Alexia
My battle with the Quantum Scribe starts almost immediately upon our appearing in an open field. With the scribe summoning forth hundreds of thousands of creatures while expressionlessly writing a script for everything to follow.
I, having long since been in my True Form, immediately begin to call down quantum lightning that I then redirect straight at the large army. Making shattering and glitching signs appear all around us as I no doubt break the script he was starting.
The Quantum Scribe blinks at the sight of it, only to begin summoning even more creations. Ranging in the millions instead of hundreds of thousands.
One after another, they begin rushing at me. And one after another, I slaughter them all.
But I quickly find a problem surfacing.
That problem being how I can’t seem to get close to the Scribe. Because when I try the first time and manage to do so, attacking him once and causing a cut on his side, he instantly begins summoning creations all around himself.
Burying himself in their masses to the point I can’t even find him amongst their number.
I narrow my eyes before sending quantum lightning all across the army with him inside of it. But I can’t tell if he’s been hit or not.
Then I feel something stabbing my back, startling me into teleporting away. Only to find the Quantum Scribe floating right behind where I was with a pen covered in my blood in his hand.
My eyes widen in shock at the sight of an attack I never saw in the second trial.
Not to mention the fact that he just fucking stabbed me with a pen of all things.
I glance down at my armor to find a pen-sized hole in it. Along with my side underneath it.
The damage isn’t actually that bad. Bad enough that I don’t even need to waste the energy reverting it quite yet.
But still. The fact that he snuck up on me so easily and stabbed me is disconcerting.
And what irritates me is the indifferent yet studious look on his face. Like he’s studying some insect.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
He’s even writing again already.
With my blood on the pen still.
And what’s worse is that the blood seems to be soaking into the letters, staining them the color of my blood.
The hell is he doing with my blood?
Out of nowhere, his body shifts as I blink. He’s just there one moment and gone the next. With no signs of teleportation.
Then I feel something stabbing my other side, making me teleport away again just to find him floating there with more blood on the pen that he’s using to write. And at the same time, more creations begin to appear all around us, forming an enormous army in seconds.
Fucking hell, he’s getting more and more annoying. Far more annoying than he was in the second trial.
Is this him taking me more seriously than the Corruptor in the second trial?
I quickly begin to deal with the summons while trying to pay as close attention as I can to my surroundings. Trying as hard as I can to spot even the slightest of spatial fluctuations.
But I don’t sense a thing even when I feel another stab while fighting the creations.
And once again, I teleport away. Except this time I make sure to revert all the damage now that the attacks are building up.
Which makes the Quantum Scribe narrow his eyes ever so slightly. Clearly taking note of it.
I narrow my eyes even further as I try to watch his every move. Keeping my eyes on him as much as I can while dealing with his creations.
But he just moves so smoothly I end up losing him every time.
Eventually I figure out what’s going on though.
Because he keeps writing something down the moment before vanishing every time. Making it obvious that he’s rewriting the reality around us to make him vanish from my sight.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not teleporting but straight up rewriting things so that he’s floating somewhere else.
And if that’s the case…
Without hesitation, I call down dozens of bolts of quantum lightning the moment he vanishes again. Having all the bolts strike me directly right before I feel his pen stab me again.
But this time the lightning travels from my body into the pen and into his body, making him let out an audible grunt of pain before vanishing again.
And when I see him again, he’s floating several dozen meters away with glitchy purple lightning running across his body and slowly fizzling away while leaving smoke. With a grimace clearly visible on his face.
Finally shattering that annoying indifferent and studious expression.
Even if only a little bit.
I raise a brow at him in challenge.
Which apparently proves to be a mistake as he narrows his eyes and begins writing something. Only to vanish again. Following which I call more lightning before feeling several blades stabbing into my back.
I blink in surprise while turning my head to see several of his creations attacking me at once and being annihilated by the quantum lightning running through me.
Then I feel another flash of pain. One directly on my chest going straight to my heart.
And when I look forwards again, I find the Quantum Scribe floating right in front of me with his pen elongated into some sort of rapier that’s stabbed directly into my chest and heart.
My soul begins to rapidly deplete from all the damage, and energy begins to flood my body as he pours his quantum energy into the sword. Ravaging my insides all at once and stopping me from reverting the damage since it’s still inside of me.
And even as I begin to raise my arms to grab at him, I feel the strength in my body giving out.
Following which everything goes dark, and I find myself reappearing in the first trial.
Having died.
