PoR Ch. 47

Rachamah stares up at the dimly lit moon, the world illuminated by a small campfire. She’s propped herself up on a rock to avoid sitting in a small lake of blood. She thinks to herself to get the demons' remains in the area off her mind. Rachamah looks up deep in thought. That guy… he’s from another world. Was he sent here to kill the demon lord as well? The heroes usually have better support systems. He’s dangerous to keep far away… far too meticulous, it can’t be luck, he knows the future.

He’s probably already got my secret figured out. He’d naturally want to after the whole Beelzebub situation, he’d immediately try to figure out that ability… I hope we don’t end up as enemies.

Rachamah’s mind drifts off into a past memory, back in that fishing hut before she had ever met Arata.

Thunder sounds throughout the seas one stormy night. Rachamah ponders to herself as lightning strikes around her. Is the Kraken an octopus or a squid? Squids have triangle heads… octopuses are circles but Krakens have both.

As she ponders to herself, she continues to row further out into the sea.

Her boat was tiny, a petite fishing boat that may not have even been designed to cross a lake against the violent waves; they were big enough to topple her but as per her usual procedure, she'd cut them in half with the magurokiri.

Squid? Octopus? Avatars of the demon god Ashura? All equally possible options.

Rachamah finds herself in a calmer patch of water. Good enough to start fishing… bait now.

Rachamah looks down in her bucket full of severed human hands, tossing one into the ocean as a test.

  *Crash*

Rachamah's boat shakes as a creature rises from the water, having heeded Rachamah's bait. A slimy tendril shoots out from the ocean floor, blasting back Rachamah's ship.

The wood creaked, on the verge of splintering apart. It was a miracle that the thing still held together.

The creature emerges from the ocean, wingspan larger than a warship, its tentacles could throw Rachamah's ship all the way back to shore, yet the beast was hesitant to approach. The creature had three heads, one squid head, one octopus head and another head beyond recognition. The very middle head sagged forward, too much heavy purple pulsating coral weighed the creature down.

Oh, lucky, that one looks well above average. Rachamah, however, has no sense of glee despite that. She stares into the soil of the creature before her.

The creature attacks, swinging one tentacle after another. They were parried by Rachamah's blade, although vastly different in size, Rachamah's boat and body hardened themselves into an unbreakable shield.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

The gigantic Kraken quickly realized "...quickly realized it couldn't do anything,” the monster's tentacles retreated underwater. The base of the creature is surprisingly quite stiff… rigid unlike a regular squid-octopus due to the unique structure. I wonder if it's ever had to deal with an attack from above.

Rachamah knew what was going to happen next, using a coating of wind to brace the boat for impact. Steam begins pouring off of Rachamah as she readies her sword, slamming it into the waters below with a powered-up strike.

Bursting out from the water, Rachamah and her boat were launched upwards as she abandoned ship, landing right in the center of the creature's head.

There was a little indent where the three heads met, a weak spot of the creature. Rachamah sinks her talons into the flesh to hold herself steady while her other hand begins to slice through the monster.

The magurokiri can't cut too deeply, but it can gradually shave away its body. Cut after cut, the meat flies off in ribbons as Rachamah begins digging a hole into the creature's skull.

  *Roooaaaar*

The creature flails its body around in distress when suddenly, from its mouths it sprays out pressurized water, the massive beams have enough impact to fling the kraken's head back. The liquid beams split the clouds, parting lightning and revealing the gray moon overhead.

The beast’s struggle worked, Rachamah found herself flying off of the creature's head. Can't land in the water… the boat's nearby, land on that.

Readjusting herself, her feet reached solid ground again.

Need to get above it, want to do more damage this time. Is a boat a weapon?

Rachamah's magic begins to encapsulate a boat oar, she heads to the back of the boat.

Just as the Kraken tries to move again, a giant wave is formed by the movement. Rachamah pushes hard, creating a gust of wind to launch her boat.

Riding the wave, Rachamah steers the boat ready to land in the crevice. She carves down an end of the oar to make it sharper using her magurokiri.

The creature is too big and slow to react, Rachamah's boat piercing its skull, exposing the creature's brain. Not going to eat the brain anyway, so it's fine.

Rachamah dual-wields her oar and sword, relentlessly stabbing the creature until you could make fish balls with it. The creature begins to shake and spasm.

Has too big a brain for ikejime… fish struggled too much in dying moments. Not viable for customers. Rachamah's blade prys deeper until she finally reaches the brain stem.

How do I get it back to shore… probably got to cut off a piece but it feels so damn wasteful. One tentacle should be enough for dinner.

Rachamah wastes no time, ripping the boat from the kraken's skull before harvesting any amount of me she can from the corpse.

Unfortunate find… not a lot of meat could be carried back, so it can't be sold to customers. Maybe the flavor will be worth it.

Actually, there's one person, Selena's always a voluntary taste tester. I think I'll ask her to try some.

Rachamah begins to row back. Her leg room is almost entirely taken by almost enough kraken meat to capsize the ship.

Guh… my muscles feel sore. I wish someone else could row the boat for me now, it's getting heavy. Rachamah found yet another regret in hunting for the kraken.

Alas, she returned to land, dragging the monster meat into the shop.
