Chapter 67
Repairs were actively underway on the Biliskinir, its silhouette imposing against the backdrop of the Protected Planet Adara II as the Commonwealth Fleet watched over.
“I’ve integrated much of our technology into the Biliskinir. Once the repairs are complete, she will be the mightiest vessel in the Asgard fleet,” Reva declared, her tone filled with pride as she updated Thor on the ship’s progress.
As their conversation flowed, a signal broke through the static of subspace, summoning their attention. It was Penegal, his visage appearing on the viewscreen, framed by the soft glow of his command post.
“Ah, Commander Thor! It brings me joy to see you safe,” Penegal greeted, a warm sincerity etched across his features.
“Bok, High Chancellor. I owe my life to our new allies in the Lantean Commonwealth,” Thor replied, gratitude and determination resonating in his voice.
The tension in the air shifted as Amos and others gathered around the screen, their expressions shifting from relief to concern as Penegal prepared to share more grave intelligence.
“In light of the events surrounding Hala and the troubling circumstances here on Adara II,” Penegal began, his visage turning solemn, “the Asgard High Council has begun to heed the warnings of Amos Fyree regarding our uncertain future.”
“That news is promising,” Amos responded, hope flickering in his eyes.
“I’m not finished,” Penegal interjected, his tone deepening.
“What weighs on you, High Chancellor?” Amos asked, anxiety creeping into his voice.
Penegal took a breath, steadying himself. “We’ve received confirmation from the Tollan: Chancellor Omak is dead.”
A flicker of horror crossed Amos’s face, his heart sinking at the gravity of his words. “Oh no…” he whispered, dread enveloping him as the reality of their fragile situation settled in.
Amos paced back and forth, rubbing his head saying, "No, No, No," all while pondering the full implications of Penegal's revelation.

"Wait,"said Karlan. "I remember on Alfheim Amos and Freyr mentioning the world of Tollana. They were afraid of recruiting it into the Commonwealth because they thought it was compromised by the Goa'uld. Are you implying that the Goa'uld killed their High Chancellor?
"Yeah, I remember that,"added Egeria. "That's why we went to Hebridan and Euronda first."
Freyr nodded thoughtfully. “You are both right. Any premature contact with Tollana could inadvertently expose the emerging Commonwealth to the Goa’uld. They would either obliterate us or exploit the Tollan alliance to pilfer our technological advancements.”
Warrick's brow knitted in confusion. “But why is Tollana so crucial, anyway?”
“Tollana,” Reva explained, her voice steady and filled with awe, “is the most technologically sophisticated human world in the galaxy. Their phase-shifting technology is utterly unique, setting them apart from all other races. They even possess the capability to construct their own Stargates.”
“Wait,” Warrick exclaimed, his eyes widening with disbelief. “They can build their own Stargate? My people have only just stumbled upon the technology, and we’re still grappling with how it works. Are you saying that this same Tollana has already been overtaken by the Goa’uld?”
“Indeed, we are,” Freyr replied somberly, the weight of their situation settling heavily in the air.
"I still can’t wrap my head around it," Sha're said, furrowing her brow. "If the Goa'uld have shields and weaponry capable of bypassing Tollana’s defenses, why go to such extremes to infiltrate their government?"
Michael scanned the room, gauging the bewildered expressions on everyone's faces before responding. "Isn’t it obvious? They want their technology."
Sarah, who had remained silent throughout the tumult, finally spoke up. "That is correct."
All eyes on the bridge turned toward Sarah, including Chancellor Penegal, who seemed equally captivated.
"I have faint memories from my time as Osiris," she continued, her voice steady despite the weight of her recollections. "I remember our Master, Lord Anu—"
"Anubis," Egeria interjected, helping her along.
"Yes, Anubis. He was compelling the Tollan Curia to construct weapons for him using their phase-shifting technology," Sarah explained, even as the effort tugged at her mind.
"What makes these weapons so formidable?" Warrick inquired.
Amos, who had finally regained his composure after the shocking revelation, spoke up, "With those weapons, Anubis would have the means to breach nearly any barrier and shield, giving him the power to assault my homeworld, Earth."
"Wait just one second here Ampu, why doesn't Anubis just attack Earth already, they don't even have a fleet,"said Egeria.
Thor, sensing Egeria's confusion steps in, "Although Earth is primitive by most standards, they have proven themselves formidable. Over the past several years they have defeated more System Lords than the Tokra and Asgard combined.
"Ra, Apophis, Chronus, Setesh, Heru'ur, even your sister Hathor all were defeated by the Planet Earth's Stargate Command and more specifically by SG-1,"added Freyr.
Freyr interjected with a grave tone, "Those weapons, coupled with their formidable ships, pose a threat to the Asgard as well."
"I am fully aware of that, Commander Freyr," Penegal replied, his voice steady. "This is precisely why we require your assistance; we need all of your might."
With determination, Amos stepped forward, approaching the viewing screen. He directed his gaze at Penegal. "High Chancellor, when is the funeral for Chancellor Omak scheduled?"
"In three days," Penegal replied solemnly.
Amos locked eyes with the Asgard High Chancellor, a fierce resolve burning within him as he vowed,
"We'll be ready in two."
