Chapter 8: grinding suck

We entered the dungeon. I had been studying various forms of magic, and it was finally time to put my knowledge to the test. Leading us was useful, with my friends 13 and the Queen, along with my guild members. Well, the guild system doesn’t officially exist, so they were more like unofficial guild members.

Naturally, I tried using illusion magic from the light element and combined it with life magic. This resulted in low-grade creation magic to generate fire. However, I quickly realized this method was flawed—I had no control over the newly created fire. Creation magic couldn't manifest something unless I had sufficient knowledge about it. It required a certain level of understanding to work.

Still, I discovered a better way to use it. I created a bunch of mirrors, manipulated them with telekinesis, and began firing off lasers by adjusting the mirrors' positions, I could use the mirrors to reflect the laser beam. This allowed me to essentially "laser" everything in sight. It wasn’t bad at all. I considered trying reverse healing magic, but the dungeon worked like a video game, continuously spawning monsters. They hadn’t accumulated injuries, making the concept of reverse healing ineffective.

Reverse healing takes injuries a person has sustained throughout their life and essentially reverts them into an active wound. The concept is borderline time magic, as it involves taking an old injury, even one that no longer exists, and reversing its healed state. The effectiveness depends on how perfectly it was healed—minor imperfections left by healing magic serve as a record of the wound. Using this record, the spell recreates rather than repairs. However, it would still rely on vitality-draining magic, which is slow and inefficient.

Now seemed like a good time to test my new trap magic. This non-elemental spell creates a magic circle visible only to the caster and conceals another spell within it. When someone steps on it, the concealed spell triggers. Interestingly, traps can also be placed mid-air, activating upon contact. My magical traps were quite effective, though they had a drawback: friendly fire. I needed to modify the spell so others could see the traps as well. That shouldn’t be particularly difficult.

I continued using the mirror-laser trick. It was simple yet highly effective. The monsters here weren’t particularly strong, but I was gaining levels quickly. I decided to experiment with a few more spells before calling it a day. Grinding was proving fruitful. Calling a day i head back to my mansion.

I had an ingenious idea. I acquired a golden scepter from a craftsman and began modifying my trap spell. By altering the spell, I transformed it into a sealing spell. I placed it on the scepter and sealed a spell within it. To my delight, it worked! I discovered that I could enchant an item by sealing a spell inside it.

However, the effect was temporary, as the enchantment would eventually wear off. By incorporating a magic core—not just as a power source but also as an anchor—I found a way to create a magical item capable of producing other magical items.

I tested my new "Scepter of Life." Why did I name it that? Well, it combined life magic and light magic, both of which have healing spells. The methods of healing differ: life magic accelerates natural recovery and restores vitality, while light magic manipulates vitality and life force to reconstruct the body. In other words, life magic repairs the body, while light magic heals it at a molecular level.

The regressor's book I studied contained a variety of advanced spells and useful information, including locations to find rare magic. As a high-level player, I had been researching all elements of magic to find loopholes in the elemental system. Officially, a person is limited to three elements, but I believed there were ways to bypass this restriction. For instance, non-elemental magic could potentially adopt any element, though it required imposing rules and restrictions, which limited its power.

After further testing, I perfected the Scepter of Life. I sealed a true healing spell within it using a modified version of my trap spell. This allowed the scepter to permanently function as a magic tool, though the enchantment would eventually fade. By anchoring the spell with a magic core, I ensured its longevity.

The true healing spell I developed was remarkable. It combined the best aspects of life and light magic, restoring a person to their peak condition. It cured diseases, removed curses, neutralized poisons, and healed injuries. Essentially, it was equivalent to a legendary elixir. I sealed this spell within the scepter, which I named the "Staff of Life."

The Staff of Life had another unique feature: it could mass-produce other magical items. By activating the sealed spell, it created a copy of itself within another item. However, the copies were not perfect, resulting in slightly weaker magical items. Still, this feature was invaluable for mass production. Considering how rare the life element is, having a supply of powerful healing items was revolutionary.

The original staff’s abilities remained unparalleled since I crafted it myself. It could also activate the spell directly without releasing the seal, adding versatility to its use. This innovation had the potential to revolutionize the magic tool industry.

After completing the Staff of Life, I decided to take a break from grinding and the lab. I planned to relax by re-watching some old anime from the 21st century. Modern entertainment had become too commercialized, with advertisements in almost everything. At least older series had some charm.

As I reflected on my progress, I realized how much time I had spent in the dungeon and in the lab. What felt like a day had actually been a year. Time had flown by as I delved deeper into magic and crafting. Despite the challenges, I was proud of my accomplishments and excited to see how my innovations would shape the future.

Also will I still reach the grand elder Evolution or The Butterfly Effect screw me over.
