Vegis had spent the last 3 months here in the Southern station. It has been a strange time but Vegis has improved his control a lot. V1 has figured out speech and basics of talking in reports while being the most dexterous of the clones and can use the tools the most. V2 has figured out how to sneak properly and learned how to conceal itself by manipulating the mana around it. It knows how to make as little noise as possible and seems to have an innate understanding of perception and stealth. V3 has become the most impressive of all. It has gained not only a great control over mana, it has been able to use spells without Vegis needing to directly controlling them.

  This didn’t mean Vegis did nothing and only trained the clones, he did some practice too and studied a couple of subjects like some old earth jobs that had solutions that he could use. The main problem he had was trying to replicate the solutions without injuring himself. The mana burns healed but left dark discoloration all over his arms. Vegis didn’t get them repaired to remind himself to not overdo it again with the spells.

  Vegis had 2 months before he would get a month of down time before he got sent to the north station. Vegis had to deal with many more incidents that did get very hairy for Vegis like when in a bout of madness due to a lack of sunlight, one of the biologists tried to free the most aggressive specimen they had by causing an absolute shit storm in the east wing. It took a week to capture all the creatures and to clean, fix, and upgrade the containment cells.

  Another thing Vegis had to do was help in the construction of a “sun room” in every large lounge in the underground lab to help lessen the widespread mania that come from scientist catch after ignoring the safety rules that are in place. This had reportedly reduced incidents caused by staff mental issues by 37%. The only issue this caused was that there would need to be a limit for how long people can be in the sun rooms due to items used to make the artificial suns in them.From what Vegis understand of the items and his knowledge about them, the items seem to have a strong tie to the Drakkin god of the sun Huitzlios which shoots mana waves that can influence people to pray.

  This can be counteracted by restricting people's access to it to the bare minimum. It also seems to have similar properties to the anomaly in the north pole and is thus used on the test subjects to calm them down. This has drastically improved the funding margins that the lab has since they no longer needed to drug the beast to gather samples.

  Now, a small team of security personnel, scientists, and Vegis or one of the clones with one of the false suns is needed to gather the samples. Security was responsible for the scientist’s health and will only help Vegis subdue the animal after they escorted the important people away first. This did increase the number of security personnel in the underground since the injury rate has gone up, but it was way cheaper to heal the security guards than it is to buy the sedatives since the strange biology and mutations of the beast made the needed concentration of strange sedatives very high.

  This allowed Vegis to get closer to the security staff and learned that they are about to install sorctech cameras since the Maouin system decided to release a new camera formulation that can connect to Mcomputers. This would allow for them to have a faster clean up time since they would know which areas have been affected without having to scour an entire floor.

  Vegis was currently eating food inside the janitor’s lounge. He had recently made a small fridge with some help from the old world manuals he was reading. He managed to have a chemist in one of the higher floors to help him make isobutane and formed a complete refrigerator system in one of the cabinets that were in the room. It took many attempts for Vegis and the others to make it good and not leak, but after 2 days, he got it up and running well.

  This allowed not only Vegis to hold things down there without worry but also the others in the other shifts. This allowed Vegis to ask a few favors from them and now Vegis has access to a better eye sooner than he originally would have. Vegis now replaced his old left eye with a sorctech one that allows him to see the flow of mana without using a spell himself.

  Vegis got up and did some stretches before exiting the lounge and heading to his clones in the main closet. Inside, they were sitting down and gathering mana. V3 was the fastest with V2 only being slightly behind it. V1 was barely gathering any mana so Vegis had to manually replenish its reserves. The reason why Vegis had them top out their mana was because he needed to help get samples from the 4 winged wyvern.

  Vegis wanted to make sure no accident happens this time because the wyvern seemed to have a resistance to the false sun and could still attack albeit with less focus. Vegis went down to Level 40 to get the mini sun and his gear to subjugate the beast if it acts out. The materials of the spears were upgraded and reinforced since the wyvern wrecked them last time.

  Vegis went to the floor where the east wing was on and saw the squad was already there and now they needed to wait for the scientist to come to them. It took 20 minutes for the biologists and vets to arrive. They seemed to be relaxed since they haven’t been attacked in the month they started to take the samples this way.

  Vegis rolled his eyes at this and had the clones lead the way to the great beast. Along the way, V2 spread out a small domain over them to silence their steps and to not allow them to be smelled. As soon as they entered the wyverns area though, the beast saw through the deception and dive bomb the group. This caused Vegis to let go of the box that contained the false sun and the subject ate it. “Fuck” was all that Vegis said as the asshole creature started to glow a little and started to breath fire at him.
