  After spending another seven months training my Energy Manipulation, I finally get the System Message I’m looking for.

  {Congratulations! Your General Skill ‘Energy Manipulation’ has reached Level 40! Would you like to expend a Monster Core to raise the skill to Tier 5?}

  “Yes!” I answer out loud with a faint smile, following which I feel a wave of quantum energy rushing over my body and my spatial ring for a single instant. Then I get another pair of System Messages.

  {Congratulations! Your General Skill ‘Energy Manipulation’ has reached Tier 5 Level 41!}

  [Energy Manipulation has been brought to Tier 5. Requirement to bring Energy Manipulation to Tier 5 has been cleared.]

  And that knocks out another requirement. Now I just need to bring Quantum Displacement to Ascendant Tier.

  I nod my head at that thought before going ahead and checking out my energy manipulation to see what has changed since reaching Tier 5. Only to find the energy around me being a lot easier to manipulate. So easy that it’s like the energy itself wants to be controlled by me.

  Interesting…

  I try to use several spells I’ve made over the years, and I quickly find them all to be a lot stronger than before. Without me even trying to make them stronger.

  That’s really nice.

  A smile spreads across my face at that before I go ahead and begin making preparations to train my Quantum Displacement. Starting with transforming into my True Form. Since I have an endless supply of energy for that form.

  And I’m not fighting anything. So there’s no reason not to.

  Of course, I transform outside of my house. Since I don’t actually know what would happen with that pillar thing if I tried transforming in my house.

  Then I teleport straight over to Astrid’s home to tell her about the little journey I’m about to take. One full of teleporting all over the place.

  Because I might as well explore the Dimensional Grid while I do this. Otherwise it’ll just get boring.

  I blink at that thought.

  Then again, I just spent a year and a half sitting in my room training Energy Manipulation.

  There’s not much more boring than that.

  Oh, and more importantly, traveling will give me the chance to find another Authority Shard. Making it so I won’t have to ask someone for that last shard.

  I’ll be traveling pretty much at random for probably two or three years to train this skill, so there’s a really good chance that I will find another Authority Shard.

  So with that in mind, I begin to teleport over and over again. Traveling all across the one hundred and eighth Dimensional Block in search of an Authority Shard.

  And when I don’t manage to find one, no doubt because most of them have already been claimed by now, I continue searching for Authority Shards in the neighboring Dimensional Blocks.

  But even after searching for weeks, I still don’t find any Authority Shards.

  It’s fine though. I’ll be searching for years after all.

  With that in mind, I just continue searching the various Dimensional Blocks one by one by teleporting all over the place.

  At some point while teleporting, I go ahead and check the leaderboards. Just out of curiosity.

  Hmm.

  Yeah, this is pretty much to be expected. I’ve spent a year and a half training after all.

  And three new Tier 5 dungeons have appeared in that time too.

  So now most of the people at the top of the leaderboards are Tier 5.

  My only worry is about how many people will reach Ascendant Tier before me. And if those people will cause me problems.

  After all, regardless of how strong I am, I’m not strong enough to take on a bunch of Ascendant Tier users fighting against me at once.

  In fact, even a single Ascendant Tier user might be a problem if they’re too high a level.

  The Ascendant Tier monster in that Dimension Dungeon is stuck at that level forever and will never level up again. At level 2501.

  There’s no other monsters in the dungeon to fight against after all.

  But that’s not the case for other users. They can continue leveling up after hitting Ascendant Tier.

  And I know there are a lot of people who don’t like me.

  The only reason they’re staying silent and avoiding me now is fear. But if they hit Ascendant Tier before me?

  That fear will vanish.

  I take a deep breath as I continue teleporting. And just like that, an entire year slowly passes. With Legendary Feat announcements ringing out every now and then, along with notifications about new Tier 5 dungeons spawning.

  Of course, that means even more people will be reaching the cap of Tier 5.

  But so far no one is at Ascendant Tier yet.

  Because it’s extremely difficult for anyone to reach Ascendant Tier. Regardless of the requirements.

  Even if it is a lot more difficult for a Class S species to reach it.

  In all honesty though, it’ll most likely be a Class A species or a human that reaches Ascendant Tier first. Not one of the people on the leaderboards.

  Which is an even bigger issue. Since I’m at least acquainted with most of the Class S species by now. And I’m friendly with quite a few of them as well.

  So they’re less likely to target me than a regular human or lower Class species.

  I grit my teeth as I continue teleporting everywhere to train Quantum Displacement.

  Here’s hoping that, if people do start targeting me, I’ll be able to avoid them through the very skill I’m training.

  If I could, I’d just go hunting targets to try to force the level-ups… but unfortunately, that doesn’t work anymore. Not ever since it started only leveling up my lower Tier skills.

  I sigh at that thought without halting my journey.
