My popularity was spiraling out of control and I hated it. My haters had now accepted me as a suitable partner for Giana, which was great as the assassins would decrease. Then again they weren’t a real plague as they couldn’t catch up to me, so that would only be an issue if we stay somewhere for an extended period of time.
There were….not many missions in the AA as this city had been practically built in the middle of nowhere. Noelle and Raishin had taken one to help rebuild some buildings that had been damaged the day before but just Noelle would be enough.
Greg had disappeared into the library he wasnt pleasant to be around when he wasnt as he was ‘glaring’at Giana, according to her and ignoring Yv. I was creating skills; I had free time so it’s time to make my lazy team members stronger.
Giana was helping me make a skill that would create an illusion of whatever song she was singing, turning it into ‘reality’. It would be named [Golden Aria]. It had some difficult parts because I know nothing about singing and certainly not how her singing works.
Yv was just watching. “So this is the result of your ‘tutoring’?”
“Yes! I’m still not as good as Deca. I don’t know how he does it so well…”
Just trying my best to not be shit, work those tails harder! My part is done! You just have to incorporate your songs into it, something I can't do.
I was cooling Giana’s tails, as it was intensive and took long.
“My headache… and my tails hurt…”
Welcome to the club, work it vixen! Since my part is done, I can work on a new skill hehe.
I rubbed my hands like a super villain.
“Can…can you also make one for me?” Yv asked.
Uhhh sure.
“Ugh! Why am I so stupid…” Giana complained.
You’re not stupid, what you’re doing is extremely hard. I will finish [Foxfire: Meteor Shower] and then create a skill for you, what kind of skill do you want Yv?
“Something that makes me fast when there are no obstacles to hop off…”
Ah right… I thought about that. Can you use lightning augmentations?
“Can you teach me?” Yv made an interesting pose, but I wasn’t sure what she was trying with that.
It might work if I substitute the lightning clusters with wind ones. Most lightning skills that boost speed are compatible with wind versions.
My tails used [Foxfire: Meteor] as a basis to create [Foxfire: Meteor Shower]. It’s exactly what the name suggested, instead of 1 meteor, multiple will drop. It will save resources in case I need to cast more than 1 [Foxfire: Meteor].
I would work on [Accel Step] while my tails did that. Mana augmentations are a bit different. It's possible to teach her this without the magic circle just show her how I do it and have her do the same with wind and adjust the mana application to the nature of wind but… I want to make Yv overpowered so I need to add some stuff into it that can’t be taught using that method.
Yv, what would be a good addition to a skill that speeds you up at every step?
“Something to protect your feet?”
I snapped my fingers and pointed up.
You’re a genius! I lost so many shoes using that!
“Wouldn’t that be the first thing that would come up…”
Would it?
I started to mess with its magic circle, but I had no clue how to bake in ‘foot protection’. Reducing friction? Or extra reinforcement of the feet?
“How about being able to change direction at will and not having to deal with inertia?”
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
You can’t do that?
“Agnis… I have a weight…”
Ah… right. Let’s add that, too.
How do I address this? Set the weight to 0 or add more control to the movement. Altering this skill seemed simple, but it's getting to the point where I have to write bulky clusters of mana runes. I seem to have been cheating with my race on this skill, it seems.
“Also, it should consume a lot of mana or energy, so might want to cut that down too.”
Wind probably doesn’t generate energy when using [Accel Step] like the lightning version does, so that is also a concern. All this and I’m not even making it overpowered… I’m just making sure that Yv can use it…
Yv went through a list of issues that I ignored either due to the nature of lightning or the nature of my race or just ignored like my feet hurting.
A day passed. Giana had passed out after succeeding, and I was still working on making [Accel Step] ‘Yv friendly’.
She was leaning over me, watching me messing with mana clusters and pulling mana runes out of my dimensional pocket.
“It looks like a puzzle.”
Yeah, unfortunately for me, I’m used to obnoxious puzzles. Some parts are just ‘throwing mana runes at it and see what sticks’ type of messing around.
Something clicked and most of the clusters fell in place.
“What happened?!”
I did something good. Clusters often do this when I unfuck the foundation of the skill. Most existing skills have messed up foundations, so this can be done to many skills, causing the clusters to fall down and click into place and create a better version. So, this skill can be used by you now but It's missing some cool additions.
“What would you recommend?”
Make it flashy.
“That’s all?”
What else than flashiness is needed? Maybe make it usable underwater or… tornado kick! It needs to do something when one uses a tornado kick!
Yv, do you know how to tornado kick someone?
“Of course! Kicking is also one of my specialties!”
I glanced at her legs, realizing that made a lot of sense.
Hehe, expect something cool to happen when you tornado kick while using this skill.
I got to work. [Accel Step] is a utility skill, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t have some offensive perks. I added [Wind Blades] on evasion, as from the few thing’s I’ve seen from Yv is that she stops attacking after dodging excessively. It makes sense, but I solved that problem years ago to the point it’s a reflex.
With that done, it’s the special effect created by tornado kicking.
Being a perfectionist cost me another day, but it was done. Yv had no problem learning the magic skill. She hopped around a bit. “Wow! This is so efficient!”
She started hopping around and bouncing off walls and ceiling to the point where it was near impossible to follow her without Elgards eyes.
Giana and Yv seemed happy with their new skills, and I continued on working on the ultimate skill I had been working on for a while. It will make [Hattrick] seem like it was made for toddlers. I don’t know what the most complicated magic skill in existence looks like, but this skill will probably be up there. There are still some perquisites needed.
More complexity allows for more freedom. One of my goals is for it to be a boogeyman to gods. They are forced to run or die when this skill comes out. Divine energy levels are taken in consideration. Any god that’s below 70% divine energy level will get fucked over, hopefully.
It’s looking good so far but… the magic circle is gigantic and needs so much mana, It's not even funny. I could activate the magic circle, but nothing would happen because of the mana cost. There is a loophole, but that only kicks in after I’ve used this skill 9 times. Using it once will be a challenge, 9 times… let’s hope it doesn’t come that far, but it will become easy after that.
I had archived [Humanity’s Last Hope]’s magic circle and repurposed the part that targets anything non-human to targeting gods.
The 112 th epic was completed and I rested. The framework had been set. The bare minimum of this skill had been completed.
I glanced through [Azure Mist] as it held one of the prerequisites I needed for my new ultimate skill. I needed the scaffolding that supported the clusters to hold skills to ‘prime’ the skill and expand on it. This might need a paper written on itself, as it seems quite complicated.
So much to do. A good thing I’m immortal. My tails got delegated to that task and I curled up in my tails. 2 envious gazes fell on me immediately, but I ignored them.

follow if the story is interesting enough.
