Chapter 52
"All done!"stated Reva as she finished the repairs on the Sebrus.
For the past three days, Amos and the crew of the Samantha, had been busy helping the crew of the Sebrus.
"This ion drive is a sophisticated design, I'm surprised the rest of the galaxy hasn't heard about the Hebridean and Serrakin people,"said Reva, handing the controls of the Sebrus back to its Captain.
"Outside of our colonies, we keep to ourselves, the Stargate that you told us about doesn't exist on Hebridan so we have virtually no alien enemies and the Goa'uld know better than to mess with the power of Serrakin technology" said Warrick, making his last minute inspections of his ship.
Reva took the kino and crystal disk she was using and disintegrated it, then looked at Warrick directly in the face.. " Warrick, there's something that's been bothering me. I don't think it was the asteroid storm that brought down your ship,"said Reva in a concerning voice.
"What? But I remember the storm perfectly,"said Warrick "There was damage and debris everywhere."
"There might have been; but it wasn't the asteroids that downed your ship,"said Reva, her voice steady and brimming with her usual scientific confidence. "Look at this, it's your ship's log. At 21:00 hours there was a mysterious loss in shields."
Warrick looked at the ship's logs looking for what Reva's had stated. "What is this! You're right!" "I'm showing an unusual drop in shield strength right at 21:00 hours. Why, that's when –"he paused briefly cross checking his work, "That's when we entered the asteroid field.
"Precisely!"Reva exclaimed. "It seems highly unlikely that the asteroids themselves damaged your ship. Instead, it seems highly likely that someone on the inside did.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Warrick shook his head in dismay, clearly moved by the data. "Who could… who could do such a thing?"
Reva looked up at the ceiling, crossed her arms, then looked Warrick right in the eye, "When I was on Alfheim I was able to beam some human movies from Earth's satellites. In one of the movies there was a prison break. One of the prisoners got help from the outside in the form of a cake. I believe that in your situation, that is also the case."
"You mean someone purposefully tried to free the prisoners?"wondered Warrick.
"Yes, indeed I do," said Reva.
Warrick slammed his fist on the arm of his seat. "I should have known. A few days before we left for the Prison colonies, the government put out a memo warning all civilian pilots of increased terrorist activity. Apparently, Hebridan's intelligence operatives received word that a human led terrorist organization called the Genites, were planning several attacks on the half Serrakin Half human administration. As you know, Hebridan is a mix-raced society where humans and Serrakins live in peace. Thousands of years ago the Serrakin helped free the human Hebrideans under Goa'uld rule. Afterwards, we came together to form the Hebridean and Serrakin Federation – A federation of worlds spreading throughout several star systems. Unfortunately, over the many centuries that we have been together, some humans have come to view the Serrakin as evil alien masters no better than the Gou'uld. Even though the majority of people in Hebridan are mixed and have Serrakin ancestry, the pure blooded humans are viewed as ignorant and have become increasingly hostile to our tolerant and integrated society. In fact, many of the prisoners on this vessel are pureblooded humans. One of them might have ties to the Genites. They must have been trying to recruit the prisoners! I swear, The Genites will stop at nothing to get rid of the Serrakin and keep the human bloodline genetically pure!
"That sounds terrible!"said Reva.
"Indeed, it is Ms. Fyree," said Warrick. "When we go back to Hebridan I will give this evidence you showed me to our officials. The Genites, and all who serve them must be stopped,"said the Captain of the Sebrus with vile vengeance on his lips."
"I want to thank you again for all you have done,"
Reva left the Sebrus and made her way back to the bridge of the Samantha.
"Are we all ready to go?" asked Amos as Reva came on board.
"Yes my love, we are ready to go." assured Reva as she sat down at her usual station.
"Very good. Contact the Sebrus and inform them that we will be following them to Hebridan on this bright and beautiful Monday morning," instructed Amos, his legs crossed in the Samantha's modified Lantean control chair.
The Sebrus was finally fixed, all the prisoners were alive again and back in their holding cells. Well, all except for the one Amos accidentally disintegrated. The skies were clear and both the Sebrus and the Samantha were pass due for their arrival on Hebridan.
So in one fell swoop the Sebrus and the Samantha rose up from the ground and headed into hyperspace.
