Chapter 34
“Say Ah….”
“Ahhh.”
Sha’re was sick and Freyr was running tests on her to see what was wrong.
“Your immune system is having a hard time adjusting to your second life,” said Freyr, analytically.
“I feel cold,” said Sha’re as she coughed into her hand.
Freyr gently turned around to the counter behind him and grabbed the large blanket hanging on its surface. “Here you go Sha’re. I’ll inform Amos and Reva so we can discuss what to do.”
As Amos and Reva made their way into the bridge, they were met by a concerned Freyr standing fraught against the bridge door.
“Amos Reva, come quick! Sha’re is feeling dangerously ill,” Freyr warned.
The two looked at each other and rushed over to Sha’re, who was wrapped snug inside of her blanket.
“Sha’re are you alright?” asked Amos as he gazed at Sha’re’s weak form.
“I am not fine, Amos Fyree. I am sick,” she responded as she sneezed.
Freyr, walking closer to Amos explained, “Her immune system isn’t functioning. If her condition continues to decline she will once again die.”
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Reva moved directly in front of Sha’re and printed her scanner. “He’s right. I’m seeing the advent of an infectious disease. If we don’t do something quick, she will die within a few days.
“A few days?” said Amos. “How could Sha’re be dead in a few days?”. He had saved Dr. Jackson’s long lost wife and now she was doomed to die again. There had to be some way for him to keep Sha’re alive.
“We need more time!” he exclaimed. Amos touched Reva on her shoulder, “baby, go get the stasis chamber ready.” Reva prepared the stasis chamber and placed Sha’re inside. There the chamber preserved her body and kept her from death while the rest of the crew pondered what to do next.
“We have to help Sha’re,” stated Reva.
“You’re right, beautiful. I’ve been thinking about that and I think I may have a solution,” said Amos.
“What do we need to do,” Freyr inquired.
“We give her medical nanites,” said Amos.
“Aren't there still nanites still in her system? Freyr raised.
“No, those nanites were only designed to create her body not to sustain it. As soon as she came back to life and left the resurrection chamber those nanites left her body and were made inert,” Reva explained.
“How about we give her my medical nanites,” said Amos.
“But those nanites are tied to your genetic code, we would require a completely new set of nanites tied to Sha’re’s DNA,” Freyr responded.
“What about my nanites?” offered Reva. “My nanites are more powerful and aren't tied to Amos’s DNA.”
“No,” said Amos as the others looked at him with confusion.
“No?” replied Freyr.
“No,” reaffirmed Amos. “If this resurrection technology is to be viable enough to help resurrect the Ancients, we are going to need nanites – manufactured nanites, that heal, store data, and extend the reach of the human consciousness. My nanites are just a prototype and Reva’s nanites are made specifically for the replicators. If we go forward we are going to need this to be a working technology, not just a one off.”
“Baby, we don’t have the tools to manufacture new nanite technology on this ship. And we took out all the replicator technology out of our city ship schematics.”
Amos paced the bridge of the Skidbladnir, rubbing his beard as he thought about what to do. Suddenly, a spark of genius came over him similar to the same spark that came over him on Valhalla and Taranis.
“There is a world that Stargate Command used to do dealings with in the early days of the Stargate Program. They specialized in nanite technology. Not just any nanite technology, but nanite technology that we need to store immense data.” said Amos.
Freyr walked up to Amos, his curiosity piquing. “Amos, what world do you speak of,” said the curious Asgard.
“The world is called Orban. We should head there and see if their people are willing to work with us to update our current nanite technology. Who knows, they might be the first world in this galaxy willing to join our Commonwealth.”
The three remaining crew members of the Skidbladnir agreed that Orban should be their next destination. They then walked to their posts, set a course, and headed to Orban.
