Vegis ignored the strange dream and its results at first. 1 time is by chance, the second time it happened, it was just a coincidence, but three times, that is a pattern. It happened randomly every time Vegis slept. It would start as a normal dream but then she would invade it and torture him. Vegis couldn’t tell if this was a piece of trauma from the incident or it was a foreboding message of what will come.
It has been a month since the incident happened and most things have returned to normal. The examination had been pushed back since there were others more injured from the hole that was blasted into the lab. Almost 500 meters of earth evaporated and caused some much damage to the other floors. It was only by luck that the light didn’t directly strike the other rooms.
Vegis was done with his shift for the week and went to bed after eating. He was in the middle of another recurring dream he had. He was flying around the galaxy in a ship that doesn’t exist. It could fold space itself without the help of magic. He was flying around when the ship stalled and a black hole tore its way into existence behind him.
The propulsion system of the ship exploded from collision with space debris and it got dragged to the event horizon. Vegis could feel the pull of the black hole as his ship sunk into it and was torn apart. And then, as if the lights were turned off, Vegis could see nothing. After what felt like hours passed, his body began to lengthen and stretched for both the pull of gravity and the warping of space began to destroy his body.
An explosion of light came from the direction of the singularity which somehow reformed his body into its normal state but froze him in place. From the remains of the singularity were the drakkin women and a tear in reality which shot out flaming chains and pure light. The chains did the same thing it always did in the dreams, imprisoning him and burning into his flesh. The women however didn’t follow the same routine though. Instead of blasting off his skin, she got close to him and whispered something into his ear.
“Give them back” was all she said before Vegis’s skin exploded as a flood of light left his body and wrapped around his spirit. Over the course of the repeating dreams, his astral body started to gain traits of the women. Instead of waking up after he was completely covered, he stayed and could feel the changes taking place. Dust collapses into the shape of bones, blinding and resilient.

Blood flowed out and then turned into nerves, veins, and his heart. Flakes came off the heart and formed muscles and tendons that felt as though they held the power to collapse the beating heart of the stars. Some of the muscles transformed into organs. His eyes regrew from the blood and muscles combining with a sensor of the ship allowing him to see everything down to the quarks and atoms that made up the fragments of the ship.
The cocoon expanded and consumed the rest of the ship. When it shrank, the metal of the ship was compressed and reforged, becoming his skin and scales. Wire transformed into black hair and the engine fused with his heart. He was all but complete and just 1 thing was needed. The cocoon unfurled around him and condensed into wings of light and hovered just off his back.
The 2 fragments that were stuck in his head and chest broke off of him and returned to the women. In her hands, they finished the sword and shield. Vegis could see with his eyes closed, but when he opened his eyes, he woke up and light shot out. Blood shot out 2 opened wounds located where the fragments were. His pale skin had turned more silvery and gray. Vegis did his best to get out of bed and headed down stairs. He lumbered his way to the front desk and hit a special button and then collapsed on the ground. Healer was what the button said.
In just 30 seconds, they arrived and found the fallen form of Vegis and took him to the infirmary. They managed to heal the wounds but couldn’t wake him up. It wasn’t until the next day did Vegis regain consciousness. He was restrained to the bed with chains since while he was unconscious, he was thrashing and breaking things. After he woke up, Vegis called out, “Hey, I am awake. Why am I in chains?” All he heard after this was crashing noises and then the curtain at the foot of the bed was opened.
The doctor appeared and was breathing heavily since he ran over here. He looked at Vegis and in between deep breaths spoke. “Its… has been… only a… month. Why… have… you… changed… so much?” Vegis responded by trying to shrug his shoulders. This only caused the doc to become more exasperated before he calmed himself and started to talk. “Okay, it seems like the healing is back on the menu for you, but we don’t know why. We would like to do a in depth examination on you since you have gone through a radical change” Vegis nodded at this and then the doc unlocked the chains.
