46. Assault on the Stars

With a determined glance at my fallen comrades, I leapt aboard Misty, her powerful muscles tensing beneath me as she prepared for action. "Let's show them what we're made of!" I shouted, urging her forward.

Misty reared up on her hind legs and then charged with Steadfast Charge, her hooves kicking up dirt and debris as we burst forth like a rocket, straight towards the heart of Dr. Genius' spaceship. The world around us blurred as we ascended, the wind whipping through my hair and Misty's mane flowing behind us like a banner.

As we entered the realm of the stars, the true might of Dr. Genius' fleet became apparent. Fighter jets swarmed around us, their engines roaring as they opened fire with a barrage of missiles and laser blasts. I could feel the heat of their attacks, but Misty's speed and agility were unmatched. We weaving through the onslaught, dodging and diving with precision.

I unleashed Radiant Burst after Radiant Burst, each blast of idiocy tearing through the enemy formations, disabling fighter jets and creating chaos in their ranks. The space laser loomed before us, its massive barrel glowing with destructive energy. With a final surge of power, I directed Misty straight at it, my arms raised as I channeled every ounce of dumb energy into one mighty blast.

The Radiant Burst struck the space laser's barrel, causing an explosion that sent shockwaves rippling through space. The laser was destroyed, its remnants spiraling away into the void. Cheers erupted from my team below, their voices carried to me by the wind of our ascent.

But our battle was far from over. More fighter jets emerged from the shadows of the spaceship, their weapons locking onto us as they prepared to fire. I knew we had to act fast if we wanted to save Mizuno and turn the tide of battle.

Acting on instinct, I activated Dumb Magnetism, feeling the pull of the anti-friendliness net around Sassy. With a jerk, the net ripped free, sailing through the air and disappearing into the depths of space. Sassy's joyful barks reached my ears, filled with relief and renewed vigor as she rejoined the fight below.

Misty and I turned back towards Earth, our descent every bit as swift and breathtaking as our ascent. Fighter jets fired missiles at us from every side, their explosions lighting up the sky like a fiery display. I could feel the heat of their attacks, but Misty's speed and my Idiot's Luck kept us one step ahead, dodging and weaving through the deadly barrage.

As we plummeted towards the battlefield, I could see the chaos unfolding below. My team was holding their own, the Army of the Dumb causing distraction and mayhem among the enemy ranks. But Mizuno still lay motionless on the ground, her condition critical.

With a final burst of speed, Misty and I crashed back into the heart of the battle, our arrival sending shockwaves through the ground. I slid off Misty's back, my feet hitting the dirt as I rushed to Mizuno's side. Her breath was shallow, her eyes fluttering but not fully open.

"Mizuno," I whispered, cradling her head in my lap and channelling my Dumb Heal. "Stay with me. We're not done yet."

John Smart watched our dramatic return, his expression a mix of amazement and concern. "Impressive," he said, his voice tight with grudging respect. "But it's going to take more than that to beat me."

He raised his weapon, but before he could fire, Sassy launched herself at him, her Playful Pounce taking them both to the ground in a tangle of limbs and fur. John Smart struggled to free himself, but Sassy's friendly aura was too much for him, her happiness and excitement overwhelming his attempts at resistance.

With Mizuno stable for the moment, I turned my attention back to the battlefield. The fight was far from over, but we had bought ourselves some time. And as long as we stood together, there was nothing we couldn't overcome.
