CHAPTER V The world Order takes over - 2

  Scene 05-2 The pyramid

Location: Alien site beneath the Nazca Lines.

  Time: 01.01.24 – 08:15 UTC-5.

Setting: From the cave chamber to the pyramid, crossing the gate in the orichalcum wall.

I couldn’t see anything. I heard water falling just ahead; the sound dropped into the void, vanishing in darkness for what seemed an endless space. Niajin’s cheekbone glowed faintly. I began to make out shapes — we were inside a tube. Beneath us, the base was riddled with holes: that’s why the water flowed away below, where the splash and the echo of the fall could be heard.

The walls of the tube were transparent, but Niajin’s light was too dim to illuminate more than a few steps ahead. We moved until we reached the opposite side, where a chamber opened in the rock, its floor perfectly smooth, made of the same golden metal. The chamber was large enough to hold a dozen people.

A sliding door closed behind us.

There was a click, then a mild acceleration. We were descending slowly, almost soundlessly. It wasn’t a vertical drop. It was slanted — we were sliding along the flank of a pyramidal structure, heading toward its foundation.

After ten minutes of descent, which felt endless, we reached the end of the path.

Everything ahead was dark; only the faint glow from Niajin’s feather illuminated a few meters around us. We couldn’t tell where we were or how vast the space was. We could only see dark shapes — trunks, foliage. Before us stretched a forest.

Niajin turned toward me. “We need light,” she said, as if it were something that could be requested.

And, to my surprise, so it did.

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

Before us, several glassy stones lit up along the sides of a red-earth path that led into the forest. The light was finally enough to reveal it. Enormous trees stood before us. I had never seen anything like it.

Niajin was ecstatic. “Oh, I know this place — I remember what it is! It’s the ancient tropical forest of the Amazon. Look: that’s the Ceiba pentandra, the kapok tree, with its massive buttressed trunk and fruit full of fibers — the tree that joins heaven and earth.

I know this place! — I played here so many times and learned so much here.” She reached out to touch the tree she’d just named, but instantly pulled her hands back.

“Oh… what’s this?” A thick, oily gel dripped from her fingers. Niajin touched the plant again and her hands were once more covered in that substance.

“It looks like a protective layer,” I said. “The forest couldn’t survive in the dark.”

“It’s gelified!” Niajin exclaimed, moving toward another tree and touching it. “This is a Heliconia rostrata — but you’re right, they’re all coated in a layer of gel!”

“I wonder how long they’ve been here,” I said. I had thought these plants were extinct — kept only in a few botanical gardens where no one can enter, except the most powerful.”

“Let’s move on,” I said — I wasn’t as fascinated as she was by that immense forest.

“Yes, we have to go on and follow the lights. They won’t last long.”

We walked for two or three hundred meters.

The light grew brighter for a few moments — the whole structure came alive. For those few seconds, before us, at the heart of the pyramid and the forest, rose a gigantic egg, its shell made of white feathers. It occupied a space too vast for us to grasp entirely.

  Then the light vanished.

We were back in the dark, only the path still visible. We retraced our steps, carrying that vision with us.

Niajin was silent, listening to voices inside her mind. She looked at me and said, “They’ve run out of internal power. The system is dying. It needs energy! The system is collapsing — and everything inside will die with it.”

We went back the way we had come. The chamber was waiting, ready to carry us upward. We emerged into the tube and crossed once more through the waterfall along the orichalcum wall.

Beyond the crystal hall the army was waiting — lined up in formation.

They gestured for us to step out and approach.

As soon as we crossed the threshold, we were arrested.

We were told that a high-ranking intelligence officer would question us as soon as possible.
