Conquest 49 – Invasion of the Mivtic Kingdom (2)

  At my signal, everyone began to move out. Mordred yelled to the top of his lungs, loud enough for not only me but everyone in the kingdom to hear.

  “FOR BOSS VLADIMIR!!!”

  His declaration managed to inspire everyone, who all yelled at him as they began to charge. Meanwhile I activated [Material Forge] as the ground beneath us began to move lifting us up like an elevator through the wall.

  Everyone started to freak out, the sudden movement was a lot for them to take as their bodies struggled to keep up with the fast movement. For me though, it was par for the course. I had already used [Material Forge] for this type of movement more than once before, so I was quite used to it.

  They were all starting to scream. The smaller minions clinging even tighter to the orc, who in turn was panicking, frantically shaking his head wondering what he should do.

  “A-ahhhh boss?! is this what you deal with every time you launch yourself?!”

  I gave a single nod to his question. I slowed our ascension as we neared the top of the wall. By the time we reached our destination, we made a hard stop. I took a look at my minions to make sure they were alright.

  The sight before me gave me a bit of a chuckle. They were all on their knees, shaking and gasping for air. My wolves where whimpering while covering their faces with their front paws. I decided to give them a minute to calm their nerves, I could give them that at least.

  Once they relaxed one of my kobolds started to freak out towards me. “How do you handle that all the time chief?! That was crazy!”

  “Veehahahahaha, it’s not easy I admit. But I find it very useful for mobility, so I endure it. Now if you all are ready, let’s go. ~”

  They nodded as we all got off our platform, lucky for us there didn’t seem to be any soldiers stationed nearby. Wanting to take advantage of the situation I took survey of the kingdom below us, watching the soldiers panic as they mobilize to handle the situation with Mordred and his group.

  From a distance I could see Damian and his group on standby, waiting for their chance to attack as instructed. It was then I gotten a message from Zeph.

  {We all are ready on standby on our end bossman. I can see you from down here. ~}

  Indeed, I could see the slums and could barely make out the vulture Beastman waving at us with a group of the slum citizens and even some regular as well. Good, with most of the soldiers dealing with Mordred’s forces it was time to thin them out further.

  I sent Zeph and Damian each a separate message.

  {Understood Zeph, I need you to go get everyone away from the hidden exit. Damian’s group is going to break through it now.}

  {Alright Damian, go ahead and prepare to break through the crack on the wall.}

  Upon getting their messages, Zeph began motioning everyone to move. Meanwhile, Damian sent a reply back before beginning to build up energy to power up his [Pulse].

  {You got it Vladdy! ~}

  I could see his group backing up a bit from him, knowing the impact it was going to have had nearby him. Not long after the ground around began to shake, the force of it enough to get even the soldiers fighting Mordred’s group to notice. With a single thrust of his fist, he sent a force of power right towards the wall, crashing and breaking apart the hole there. It falls apart as the stone breaks apart leaving a wide enough space for his group to rush in.

  “W-what is going on?!” One of them responded, freaking out before he even reached the main entrance.

  Mordred meanwhile had already taken down a few of the soldiers, from what I can see I could have sworn he was clicking his tongue before beginning to get more aggressive, as if he was motivated from Damian’s display of strength.

  With our initial attack in action, I started up my call with all of my henchmen. “From this point onward, I’m keeping the call open for all of us, inform us of anything of interest as soon as you can and use it to the best of your ability. Zeph, I need to have your group to mobilize and gather every citizen you can to the far end of the castle, we’ll keep our fight to the front.”

  “You got it bossman~”

  It was then I heard the sound of several soldiers yelling, it seemed we were finally spotted. “H-hey, what are monster’s doing up here?!”

  I simply responded by motioning my head towards my group towards the soldiers. “Take care of them as well as every other solider up here. Once you all are done, join us down below and make sure not to attack anyone who doesn’t fight back, especially the citizens.”

  They all nodded with my orc pounding his chest with a grin in his face. “You got it boss! ~”

  My orc made the first move and rushed towards the panicked soldiers, who were immediately trying to grab their weapons. Though they were too slow, my orc already slamming against one of them, knocking him out.

  “Don’t kill them!” I reminded them which my orc responded with a thumbs up. I looked at the rest of my group, with the few wolves already joining my orc in the fight biting at their legs. That left the weaker members, who were all shaking off their natural fears before taking out their weapons to back them up.

  Most of them going for some cheap shots after the stronger members of the group did their initial attack, taking advantage of their push back to get in a few cuts and thrusts in. Meanwhile, the ones with bows provided support firing a few arrows narrowing their movements all the while trying their best not to hit their own allies.

  Overall, they seemed to be handling things well enough. The soldiers’ panicked reactions made me think that they probably have little experience in actual combat. Probably because of their relatively safe positions on top of the walls. This was something my minions of course were planning to take advantage of.

  Seeing how they have things all under control, I decided to leave them to it while I prepared for my own work. That and there’s a strong chance that if they were to use something to locate anything it would be me. So, it’s best to separate from them for now.

  “Alright you guys, I’m off.” I informed them as they continued their own fight.

  I jumped off of the top of the walls towards the city beyond me and before gravity could start to drag me down, I utilized the newest upgrade to [Material Forge]. Pointing my claw to the air below me it started to change, the property of it condensing and transforming into a solid surface as I landed on it. I was now standing in the middle of the air as if I was stepping on solid ground.

  That’s right, the newest feature I added to [Material Forge] back in the cells was the ability to alter the properties of the materials as well compared to just simply reshaping or changing the state of the materials, giving me more freedom to manipulate them. Luckily my guess in the air itself counting as nonliving material proved to be correct. I had assumed as such considering I was able to manipulate the wind of my [Basic Elemental Magic].

  Unfortunately, I can feel it drain a bit more mana out of me than normal. But it’ll be fine so long as I keep the property changes small and simple, for example. I jumped as I began to change the air’s property around me to become more elastic like rubber, causing me to bounce off of the changed air.

  I found myself with the familiar launch through the sky as I maneuvered around the kingdom and surveyed events up high. At the same time, I hope that my erratic movements will prove to be enough to confuse my possible trackers.

  I could see that the battles unfolding where going to my favor. With the enemy soldiers forced to spread out to handle Mordred’s assault and Damian’s surprise attack.

  “With my henchmen working so hard I better step up as their leader and do my part. Veehahahahaha~” I laughed over the development below me. For a moment I felt like the king of the world. Soon enough soon enough. ~

  I continued to look around the kingdom while I was high in the sky. There was a particular target I was after. And with all this commotion going on, everyone was in a panic. I could at least see Zeph hard at work with the slum denizens leading the rest of citizens to the designated side of the city. Though… it seems they’re doing so by scaring them off with the three stooges on front, I couldn’t help but chuckle a little from seeing the humans intimidated by a bunch of ‘weak’ kobolds. ~

  Now then, where are you…. Ah there you are. With my target in sight, I began to bounce down from the air and let the force of gravity pull me down to the ground like a small comet. Faster and faster I went until I was just in reach as I unsheathed my Falchion Sword and pointed at it in front of me as forged the blade extended at rapid speed.

  And now my target came into view, the Knight Commander Tobias. His focus was on trying to deal with the invasion. Enough so that he never saw the attack coming, the blade clashing with his armor. As I thought, even with the extra speed and strength from the gravity pull. It wasn’t enough to pierce through his [Mithril Heavy Armor]. Only enough to leave a dent at most as my blade bounced back.

  “What th-” Tobias yelled in surprise. His own instincts reaching for his sword.

  But I wasn’t done with him yet. With my upgraded [Material Forge] I changed the property of the base of my sword to become more elastic, allowing me to move it like a metallic whip and ensnaring his arm.

  I finally landed on the ground. The impact lessened through my quick act of softening the ground at my landing. I held my makeshift whip tightly in my claw as I stared the Knight Commander straight in the eye.

  “You!” He yelled as he realized who had pinned him.

  I responded with a confident smug tone. I was ready for my revenge. “Now, shall we begin with round two, Knight Commander Tobias? ~ Veehahahahaha!!~”
