Counsel and Revelations

Episode 29 — Counsel and Revelations

The council chamber was illuminated by a pale, cold light.

A circular holographic table projected shifting maps of star systems across the air, their glow reflecting on the faces gathered around it. The Xprian Council sat in silence, tension pressing down on the room.

At the center stood Lord Vharon.

His posture was perfectly straight, his expression unreadable.

Councilor Kael was the first to speak.

“Lord Vharon, we need to understand your decision. Lee is impulsive. He has already killed three council members in direct confrontation. He cannot become Director General. A Krizardian should not hold access to all of the organization’s information.”

  Councilor Myra nodded.

“His youth alone is a risk to the stability of our empire. His temperament even more so.”

Vharon’s lips curved into a faint, cold smile.

“When Lee becomes the next Krizardian King,” he said calmly, “he will have access to the entire universe. Far more than any of you possess now. This appointment is simply a step toward that future.”

  Kael frowned.

“Then why trust him so early?”

  Vharon’s eyes sharpened.

“Because first, he must trust me.”

  The room fell silent.

“Everything is part of a plan,” Vharon continued. “I will give him confidence. I will make him believe he holds power… and when the moment arrives, he will deliver the kingdoms of the universe to me himself.”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

  The councilors exchanged uneasy looks.

  Myra spoke quietly.

“So we are all playing a rigged game?”

“Exactly,” Vharon replied. “Lee is a piece… but one I am carefully shaping. He is being prepared to face áris.”

The chamber grew darker as the holograms dimmed. For a moment, Vharon’s eyes gleamed in the fading light.

Later that night, the corridors of the organization were quiet.

Soft blue lights lined the walls as Lara walked beside Leon. Neither spoke at first.

Then a voice came from behind them.

  “Be honest with me.”

They turned. Darian stood there, his expression tight.

“Are you and that boy together? Why have you been avoiding me?”

  Lara shook her head.

  “No. We’re just friends.”

  Darian studied her.

“Even so… you feel something for him.”

Lara stopped walking and faced him directly.

“I do feel something. Just not the way you think.”

Darian’s jaw tightened. For a moment anger flashed across his face, but he lowered his head instead.

“I knew it. Your mother never truly prepared you for me… but that’s fine.”

He turned away and began to walk.

His voice lingered quietly behind him.

  “This won’t end like this…”

Near midnight, Laura sat inside Doria’s office.

She looked exhausted, hands clasped tightly together. Doria remained calm beside her.

“I’m sorry,” she said softly. “Everything changed so suddenly.”

  Doria shook his head.

“It’s alright. Lord Vharon assigned me another role. I will still remain here.”

  He gave a reassuring smile.

  “We’ll continue seeing each other.”

Laura nodded, though worry still filled her eyes.

In another room, Lee sat alone.

He was seated on the floor in meditation, legs crossed, the faint light of the early dawn entering through the window. His breathing was slow and controlled.

  A memory echoed within him.

“If you serve me, I will give you more than you can imagine.”

Lee opened his eyes slightly, thoughtful but determined.

At sunrise, the exterior balcony overlooked the endless stars beyond the station.

Lara leaned against the railing beside Leon. The warm glow of the rising sun illuminated their faces.

“I told your Jesus… he’s mine now too,” she said quietly. “I told Him I would serve Him if He freed me from that marriage.”

  Leon smiled gently.

“Tell me everything about Him. Don’t leave out a single detail.”

  Lara’s eyes softened.

“He’s different… He showed me there’s something beyond strength and battles. That serving isn’t obedience… it’s giving your heart.”

  Leon listened to every word.

Neither of them confessed anything aloud, yet something deep and unspoken grew between them in the quiet light of morning.
