he lost most of the fat on him. This was strange since he still weighs the same.
The visible changes on Vegis were numerous and strange. His skin gained a slight gray tinge to it, his black hair gained gray streaks in it that glowed when directly exposed to mana, his teeth got a metallic sheen to them. On his chest, a diamond shape formed out of pure metal that had sprouted lines that went all over his body. An eye-like pattern formed on his forehead that constantly shifts in directions it's looking in. On his back, a wing pattern was from the line. They weren’t like birds or bats. It was like an insect's wings that had been put through a low poly game. In the lines, mana seemed to flow passively instead of actively pumped around the body from the likes of mana circulation.
This baffled the medical staff so they called on the help of the biologist of the base. The biologist looked through the records and only found mentions of something like this from those who live in the Maouin system but that confused them even more. This shouldn’t be possible for a human to contain. Trials for stuff like this proved that constant mana circulation is extremely fatal to a human. They had to grab a mana tool specialist to see what effects the patterns had. The only thing they could tell was that the wing pattern had 3 functions: materialization, propulsion, and a barrier.

As time passed, Vegis noticed something. His sensitivity to mana had increased 2 fold. Originally, he was like a person with cataracts and horribly nearsighted, now he has perfect vision. The more he got acclimated to the changes, the more he could sense. He could feel the minutiae changes in the flow of mana in the room. If he concentrated, he could even see it in shades of colors that he could not describe. The group ask him to do a small spell to which he tries to conjure a small weak flame.
On the tip of his middle finger, there was a flame shooting out like a blowtorch with a bright blue tinge. Vegis felt the room grow noticeably hotter and asked what the temp was. The others noticed it and went out of the room to check and noticed that somehow, the room had gone up from 20°c to 37°c. The flame released an incredible amount of heat to do this in the large room. Vegis stopped it before it could cause too much damage but was still shocked at the result. He could feel that he only used a little of the mana inside of him and that the extra power came from the attraction of the mana in the air.
This alone made the small group think that Vegis should be put under as a study specimen from all the changes in him that were abrupt. They contacted Doel about this but got rejected since Vegis was still an employee of theirs and was thus under the protection of labor laws. Doel did, however, say that Vegis would have to have regular medical check ups since this is such a radical change. Vegis got sent back to the dorms and when he slept, he had a normal dream.
Doel checked on what the captured drakkin look-alike. She was still bound up, but hovering behind her was a sword and shield. They glowed with power but only floated around. The woman remained unconscious so Doel kept her bound just in case. She was an anomaly of the highest degree. She looked like a drakkin, but was only 30% drakkin. She was 60% wyvern (modified lizard) and 10% human. She had similar patterns to Vegis which were unique to them. Doel never heard of such patterns except for 1 thing. An old legend from both the Drakkin and Magi people. It was part of their religion, the very root of it actually.
It matched the descriptions of a specie of ancient creatures that appeared in their shared holy script. They seemed to have They seemed to have dragged out an apostle of the sun and transformed another into the beast of dawn and dusk.
