Chapter 24: Instinct

  Chapter 24: Instinct

The future of yourself will be sent into this realm as long as you slumber. A person in any shape or to be more precise, a shapeshifter will appear and offer the near-to-death person into this realm. Of course, there are some qualifications and considerations to be able to get into the domain. The domain is the master and the founder itself, it’ll appear in any form as said above to bring the future, which is the next moment of the present, of the person into the realm to get freezed in there.

  “It’s strange”

Ganz murmured that to himself whilst his fingers were at his chin. The girl clearly explained the mechanics of this place, the founder of this place and the originality of who she is.

“It’s a near death experience, it reminded me of something like terminal lucidity.”

The reference to this type of thing the closest would be terminal lucidity as if getting a win or lose, it'll be one of the discretions, live or die. It’s vivid to think about that but since the phenomenon is true. Therefore, the reference made to that was kind of random but somehow contributing if being in the right perspective. If it was a fantasy-like in between, it would be reasonable to consider.

Science and fantasy-like are made up things to explain everything. Both fields have their own perspective on things in order to have a clear explanation toward mysteries that are left out of curiosity. In this case, fantasy-like was taking part in more than scientific contributions.

“If it was in the logical way in Kinter’s world, it would be explainable by some scientists. Hell is a vague place, they’re made up of human imagination. There are some links that I suddenly made up myself.”

Leaving aside those contemplates, he began to look at Kinter’s on-going battle with the full armor knight. The girl laying on the guy’s torso as well put her gaze upon those two fighting each other. She thought that there was no need to hide far away as Ganz’s authority would protect her from trajectories.

  ***

  Ching!

Hitting, hitting, hitting and hitting. Again, again and again.

There’s nothing that could budge that armor. Even with all of my strength into each attacks, they would get deflected again and again. My strength…obviously there cannot pierce through his iron armor.

“If I have my atomic manipulation ability right there…”

I was wishing for the ability, atomic manipulation. If it was still there, I could enhance myself and each of my attacks of course would get stronger to the threshold that’s enough to pulverize his armor.

“This place knows how to put people into despair.”

I rushed to his back again, it was the hundredth time. That time was different, instead of going for the full motion, I stopped midair. The swing of the non-human, medieval knight still kept on, he knew that I couldn't do anything to his armor.

“Hesitation is defeat, huh? What if I know how to turn it around.”

I remembered the statement from the [__] I played from the reminiscence of the old world. I couldn’t remember the title of the game, it was the statement from the final boss of the game. Usually, final bosses are the strongest enemies in the game, and mostly look wiser than any other bosses and characters in my opinion.

I paused in the middle, the medieval knight waved all the way down the greatsword held in his right hand. I dodged to the side.

  Tum!

The sound of water splashing was tumultuous, drops of water fluttered in the air. Taking in account of his sonic reaction, I would take breaths in to evade those unwanted death blows.

The medieval knight immediately waved the greatsword horizontally, instead of bending my knees like earlier, I crouched down. This way, it gave me more speed to do the next thing.

  “!.”

I stood near to his slim existence, the knight tried to punch me with his left. But yeah, I got his weakness. I easily tilted my head to the left side, and…with the katana in my right hand, the katana in my right hand wriggled through his stretching left arm and was in the motion of a punch.

  !

Sound of blood dripping out inside the iron helmet, the medieval knight knelt one leg down. The greatsword loosened, his left hand was holding the injured eye, it was his right eye.

  “Guhh.”

The medieval knight groaned about his injuries, I assumed he was enduring such pain but due to his disabled cognitive speech, I could only hear utterances from him. What was next was obvious to me. I raised the katana in my right hand and with no mercy, thrust at the one of his unconcealing passages of his helmet.

However, the knight with sonic speed didn’t let that happen as his reaction with determination was shown by the greatsword in his right hand swung at an incredible speed, to be more accurate, it was at sonic speed. And I dodged in revelation.

Sonic speed or sonic reaction, which one will conquer the other?

At that time, the score was equivalent. The next score would determine the outcome of the battle.

“You’re a cunning guy. You could have gotten me earlier hah, what were you trying to do?”

  Um…

“No, I have just come up with that. Didn’t expect to get it this time.”

  “You’re such a deceiving guy.”

  “...”

The knight was stating that I pretended to be like this, let’s see what he wanted to say next.

“You want to fight a little longer, aren’t you? If it was for that purpose, I would shamelessly say your instinct is truly filthy, all about you is just fighting and killing. Actually, you haven’t realized it yet but you slowly recognize it right?”

  “Recognize what?”

“You don’t think, your whole personality doesn’t have that. You’re just a simple-minded guy.”

Was I the person who he was referring to?

“Your simple mind and your simple goal and your constant thoughts about the surroundings wouldn’t bring anything but benefitting others.”

Huh? He was saying exactly out who I was. I was frightened of his observation though, but that didn’t bother me much because this ordinary dialogue was something I thought very normal to occur frequently.

“So? What matters is the presence. If you try to ragebait me, then do it better next time.”

Rushing toward him, I constantly stopped and moved, stopped and moved. He was swinging as I was dodging every of his attacks. Obviously, I’ve adapted to his sonic reaction. Suddenly, I felt good about my throwing accuracy. But wait, if this occurs, would it be considered I was in flow or this would put me to the brink of demise?

  “Foolish of myself.”

Taking notice of usual thoughts, I risked it by throwing with all might the sword in my left hand. I grinned and went in accordance with the katana I threw at him. Surely, it was aiming at one of his open passages.

  “What are you trying?”

The medieval knight deflected the katana away. From my perspective, it left out with many openings but because of his fast reaction. Why did he suddenly speak so fluently? Nevermind.

  “No use whatsoever, come here!”

  I rushed to him but…

  “!?”

I once again paused mid way and rushed to the sword he deflected earlier. I jumped and performed a bicycle kick in the air. The katana flew at a devious speed toward him, aiming at his opening passage from the helmet

  Ching!

“I wonder what you are trying to do?”

  “None of your business.”

  “...”

The sword got deflected and was flying the other way. I once again rushed to where the sword flew. I got the katana back, and again, I threw the katana to the open passages. He deflected, it got branched to the ground, I picked it up and threw it to the spot like previous shots. He deflected it in the air, I got the katana mid air and threw it at him. Again. Again and again.

“Just what are you trying to do? Don’t underestimate me, you cunning bastard!”

Finally, I set into another motion. I picked up the sword and threw it at him. And, he yet again deflected it. However, when I nearly approached him, I threw the other katana.

  “New movement, huh?”

  “Yeah.”

  “...?!”

While that katana got his attention span for a brief second. I used that trick to reach him closer and closer. Finally, I was able to hug him.

  “You clingy…bastard!”

This moment. Yeah, I was waiting for this moment!

  “I’ll kill you.”

  “!?”

The medieval knight noticed of my hostility.

  Ching!

He deflected the katana away. However, that one second was enough for me, suitable for my speciality —speed.

I got around his back with sonic speed. I snatched the katana he deflected and got up to his neck. I performed the act of strangling, and ultimately…wriggle the katana through his shoulder and thrust one of his open passages from the helmet.

  “GAHHHHHH!”

Finally, he let out a corrupting scream. Blood dripped out of his helmet, crimson and an iron aroma got into my nostrils. The smell of blood, yeah, once again was getting into my nostrils.

He was wiggling in agony. His hands covered the frontal of his helmet, his legs went round and round in a bewildered way. Ripples were created constantly due to his continuous footsteps. The surface of water splashed drops of water in the air, then, the surface created a large ripple because the medieval knight had fallen down.

I let out an ironic smile, then it turned into a grin.

Finally, I had finally beaten him. But why was I so excited?

“Now I see. You’re the type of guy who fumbles at first but then achieve something greater as you gradually get into it.”

  Isn’t everyone like that?

Actually, I’m the type of guy who would suffer at first then gradually get into it as I immerse and devote more and more into it. In general, I think it’s called adaptation.

“Blinded by sloth huh. That’s suitable for you I think. At first, you don’t feel like doing this but then you get more and more into it.”

That was right, I didn’t really concentrate initially but then I started to devote myself to it gradually. The burning passion of fighting suddenly lightened with my mind only focused on how to beat the medieval knight.

“Your instinct is like that. To be in this state would need more than practice, that’s called instinct and nature.”

  He let out a sigh

“Now, let me rest from those thoughts.”

I took notes of what he said, it was just I needed to move on.

“Rest assured, you and I had a good battle.”

Whether he was listening or not. After I said that, he already left no signs of living. The corpse suddenly submerged into water, a flattened stone rose up.

  -The winner had been decided

The tremendous strength engulfed inside my body, the flow of strength of the medieval knight was flowing inside my body. I could feel the soul, the devotion and the pure strength of the knight inside me. His strength wasn’t talent, it was his potential that he forged to get there.

Then, my abilities were coming back to me: atomic manipulation, time reversal and particle magic energy. All of them were in my arsenal at that point. I got everything back and gained more, which was the knight’s strength.

The environment was shaking due to particles flowing into a creation, I was creating a pedestal with a rectangular board placed upon. I carved praising words on the board and set the tomb where he lay down. The resting place of the medieval knight had been settled.
