Five Hundred And Thirty-Two

As my sciousness returned from the upper Astral, I breathed out a sigh of relief, as my mind reected with my Astral and Material bodies, and I realised only a short time had passed. That made sense, with the time dition in effect, but it still reassured me. Though one issue I immediately noticed was that a Territory Barrier was ba effect, having sprung ien the moments that seemed minutes I shared with the Valkyries high above.

It’s not the same barrier. Not Hermodike’s. It must be Midas’ barrier. Do they have a shared or overppiory? That was something iing to sider, as I had my Vassals, but now was not the time. All my Split Thoughts and Intellect was surging, thinking my way through the situation. A lot had happened in mere minutes, and while I was desperate to act, the situation chaotid dangerous, the Valkyries were right, ag hastily wasn’t the same as ag swiftly. A few seds now to make the right move could salvage the situation…

Now that I uood the basicept of the existence of Truesouls and soullight, my Eye seemed to sit easier in my socket, less weighty on my spirit. Taking a moment, I quickly examihe Seeds, set in their bracelets of Truesoul, assessing if they could be any further help to me here.

Ortlinde’s Wolf-Hair Bracelet Of Silver Wisdom [Item Css: Legendary] [Item Type: Principle]

This spiritual item, attuned and impnted into both Material and Astral subtle bodies, is fed from a strand of Ortliruesoul, hewn from her very existe great cost. This creates a resonant bond with the bearer’s own Truesoul, f a cascade effect that allows effit strengthening and transferring of power, far in excess of what should reasonably be possible.

This strand of Truesoul has been fed together with ample Soullight, Adherend Aether, and the essence of a Divine Favour of Tyr. In addition, a number of Seeds of the Fruit Of The World Tree, Yggdrasil, have been lodged within, and bee acclimatised to the bearer of this miraculous bracelet, and through exposure to the Physical, Spiritual and Soul aspects of the bearer as they grow, the Seeds will be absorbed perfectly, the energies they carry adapting to the bearer. The purer the adaption, the greater the absorbed strength, and the Truesoul of the bearer will alsthen.

As the Seeds are absorbed, so too will be the Truesoul, leading to a greater resonant e betweeruesoul of the creator and the bearer. The Favour within will also be ged and adapted by the Seeds, the Adherend Soullight within mutating.

The information my Eye could deliver now was signifitly enhanced, and I felt perhaps I was close to another breakthrough. I suppose an Eye of Knowledge would grow when I learn new, shog things. The information on the rand of Truesoul I had picked up was also dispyed, and it was rgely the same, though the name was different…

Siegrune’s Giant-Hair Bracelet Of Chaotic Wisdom [Item Css: Imperious][Item Type: Principle]

There was ara part to the information, as well as the Favour not being Tyr’s, but Loki’s! For a sed I thought that was odd, as in most stories I had read, Loki was an antagonistic force to the other Nods, but giving it a moment’s thought, I realised that firstly, while there were obvious corretioweehs and what Earth was experieng now, I knew nothing about how the Pantheons actually worked, and sedly, sidering Tan, her father Mara would certainly be sidered an evil God, but he seemed to be part of his Pantheon without worries. Perhaps the Pantheons aren’t simply a monolith, but the Gods within fun as an alliance?

Anyway, the amber letters fred, and I quickly absorbed the information revealed.

This item has been signifitly damaged, many Seeds extracted improperly, damaging the underlying strand of Truesoul belonging to Siegruhus resonance while possible, is weaker. The Favour of Loki, Loki’s J?rmungandr Fangs, has beeroyed, and only remnants of the Adherend Truesoul linger within. The Seeds be used to empower and strengthen, but as they have already been dyed by the Adherend Soullight of the past bearer, the effect is unsuited to other subtle bodies, and thus the gain is uable and proo fws.

Makes sense. Again, it seemed to be why Ortlinde had left me with virtually nothing to start with. The greater the dahe less I had already, the more easily adaptable to my he Seeds became. So I probably ’t use these Seeds for my purpose, at least not yet. But now they are a proper part of me, through Siegrune’s strand of Truesoul, I start adapting them to my needs…

Cheg the two Divine Favours I held, that of Taranis I took from that brat Donovan in London, as well as the new one I had wrenched free from the attacker here ierial, I leased to firm my suppositions. Yeah, these are also crafted from tiny shards or threads of Truesoul, likely from the Gods themselves. No wohey aren’t eager to give out too many or those to…

It was like death from a million cuts. They seemed different to the Bracelets, from what I could tell, the Truesoul from Favours was still attached more securely to the Gods, the resonance deeper. So, the majority return… in fact… are they even severed strands like the Valkyries did, or is their approximation simply made wrong from ck of a deeper uanding, or other factors?

I didn’t have any further time to sider, even with my accelerated thoughts going through all this in an instant, time recious. Ta do her own Favours, but she knows enough to bind to Shiro. I had imagi was just a linkage of their spiritual bodies, but now… I’m almost certain there has to be a Truesoul bond too. So she must be knowledgeable to aent…

That aside, I addressed Adelheid, who was holding off the surviving Chosen of Dino’s fa, while Midas was grinding his teeth in fury, deadly radiating waves of metallic dust p from him. Where they passed, Dino’s forces perished, coughing up tainted froths of blood and internal matter, aether scattering as their bodies started to petrify to metal. “ you hahings here for a while?”

“Shit. Demanding ara sausage again, are you?” Her smile was bitter, and her face was streaked with blood, but she nodded. “Do what you o, but you owe me! I don’t fet!”

With my new knowledge, my Eye could now see the Soullight and Truesoul within the spaces that simply appeared as abseo me before in the Favours. I was therefore more able to prevent Dino from fully quering it, and saw the e between a Favour, the Territory Anchor and the bearer. I don’t have long. If I try and fight it right now the Favour’s just going to pletely disie…

There was a lot to unpack, but now wasn’t the time. Now was the time to act swiftly, but not in haste. “Great, I may be asking for ara sausage, but it’s a meat feast on me when this is all done, order what you like!” With that I turned away, leaving a faintly red Adelheid shaking her head, a bitter scowl on her face.

“Shit. Shit. He said that on purpose! I’ll be telling Frau Hinata about this!”

My Chakra work had been strengthened by the absorption of another Seed, and had Ranked up. That gave me annifit boost to my Statistics, as well as an overall improvement in my aether and elemental geion. But the sed Seed had been more iing. It had not only strengthened my Chakra, but thanks to the aid of the Valkyrie Rossweisse and her runes, it had been able to assimite the adherend spatial power of Godwin’s Seven-League Boots, iing it as a Skill rather remi of those granted by Favours.

Now the boots are just a nice pair, with no special powers. I feel a little sorry, si was a treasure of the Tower of London, but… me having a power is better than relying on items. After all, items be lost, broken or… my Eye glowed as I ied the Favour I was struggling to trap. …time to go. L the barely stabilised Hermodike to the ground, I moved.

Spatial element boiled, and I teleported. It wasn’t the short hops I did with Void Motion, but I was suddenly three kilometres away, following the eg glow of Soullight, and, ign the bitter pain in my feet, I fixed my gaze on the great hole that had been burned into the ground, a metre across, the edges shimmering with flecks of light, smooth like volic gss.

Performance is good. I doubt I get back to Japan with this Skill, but crossing hundreds of miles rapidly should be very possible. The new Skill, Seven-League Wings Of The Chooser, was at its heart a spatial teique which could send me a signifit distan a siep. Ordinarily the cost of su spatial element would run me dry in short order, but noowerful adherence had been absorbed and ied within me, and that reduced the cost to manageable levels, though the Geas had now also bee the fuel. Fortunately my stats aher Healing were up to the task, but prolonged use would definitely lead to me needing to grow new feet.

Without hesitation I threw myself down the retly charred hole, following the Soullight glow. As I fell, I chuckled at the st line of the Skill description. While it is a great honour to be swept up in Valkyrie Wings, and Chosen to be one of the true Einherjar, the bearer of this Skill wishes to arrive before those his wings enfold are sin, even at the cost of maddening pain. For Choosing life suits better than Choosih, noble or otherwise.

Damn right. Sometimes my Eye sasses me, but other times, it’s spot on. My thoughts were scattered moments ter, as a sudden howling gale of jade wind element surged, the gssy walls of the hole sliced apart into a maelstrom of glittering gss knives. I merely frowanking them, my Brigaarting tle to keep up with the damage, but I was beyond such attaow.

As I thought that, the smell of ozone filled the air, and lightning seared up at me. This attack was more dangerous, but in the narrow pit there was no room to dodge, so I tered by juring Prominence Dusk, sug it in, the penumbra at my back crag with dark energies, brilliant light illuminating the ground below. Moments ter I dropped inte cavern, looking like an underground hangar, the roof and floor ected by great stactites and stagmites.

“You’re a persistent thorn in my fug side…” Dino growled. He was barely a human now, a shifting figure of winds and lightning, but to my amusement I noticed that two of his fingers, those he’d lost earlier, hadn’t reformed. “…I’ve been pnning for weeks to take down Khumo and Lo, gain the great strength for doing so, but… I got greedy and thought I could take you on as well. I wonder why? Everything was so perfect. I’m normally more methodical.” His eyes shimmered with elemental energies, and with a gesture he swept his arm, the rock pilrs around him shattering, bolts of aetheric light caught in a barrier of swirling winds, not unlike Shaeu’s Emerald Wind Prison.

“Fuck, Khumo’s a paranoid bastard. His bolthole is riddled with traps…” Lightning bzed, and in the distance a number of Defensive Empts were bathed in f bolts of energy, before colpsing, the golden ns topped with the familiar crystals exploding.

Waves of strange creatures were battling, though several madzagadza’s Spawn were ploughing through like living tanks, crushing the monkey-like defenders underfoot and belg venomous fumes that seemed to corrode whatever it touched. One Spawn hammered into anolden Building, and the gold tarnished as cws raked down it again and again, until it exploded, ether scattering, only to be absorbed by the struggliory.

“…but there’s always a weak link. That idiot Nkosi cims to be a hunter, but me… I’m a poacher.”

“You’re a traitor.” I shook my head, and he ughed sfully, winds blowing, eg his voice around the cavern.

“Hardly. Khumo and me, we were just using each other. No matter how strong he is, he and his wife ’t survive alohe savannah as are full of the bones of those who tried.” He s my y. “It’s a weak will like that which will see you fall! You are wasting a precious gift. The Seeds are power!” He raised one hand, lightning fring. “And power should be used by those fit for it!”

“I see.” I shook my head. “I see you’re strong. The Ameris don’t seem to have updated their list taking into at the new power you gained. But you’re the one who isn’t thinking clearly. You’ve mistaken my politeness for weakness.”

“All talk! Even now, you’re stoppiaking what I earned from Lo, and I could feel her rec. She would have plundered you dry! It was her and Khumo who killed that corpse up there, where the Seeds first came from! They don’t have hands!”

“I know. And I’ll extract my pensation. But…” Lightning fshed, bck, light-dev beams unched from my Prominence Dusk searing through the undergrouory. The Spawn were pierced through, colpsing, smoke rising from huge craters seemingly scooped out of their bodies, and as they thrashed in their death throes, smashing apart Buildings and crushing defenders, I watched as the darkness and light dissipated, sparks scattering. “…you first.”

“You think you ?” Dino ughed. “You defeated me before, but… now I am the ination of the storm that blows over the savannahs, the deserts and the mountains. Where the storm blows, so do I go!” He vanished, moving like lightning, and I crossed my arms, a moment too te as he punched me in the chest, sendio one wall. Yeah, his League’s enough to make him petitive. He’s obviously quered a lot. But…

“Die! Die! Die!” His fists of wind and lightning rained down ohe wall behind me crag and shattering. My Brigandine was shredded, and I coughed a little blood. Seeing that, Dino’s lips curved into a smile, only for him to suddenly blink in surprise as I was behind him, light beams pierg him.

“Huh? You scared me for a moment there…” Dino scoffed. “But… how you harm the storm itself? I am it’s embodiment. I am Shango!” Lightning once more fshed, incredibly powerful, detonating thunderously in the enclosed space. The cavern shook, and then my Eye widened in surprise.

That’s the Anchor… I wasn’t the only one who saw it, suddenly revealed as a hollow area of ground colpsed, the twisted Dungeon space around it uo withstand the boosted fury. Dino saw it too, and with a savage griurned away, once more transmuting into lightning.

“You’re dessert. The main course is…” His fading words were distorted as I appeared in front of him, sound suddenly reag me from the opposite side. It made my head buzz, but as Dino roared in rage, winds slig into me, I put all my strength into one Foehn, and a bzing, hungry glow, greedier than ever, bloomed. Silver and gold metal shattered under my grip, and I once more sidered the first ge I would make at Territory Rank four. Yeah, I have a stant guard around the Anchor now, and we’ve structed Kobold-made bunkers and fortifications around it so we’re not only relying oerritory defences, but… it’s a weak link, sure, and now I see why. Truesoul es…

“You fucker! That was mine!” Dino howled, flying backwards to avoid the Foehn. I blinked away the message telling me queror had Levelled, and the Favour was torn free from Midas, the Truesoul strands reeled in.

All right. Got to finish this fast. I don’t actually want Midas to die. But… Now I had temporary possession of both Divine Favours of Ajé-Shaluga, I knew what I had to do. Sure, this is wasteful, but… it so happens we have a lot of materials just lying around… The Favour I had taken from the Chosen ba the Material shattered. It wasn’t as useful as this one, but I o observe the Truesoul, as well as gain a lot of adherence fast.

But it’s time to multitask… “Like I said, you fused my politeness for an unwillio fight.” I used Void Motion not once, but twice. I appeared beside him, and he dodged, shih wind and lightning, but I had also used Void Motion to move a number of bullets I had created from the rock around us, filled with Foehn. They pierced Dino, and his winds sheared apart the stony shells, leaving him drenched in fme.

“That won’t… ahh… it burns!” Dino cried out, fmes boiling free beginning to feast on his wind and lightning.

“It would do. Fire es wind, moron!” I called forth more Foehn, wanting to finish this quickly. I could see his Favour was overworked, the lingering energies of the Seeds fortifying it. Yeah, like Midas’ favour I’m holding. It’s been enhanced by the Seeds, but… the Seeds don’t suit it, hence why the energy is imperfed the Seeds get used up… but…

With a grin, I worked the first part of my Chirurgery, and just like I had taken apart Morena’s and Jarovid’s Faviving me, Shaeu and Shiro the remains, I did the same here. The Truesoul was severed, though I made sure to keep all of the soullight intact, and Di a brief surge of power, only to suddenly blink, enraged.

“My bounty! I was going to e it and grow strain! This is all your fault!”

“How so? I’m the victim of your plots.” I targeted his body with beams of light and bolts of darkness element. The light didn’t do much more than scare him, but the darkness caused him signifit pain. More Foehn fred, and I cast it downwards like a drizzling rain, and as he burned, he tried to flee, smashing up through the ceiling like a bolt of lightning, but I could see him dimming. Yeah, his ability is powerful, but it won’t st long. It reminds me of this whole chasm. Is it the nature of the Seeds touched by Loki, maybe? Fshy but rather oe?

“Going somewhere?” Ign the pain in my feet I crossed the distance, and my fist smmed his head. My League fred, outmatg his, and Foehn boiled as he crashed into the ground like a meteor. I nded beside him on tender heels, and as he retaliated with surges of wind, I merely tered with my own.

“Fuck you, fuck you! Why… this wasn’t…” he babbled, turning to lightning and trying to pierce me through. This time I did block, by wreathing myself in Foehn momentarily, and he bounced away, rolling on the ground to extinguish the fires in a futile effort. Seeing their boss taking a beating, and being outcssed by Adelheid’s power, Titan easily mopping up the slowed and pos with brute strength, the st Chosen threw up their hands.

“You baaaaaaastard!” Dino cried, drawing out his words with rage. “Nkosi was right, you outsiders always e here and take from us…” His words were cut off as Void Motion smmed more Foehn-den missiles into him, and now he had actually shrunk, the energies making up his restored form ed. He’s the size of a child, of Adelheid, now. Oops, she’s gring at me. How do they all know when I’m thinking something dumb?

“You’re back. The oppression is gone, and Midas went down like a sack of shit. I watched over him.” Adelheid came running over dragging the shuddering Midas, his eyes rolled ba his head, and blood and silver mist frothing from his mouth. Over one small shoulder she was also hauling Hermodike, her faow battered and bloody from being dragged along the ground. Christina was hiding in her shadow, an expression of mixed excitement and horror in her eyes. She looked half-dead, just from being caught in the ial chaos of the battle. Hopefully she’ll learn from it. Though that might be too much to ask.

“He doesn’t look good. Don’t think he’ll make it.” Adelheid observed. “I’ve seen it before. He smash his Anchor?” She jerked a head at Dino, who tried to flee as I seemed distracted, but a cage of darkness element pinned him in, making him scree pain.

“his one was on me.” I raised my hand, and the cage was filled with more Foehn.

“I’m surprised.” Adelheid frowned, before ging her mind. “Then, you did work me ood, so maybe not.”

“Yes, some of ents did die trying to take him in.” Christina agreed. “Ahreateo decre war on the Uates alone if we crossed him again.” She pushed at her gsses, shaking her head.

“I remember both things quite differently.” I disagreed. “You were the one who tried to fight me, little Tanya…”

“My name is Adelheid!” she shot back automatically, in a repeat of the skit that erformed a number of times over the st day or so.

“As for the agents… the ohat died went after civilians and put those under my prote in harm’s way. The ohat didn’t are still alive, aren’t they? As for deg war… I’m simply not prepared just to punish people following orders. I’ll go for those who create the schemes.”

Din to break out of my cage of darkness element, shrinking away as he burned, suddenly barked an insane ugh. “I’m not sure how you mao fend off our atta Khumo’s house… but… kill me, and you’ll be sorry!”

“How so?” I asked. “To my mind, looks like you’re done. Your Material body’s got to be pretty screwed by now, all the damage you took…”

“Right now… my people have surely captured those riobles you were with at the Kumba-Stillwater event!” Dino spat desperately. “We were going to ransom them, but… if I die here, my people will surely take reve’ll be horrible. One was a young woman, wasn’t she?” His tone was a mixture e, pleading and glee. “I’m a gentleman, but some of my followers… it’d be a terrible shame if… argh!” His words were cut off as a wave of darkness element rolled over him, inflig great torment.

My eyes glittered with fury as I gred at him, as I took Midas from Adelheid and began emergeher Healing and Chirurgery to at least stabilise him. “I’ll add that to your punishment.” I warned Dino. “But I already know. And… I’ll deal with it.”

This is stressing my Split Thoughts fiercely. Lucky I got the stat boosts from my Chakra work Ranking up… I was also perf Chirurgery owo Favours of Ajé-Shaluga, trying to take the damaged ohat was Hermodike’s and ie it into Midas’ one, as well as refining it to make it more patible.

“As for all of you…” I gnced around at the surviving Chosen, who were fewer in han anticipated, as Midas had proved why he was high on the Vermillion List, his fury at Dino’s betrayal and his wife’s defeat driving him to dangerous madness. Not that I don’t uand, but yht it on yourself… “Those who live by taking from others shouldn’t pin when you’re taken from, should you? And before you decide to cut and run…” My gaze hardened. “You pay the priow and walk out of here, or you try and escape, but I will not be merciful when I catch you.”

“Don’t listen to him… he…” Dino tried to incite his beaten followers, but he was cut off as Foehn bloomed outside the darkness cage, sileng him, leaving the small figure trembling in fear. His forces were too demoralised to resist much, and with the defeat and humiliation of Dino, who had ruled them like a tyrant, their cohesion had shattered.

Ba the Material, Hinata ag restlessly. It had only been minutes, but she was deeply worried for Mayumi and her grandfather. Kazumi-san was trying to fort her, while I was attempting to tact Aliyah and Trey, the phing out.

“Akio, what do we do?” Hinata asked, panicked. “This is such a mess…”

“I know. But we’ve almost dealt with things here.” I reassured her. “But they have been taken for ransom, so hopefully they shouldn’t have been harmed. Anyway…” I looked at Hinata closely. “It’s time to make a decision.”

“A decision?” At my serious tone, Hinata was distracted from her worry and faced me, her brown eyes meeting my grey ones. “What do you need from me?”

She’s a good girl. She immediately puts aside her pain and starts thinking of us, and how she be me. I… have to repay that faith in me. No, not have to, I want to. “It’s like this. Do you want to be a Chosen? If so… I leave you here without worry. But if you do take up this mantle…”

“I know. Like Kana, Eri, everyone else… I’ll have to prove worthy of it.” Hinata nodded, uanding. “I don’t think I’m much of a fighter, but Kana isher, and she manages. So… which Favour is suitable for me?”

“It’s this…” I finished up my plicated Chirurgery and crafting, bining my Skills. Using Midas’ Favour as the base, I ied what was left of Hermodike’s Favour, and while the improperly ied Seeds were a little awkward to work around, I believed that I could stabilise it fully ter. “Fortunately, while my adhereocks are low, we have a lot of spare Favours to work with…”

Hinata the implication, especially with our captured Chosen here. “It’s a shame, but it’s simply not possible to hold all of the Favours of those you’ve beaten, is it?”

“No, the adherence drain simply scales up too fast. And now I think it might also overstress something else.” I shook my head. “But I need adherence for a lot of things, like impnting and also repairing and shaping Favours, as well as hopefully saving Mayumi…”

“You save her?” Hinata’s expressihtened. “Oh… sorry, now isn’t the time for that.” She ged the subject, though she was still pale. “You get stronger when you break down Favours too, don’t you?”

I agreed. “Yeah, though since I’ll be using the adherend other bits for this, I won’t see too many bes. But having fought this mess of a battle alongside Adelheid, and against Dino and Midas… while we need Chosen, a few stronger Choseter than a lot of weaker ones…”

Hinata nodded solemnly. “Yes. I agree. There’s definitely merit in having a number of Vassals, but…” Hinata sighed. “You have too much to protect, and even being a Chosen is no guarantee of safety. So… I will be strong. But I won’t do it at the expense of your other needs. Wealth, political power, influence… you still need more. This proves it.” She then swallowed. “So, I hear this hurts, doesn’t it? But… I’m ready for it. Be… gentle, okay?” She gave me a tremulous smile, and I patted her head, before aether and adherence surged, as did soullight I had extracted from the colpsed Favours I was breaking down. I’m stronger now, so I safely hold three loerm, maybe. Taranis stay for now, but I’ll have to pick the others carefully… anyway…

Hinata felt a fn energy enter her, and she paled, her body shaking. I tried to mitigate her pain as much as possible with Ether Healing, but the pain was on spiritual, or perhaps a soul level, so preventing it all was impossible. Still, eg everything up was much easier now I could see more of the Favour and its ws, as well as the shadow of Hinata’s deeper aspects.

“Hinata… stay strong!” Kazumi-san took one of her hands, while I held the other, and as I worked, Hinata sweating and ag, the Chirurgery only sting a short time, but to her seeming like it took forever, Kazumi-san whispered into my ear, a tiny, almost inaudible buzz, trusting to my enhanced senses, so that Hinata couldn’t hear.

“Is there any I use? I don’t care if it’s weak, or even useless. I need anything that will make me stronger. And… I’ll take any other measure too. I hate being weak. I’m a bodyguard and a friend. I know how Natsumi-san feels. Besides, if Hinata gets a Favour… I feel like I’ll lose my purpose.”

Yeah, she’s been shaken by this mess, as well she might be. But… With my eyes, I tried to express that she shouldn’t be hasty, and she gave me a knowing look, before nodding. Moments ter, I was done, and Hinata’s eyes brightened, her body full of energy.

“This… this is Midas’ Favour… and Hermodike’s too?” She seemed shocked, but I shook my head.

“ly. But… it’s certainly close enough. It’s now just this.”

Ajé-Shaluga’s Golden River Of Prosperity And Treasures: This Divine Favour is made from two paired Favours, though part has been stripped of its Truesoul e. It has also been fortified by Seeds of the Fruit Of The World Tree, and through clever Chirurgery and Shaping of Adherend Soullight, the bes have been maximised while retaining as much strength as possible.

Crafted from trated Adherence, refiher and Soullight iruesoul strands, this Favour search out and find treasures, objects of spiritual significe, rich resources and exploitable wealth. Treasures and items also be improved, and instincts and luck regarding such matters are sharpeo a high degree. Fortune signifitly increases, Fate increases, and Charm also increases. In addition, this Favour bestows the Mutated Metal Elements Gold, Silver and Copper on the bearer, though due to the incorrectly applied nature of the Seed that enhahe Metal Element, only a very small amount of Silver and Copper Elements are geed, and Gold Element is also signifitly reduced from what it should be as pensation.

If the Seed could be properly ied, this downside could perhaps disappear. Just as Ajé-Shaluga brings prosperity and shelter, warmth and plenty, to hearth, home aionships, so too shall the bearer of this Favour prosper and their family shall be wealthy beyond measure. Yet even Ajé-Shaluga could not predict that the Favour could be used this way. [Css: Legendary][Type: Law]

Not sure why Charm increases, but… it turned out well. Hinata’s… no longer weak. Though other thaher, her Statistics haven’t seen huge gains… but against ordinary people she’ll be fine…

“I… Motoko and Natsumi will be jealous.” Hinata smiled guiltily. “Orip they didn’t get anything, and they even ceded their iss Aditi to help out your political aims. But…” She was resolute, not allowing her guilt to rule her. “They’ll be happy for me. And so…” Hinata frowned. “Huh… I smell a treasure. Quite a few in fact… a scarf of gold, some bangles and jewels…”

I nodded. “Yes. Sadly though, they didn’t help Hermodike wheerritory was usurped. We have to be very careful who we let inside our Territory. I don’t want to get beaten this way, it’d be humiliating, and would bypass a lot of my strength.” Although as I’m not actually using the Favour… I don’t know. I’m definitely still lio my Territory Anchor, so it’ll still damage me, but I daresay I wouldn’t be as crippled as Midas and Hermodike…

Hinata was showing off, juring tiny specks of gold, before suddenly making a eureka face. “My Pot Of Faerie Gold… I think I make it less random… huh…” She blinked, before flushing guiltily. “No, I ’t get distracted. Mayumi. You leave me here… you run fast, right? Faster than a sportscar? It should only take you an hour to two to make it back to Cape Town. Though they could get away in that time…” Biting her lip with ay, my ringing phone surprised us all. Looking down, I leased to see it was Treyvon.

“Finally.” I said, only for his pained words to cut me off. On hearing that the situation was worse than bad, the two Chosen dead, Trey and Aliyah only alive because of Ixitt’s emergency medie and the enemy’s fear of my retribution, I squeezed my phone hard enough for the s to crad metal to deform. No, it’s time to calm down. I do this.

“All right. I’ll be there in a minute.” I hung up, before Trey could reply to my puzzling ent. Seeing that, Hinata looked hopeful.

“A minute? Not even you do that. Though… you?” she asked, and I nodded.

“I . So… Hinata, I’m leaving the Material aftermath to you. As for the Boundary…” My expression was grim as I approached the caged, weakening Dino, after helping myself to aroying a couple of the less useful Favours his surviving minions had to top myself up. “…I have to cim what we’re due as pensation.”

“That’s right.” Hinata agreed with a wicked smile, c her ay. “I’ve told you, always get what we’re owed!”

As Dino screamed, his Favour hewn from him, his body disied, and due to the special nature of it, I didn’t think much of his ces of his Material body surviviher. Despite that, I had little sympathy for him, only gring at the st few Chosen. “So, it’s time to pay up. Don’t worry, I’ll fix you up enough to stand trial when I’m done…”
