010 MAYBE I DO IT BECAUSE I LIKE YOU

Moments later we reached his dorm room. The style of it is very similar to mine. A corridor followed with small kitchen space. Moving further into the room was a wall, behind it a closet, a table and sofa, and a bed at the opposite side of the room. Then doors that lead to a personal bathroom. Very standard common studio mini apartment type of space. The only thing that was different was those three big boards placed behind the bed, next to the other wall.

I faced three whiteboards. They looked so out of place for this small space.

  I glanced at the guy.

“What insanity are you cooking here?” I hung my head whilst still standing in the doorway. What bothered me was what he wrote on them. Scribbled numbers of a math equation. A very complex one.

I glanced between Yuji and those equations. My brain screamed from inside. Irritated with what he had done.

Yuji ignored my painful expression. Instead he gently pushed me to walk inside and closed the doors behind himself, holding his hand out.

“Do your thing!” Motioning for me to use them freely. He wanted me to fix the math scribbled on the whiteboards.

I hesitated for a moment but couldn’t bear a second moving towards the whiteboards. I dropped my bag close to my legs. My hand reached out the marker and looked up. Scanning through each of the whiteboards. There was a single math issue that he seemed to be working on. I started to read what he had done and my hand rigidly tensed. Shock and bewilderment of each mistake he had made there.

Math to me was something sacred and Yuji disgraced it. Each number he wrote on those boards mocking its existence. Like he was testing my patience with this. I guess he picked up on how upset I was for that project from development class. I even ended up destroying the whole thing.

He was clearly picking this emotion out of me.

  That annoying persistent creature!

“You!” I turned my eyes back to Yuji.

He didn’t bother to even look at me. Had dropped his bag on the ground and sat on the edge of his bed. Yuji’s head was downcast, eyes on his phone, fingers typing rigorously.

I couldn’t stand it and erratically erased his mistakes. With a marker then I worked to fix them. My forehead wrinkled as I did this. The black marker in my palm is working to make these numbers perfect. There were so many wrong equations. I honestly couldn't believe it.

Has his brain degraded that much?

“Do you perhaps need a doctor?” I couldn’t help but ask out loud as I moved. My fingers wrote on the boards the right equations and after a while I finished.

  Yuji watched me in silence.

When I was finished he finally reacted. Got up from his seat and came up to stand next to me. He stood there for a minute. Slowly observing what I had done. Then his smug grin appeared on his face again.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

“What is this emotion?” He smiled widely. His eyes never left the whiteboards. His voice was full of surprise as if I’d amazed him.

  “So creepy!” He said.

“One thing I can agree about you!” I replied.

He shifted his gaze at me. “No, I meant this. It's just the same I came up with and you’re done with the same methods.” He answered me slowly with this wild smile on his face.

I glanced back at the whiteboards.

“There are at least seven different methods of how one could go about this problem. What are the odds of us two picking the same and on all turns!” He seemed mesmerized by this.

Unconsciously, I took a step back.

“Honestly, chills!” He said. Showing his arms like he just had goosebumps.

“It’s just an unlucky coincidence. Calm down!” I slowly opened my mouth.

Did he manage to trick me just now? Leaving the wrong equations on there on purpose for me to fix it?

Yuji stepped closer to me. Having this odd glance in his eyes. He took the eraser from my hand. Our hands slightly brushed against each other for a whole second. His motion seemed to be deliberate and slow. Yuji then turned and erased the work. Cleaning all three of the whiteboards blank. Erasing everything as if it did not matter at all.

“Enlighten me Rory Aisaka! What is your deal with Shinichi Lawyet?” Yuji asked me out of the blue.

I stared at him for a moment. Then let out a long breath.

“You’re kidding?” I was not happy. “Is this the reason for you to drag me to your room? You could have asked me that question everywhere else!” I was perplexed by his behaviour.

“I wanted to see how you solved the math.” Yuji gave me an innocent expression. Though his eyes changed more seriously. “So, what's the deal with him?” He asked me again.

“It’s none of your concern.” I gave him my answer.

“What was your attitude before? Why did you send me that article?” I asked a question that was bugging me.

“I felt sorry that your boyfriend ignored your questions.” Yuji shrugged then continued. “Why is it not my concern? I feel very concerned!” He continued to press me.

“You know that you’re being creepy right now.” I eyed him.

“Am I?” Yuji asked. Flashing a bright smile.

“Why do you keep stalking me?” I asked him. Narrowing my eyes.

He flashed his bright teeth at me.

“Maybe I do it because I like you.”

  “You like me?” I snorted.

“Rory!! Dear! You are very special!” Yuji told me again.

I wanted to shiver in disgust but instead put a matching smile on my face.

“More special than you!” I said very ironically and theatrically.

Yuji giggled at my changing attitude.

“Of course. I mean, I would be bored to death already if you weren’t in my class to challenge me in every subject! How rare is finding someone so stimulating!” His eyes locked with mine. Staring at me intently.

  I found this repulsive.

“You’re gross!” I couldn’t keep the posture anymore. I took a step away. Then I was forced to stop.

Yuji grabbed my hand again. Rendering me unable to move further.

“Nobu Ichigo has ascended to be the head of this town. Which is why the changes are happening and more is coming!” He spoke to me again. Giving me random pieces of puzzles.

I yanked my hand away from him.

“What is your aim here? Why would I care about something that doesn’t concern me?” Turning my head. I asked. I wasn’t interested in this place's number one in the slightest. Yuji trying to tempt me is becoming a bit off.
