As the sun set, Angel’s Daughter joined Kate and her family for supper.
“You still haven’t told us where you came from” said Noel, with I hint of curiosity in her voice as she set the table.
“It doesn’t matter” Angel’s Daughter replied, “It was no longer safe for me, so I was forced to leave”
Noel only got more curious at this. “No longer safe? What, were you a guard or something?”
Angel’s Daughter thought for a moment. They had given her no reason not to trust them, yet she still felt uneasy about revealing her true self to them. If the word were to spread, she would have to travel with the constant fear of being attacked “I was a guard yes, but that’s all I was”
Noel still wasn’t satisfied “Why was it no longer safe?” she asked
“I had too many enemies and not enough allies”
Even this was not enough for Noel “What is your name?”she asked.
At this question, Angel’s Daughter finally broke. “Myname is Angel’s Daughter, the head of the royal guard, and the leader of the king's army. I left because the Thief Clan was after me” she paused as a tear ran down her cheek. “They forced me from my home because of a grudge, and now I’m homeless and friendless”
Kate had walked in just in time to hear the whole thing.
“Noel can’t you see that our guest is in pain? Please Angel’s Daughter. Sit and eat. It’s the least we can do”
The meal was simple but nourishing, and it gave her the strength she needed for her journey. Despite the kindness shown to her by Kate and her family, she could not shake the feeling of unease that came with staying in one place for too long. After supper, she gathered her belongings, thanked Kate and Noel for their hospitality, and prepared to leave. She stepped outside, the cool night air brushing against her skin, and began to walk away from the small cottage.

Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to see Noel watching her with an intense gaze. Before she could react, Noel raised her hands and muttered an incantation. A burst of magical energy hit Angel’s Daughter, knocking her to the ground. As she struggled to get back on her feet, three others appeared from the shadows. Their hands glowing with magical power ?“Angel’s Daughter” said Noel with malice in her voice “What luck that the greatest enemy of the Clan would be a guest at my house? You came into my house, ate my food, and sat at my table. And now,” she said as she raised her hands once more “It's time for you to pay what you owe” Noel's eyes gleamed with a sinister light as she chanted another spell, her hands crackling with blue energy.
Angel’s Daughter, despite her wounds, summoned her own magic, a glowing shield forming around her. The magical energy from Noel's spell clashed against the shield, sending sparks flying in all directions.
With a swift motion, Angel’s Daughter countered with a blast of wind, propelling Noel backward. Noel flipped in the air, landing gracefully on her feet.
"Impressive," she hissed, "but not enough." She launched herself towards Angel’s Daughter, her movements fluid and precise.
Angel’s Daughter barely had time to dodge as Noel's energy-infused fists struck the ground where she had been standing, leaving scorch marks. The two engaged in a flurry of acrobatic maneuvers, each using their magic to augment their physical abilities.
Angel’s Daughter leaped onto a nearby tree branch, using it as a springboard to launch herself at Noel. She aimed a powerful kick, but Noel reacted with lightning speed, catching her foot, and spinning her around before throwing her to the ground. Dazed, but determined, Angel’s Daughter rolled to her feet, summoning a burst of fire that encircled Noel. The flames roared, but Noel simply smirked and uttered an incantation that dissipated the fire into thin air.
"You'll have to do better than that," she taunted. With a swift gesture, Noel conjured a whirlwind that lifted Angel’sDaughter off her feet and hurled her into the air. As Angel’sDaughter struggled to regain control, Noel's allies joined the fray, their combined magical attacks bombarding her from all sides. She dodged and deflected as best as she could, but the relentless onslaught began to take its toll.
In a final, desperate move, Angel’s Daughter summoned all her remaining strength and unleashed a powerful shockwave, knocking her attackers back. She landed on the ground, breathing heavily, her energy depleted.
Noel, however, was already back on her feet, her eyes burning with fury. "Enough!" Noel shouted, her voice echoing with magical power. She raised her hands, and a beam of pure energy shot towards Angel’s Daughter.
Unable to muster any more defenses, Angel’s Daughter was struck head-on. The force of the attack sending her crashing to the ground. As she lay there, defeated, and exhausted, Noel and her allies closed in.
"You put up a good fight," Noel admitted, "but your time is over." With that, she cast a binding spell, immobilizing Angel’sDaughter and sealing her fate. The battle was over, and Angel’sDaughter had lost. The realization of her defeat weighed heavily on her as she was taken captive, her journey now uncertain and filled with peril.
