C15 Breakfast and Prep

Vegis got out of bed after hours passed. He did some light stretches and decided he would need to train to deal with the bullshit of the labs when he eventually got sent back to the level. He first thought about what he needed to focus on first. The big things that he could think of was coordination with the clones, direct control of them to send messages better, and giving them tasks and trying to have it be done automatically by them using their brains instead of him having to focus on them and tell them step by step directions.

He then thought of how one trains to increase one's ability to do these things. For the first one, he would need to train the third one and the second one is more of an independent thing. As he mulled over how to train himself and the clones to be better, Vegis felt hunger and decided to head to the cafeteria. He did a light sprint following the path to the center. It took him 3 minutes to arrive and then looked for the blue path that led to the cafeteria and followed it. When he entered it, the day was just breaking and the sky was a deep purple with bits of orange that could be seen over the walls.

Inside, there were a couple of guards that came off the night shift to eat just like him. He grabbed a tray and looked at the options. There were 5 buffet style tables with trays of food. The green one had veggies, fruits, and things made mostly of plants, the red one had cooked meats, the yellow one had dishes made mostly with animal products, the pink one had sweets, and the blue one had soups. There was also a smaller table that held seasonings and condiments that were arranged on a rotatable shelf. Vegis grabbed a loaf of bread, some sunny side up eggs, a thing of cheese, a type of bone broth, and some ham slices. Vegis then walked to a wall that had a countertop next to it and cutlery on top of it to take a knife and spoon.

After getting everything he needed for his breakfast, he walked to an empty table and sat down. He cut the loaf in 4 pieces, 1 cut was horizontal and the other was vertical. He used a light amount of fire magic to toast each piece and used 2 for a sandwich with the eggs, cheese, and ham. Vegis drank some of the bone broth and soaked one of the remaining pieces of bread into it before eating it. Nice and warm. It felt great in this winter landscape. After he finished the none sandwich pieces of bread and drank the remaining bone broth, Vegis felt a tap on his shoulder. “Hi Jess,” escaped his mouth as he turned around to see the mute girl. She waved back and sat down across Vegis with her tray of food that was a couple of stir fried veggies, a cup of diced fruit, an entire shoulder of meat, and a cup of hot chocolate. Vegis had started to become closer to Jess since they both had night shifts and often met each other in the Breakfast block.

“How was dealing with the guards on the wall?” Vegis said before biting into his sandwich. Jess responded with a wall of text that appeared between them that said, “Oh, it has been pretty fine. They don’t really do much other than play cards when they aren’t watching the perimeter or eating. How were the labs? I’ve heard from others that it's a nightmare.” Vegis nodded at this and spoke up. “Nightmare is an understatement. The things locked up down there are intelligent enough to stage break outs but aren’t sensitive enough to detect danger levels, making it hard to keep them alive whilst they taunt the more dangerous subjects.”

Jess frowned her face before turning it into a smile and another wall of text appeared. “That sounds like an absolute pain in the ass. What do you plan to do for you off time? I’m going to do some studying. They got some fascinating pieces about voice magic.” This made Vegis do a small smile before taking another large bite into his sandwich and some time thought into it. After he swallowed and cleared his throat, he spoke. “I was thinking of doing some training to help with my incoming shifts. It’s likely that I’ll be stuck there until we get sent to the north pole.”

Vegis then stood up and finished his sandwich before waving bye to Jess. Vegis looked at the map that was on the wall outside of the cafeteria and looked for a bigger place of trees. He saw that near the southeast side, there was nothing but trees and a couple of buildings. This was due to the higher-ups complaining about the view and having trees planted to make the area look less barren. Vegis ran back to the northeast to grab his clones to do some exercises with. It took roughly 3 minutes for Vegis to arrive and 5 for the clones to get there. All around the Vegis and his 3 clones was nothing but trees, grass and snow. They had to go off the main path to arrive at their current location.

The first thing Vegis did was expand his detection/sensory field to its max. Then, he walked around and over roots as he gave a simple command of follow Vegis to the clones. This made the clones follow him but they kept tripping over roots and slipping on the snow. Vegis then added to the follow command with commands like step over the roots and avoid the snow. This improved their ability to follow him. He then ran and the clones followed but still kept slowing down due to obstacles. Vegis stopped and waited for them to run to him and had them sit down.

Each clone had a small fragment of Vegis’s soul in them due to how a mental connection is maintained. What Vegis needed to do was have the clones grow these fragments with their own experience and not from commands from Vegis. To do this, Vegis is trying to have the clones think about the actions since while they are semi-conscious, they don't think further than the commands they were given. Vegis was thinking of other things that could help them develop more.

Then it hit him, he could teach them with games and relate it to other things.
