Chapter 43: A Friend Lost In Time

Max slowly entered, and before him stood the familiar purple streaked monster of a wolf. The wolf looked up at him and laughed wickedly.

"I sure do love watching you guys suffer...tell me, how was the knight attack? Too much?"

Max clenched his fist, but immediately calmed himself.

Remember, your previous actions caused this.

Max looked deep into Azazel's glowing purple eyes. "Enough of the games, Azazel....I know the truth about you." The purple eyed beast slowly bared his teeth at him and glared.

"Don't even get started with me!" Azazel warned.

Max shook his head, doing his best not to cry. "This isn't you, Matthew - "

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

"Matthew's DEAD!" Azazel shouted, then twitched. Max almost cried, but he had to force the tears away. "How did you get this way? Why didn't you tell me that nothing was alright?"

Azazel growled. "You make things all about you, Max. Always the one that needs the most attention! Forget a small, pathetic RUNT like me!" The purple beast then changed into the dark figure. He peeled off the mask, and turned to Max.

Max could recognize the face of Matthew, only he was pale. His veins were showing, but the veins were violet, left from the crystal. His eyes were still a deep purple.

  "Oh, my God!" Max cried.

"Oh, don't be so surprised, Max." Azazel began. "You never gave a shit about me anyway. After all.......it's always been you!"

Max could feel the tears come down as he looked into the eyes of what was once Matthew. "I'm sorry I've been so selfish."

Azazel scoffed. "Yeah, now you're getting all gushy with me. Keep your bullshit to yourself!" He held his hand up, and took off the gloves and pulled up the sleeves to examine it. It twitched.

Max looked at Azazel's purple streaked hand in horror. "The crystal - it changed you."

Azazel turned back to him. "For the better!"
