Vegis had to roll out of the way of the torrent of flames that left the mouth of the wyvern. He had to distract it so it doesn’t accidentally kill one of the other personnel but with its new power and changing form, that would be a difficult task. The wyvern’s body started to glow with a blinding light and shot flames everywhere, agitating the other creatures in the other cells.
Vegis and V3 stood at opposite sides of the obscure beast and tried to form a barrier around the creature to stop it from damaging the cell too much, V2 did its best to dampen the noises released from all the strange activity, and V1 held the needle spear. V1 tried to run up to the glowing ball and stab it but the heat the ball released vaporized the end of the spear and turned the remaining shaft of the spear bright white and even slightly blue.
Vegis had to command V1 to get out of the barrier as its body was covered in 4th degree burns. The bones of its hands were visible and blackened from heat. It was barely held together by the tendons and carbon nanotubes that were used to enhance them. When V1 got out, it released the smell of cooked flesh from all over its body. Vegis had to dive into V1’s mind to cast a stasis spell on its body for the damage had reached fatal levels.
The barrier stopped the flames from damaging the surrounding but then it started to glow brighter and then let out a pulse of pure energy that broke the barrier and sent everyone flying into the walls of the cell. Vegis got up unsteadily and had to use a wall to support himself. The blast caused tons of damage to Vegis with broken bones, lacerations, and blindness being the main problems he needed to deal with.
Around the thing, a vortex of mana slowly started to form, sucking in all the mana in the air and making the mana in the walls to leach out which weakened it. After nearly a minute, Vegis regained his sight and saw that the light seemed to form a cocoon around the wyvern with the mana in the vortex feeding it.
Vegis couldn’t move from the fear and dread he was feeling as he stared at the light cocoon. It was as though the light it released put pressure on him, making movement very hard to do. The security team returned after this happened and more were surely coming on the way but this didn’t matter for it released another pulse and froze them in their place.

With a crash, light broke from the ceiling and smashed into the cocoon, making it brighter. The light seemed to compress the ball, making it smaller. Over the course of 5 minutes, the ball went from the staggering size of 10 meters to a meager 2 meters. This didn’t seem to weaken it, but actually made it stronger for more light was blasted out of it.
Cracks soon began to form all around the condensed ball and banging noises could be heard from it. They got progressively louder and the ball started to shake. Each shake and bang made the cracks bigger. This continued until the cocoon couldn’t hold on and exploded, shattering the cell walls and sending fragments of both the cell and the cocoon everywhere. The clones were peppered with smaller fragments that dug into their remaining flesh and Vegis himself got struck with 2 larger pieces, one in the forehead and one chest.
What remained where the cocoon exploded was a large tear in reality and something that was familiar to few who were among the frozen people. It took the form of a drakkin. A woman with metallic scales popped in and out of existence all over their skin and 2 sets of wings that showed the same light as the cocoon.
They looked around in curiosity and walked forwards with some difficulty. Then it raised its hands and most of the fragments of the cocoon came back to it, forming armor around it. The only fragments that struggled were the 2 large chunks that dug deeply into Vegis’s body.
It turned towards Vegis and tilted its head in confusion. But as soon as it tried to walk to him, chains made of ice came down from the large hole that was formed in the ceiling and binded the newly transformed creature. A figure descended from the hole and it was Doel.
The magi looked at the creature that held a resemblance to a thing from their home system and began muttering things that only it could hear. Vegis could only pick up one thing. “How was this possible,” was the last thing Vegis heard before passing out and falling to the floor.
Doel grabbed all the affected personnel and headed to the infirmary with a scowl on their face. It was trying to figure out how a drakkin spontaneously appeared in its facility and why a larger crack had formed. Its need for answers would need to wait as the ones with the answers were all unconscious.
