As soon as Diered the Rusty Bde Inn he could feel something was off. He washed off the blood c him in a basin beside the door, staining the water red. It ced there to be used by miners for ing off rock dust before a meal.
Now he was retively , he pulled on the basilisk leather coat, disc it erfect fit. Wiping a hand over his face, he looked around the on room for the source of his unease.
There's nothing out of pce, why do I feel like something's wrong? Riva and Tahlea are eating their di the table they were seated at earlier. Wait, where's Estra?
I detect her upstairs through ical tract. Yet her emotional state is pletely unreadable. Thatโs highly unusual.
Riva and Tahlea noticed him entering the on room and motioned him over. Feeling ed, he waved them off as he ged dire toward the stairs. He hurried to asd to the sed floor, heading straight to the room he had left Estra. Arriving at the door, he smmed it open then rushed inside.
It was too dark to see while his eyes adjusted to the dim light ing from the hallway. Something shifted in the er, drawing Dinkโs attention.
"Show yourself!" Dink anded, menagly raising his new sword.
"You put that away. It's just me," Martha said.
A figure walked into the light ing from the doorway to reveal herself. She was holding her hands up pgly in front of her as she cautiously approached him. Dink rexed and put aside his great sword, leaning it against the door frame.
"Martha, where's Estra? Is something wrong?" Dink asked, walking into the dark room.
"I havenโt left her side since you left. She still hasnโt woken from her magic tranot long ago, her breathing became erratid the light surrounding her disappeared. Which I donโt think is a very good sign. you help her?โ Martha helplessly said.
Dink pushed past Martha to discover Estra sitting motionless on the floor ius position. He walked over to crou front of her. Pg a hand against her brow, her skin was hot and damp to the touch. Leaning in close, he she side of her neck. He could detect the faint odour of sulphur.
Using a pair of fingers, he gently pried operaโs eyelids. Her eyes were pletely pale, including the pupils which had bee a milky blue colour. Dink hissed at what he discovered, abruptly standing up. He brushed the cmmy sweat off his hands on his pants, turning to Martha.
โEstraโs vitals are deteriorating. She bit off more than she could chew with processing my draic bloodline. I know who potentially fix this, theyโre not far from here. Iโll shift her to the cart iable. Go get everyone ready,โ Dink instructed, throwing one of Estraโs arms over his shoulder.
He k beside her and scooped her into his arms. She was extremely light as he easily picked her up.
โWhere are you taking her?โ Martha asked, rushing ahead to hold the door open for Dink. He walked past her to desd the stairs, Martha following at his heels.
โThe Sisterhood of Mercy. If it still exists, theyโll have the best ce at healing her,โ Dink replied, pausing to allow Martha to overtake him.
โGasp, โt you just ask the Magus that repaired the Inn to take a look at her? The Sisterhood is abducts young women with their virginity still intact,โ Martha objected. Dink stopped moving to make eye tact with Martha before he responded.
โThat's merely a rumour. There's always desperate people that will resort to selling their daughters. The world is an ugly pce. Did you notice a white sash on Albusโ arm?โ Dink asked.
โNo. Should I have?โ Martha curiously asked, taken aback.
โExactly, heโs not a healer. Although, uhe Nine Disciplines both belong to the Restoration category. Theyโre still separate. Healers usually wear a white sash when theyโre travelling to advertise their services,โ Dink replied.
โI see. you tell me about the Nine Disciplines?โ Martha asked.
โIโll keep this brief because our timeโs limited. The Nine Disciplines divide the different schools of magilike what youโd expect after hearing the name, only seven of them belong to Magus. The first, Augmentation, is what Estra affiliates with. She has old me that but no other discipline would dare to absorb a draic bloodliahlea focuses on Divination. The others are Alteration, Creatioru, Illusion, aoration,โ Dink informed her.
โWhat about the remaining two discliplines?โ Martha asked.
โThe st two disciplines apply to Attuned. Physical, like Axion, and Sensory, like Riva. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. An Attuned is restricted to their one discipline whereas most Magus will dabble in at least two or three different ones,โ Dink tinued. He walked toward the group seated in the on room, seeing Axion had joihem.
"You haven't mentioned Murkuk," Martha added.
"Murkukโฆ well, he only use the single spell ented into his bangstick. So, if you're being teical, I guess he falls uhe Destru discipline," Dink replied, frowning in thought.
"Hahaha, a goat-fucker with any number of spells is too many!' Axion teased, oblivious to Estra being held in Dink's arms.
โDonโt fet the three forbidden disciplines, Dink,โ Riva interjected, overhearing their discussion.
โTheyโre not worth mentioning. To find a Magus stupid enough to be corrupted by that kind of power deserves everything that happens to them,โ Dink dismissed the statement with a shake of his head.
The group noticed Dink and Marthaโs arrival. Pushing their chairs back from the table as they abruptly stood. Seeing the unscious figure of Estra, he rushed over and carefully lifted her from Dinkโs arms.
โWhatโs happened? Estra looks like death!โ Riva suddenly excimed.
โMana backsh. It could be crippling or even fatal if we donโt get her to a healer,โ Tahlea answered, tentatively brushing aside Estraโs strawberry blonde hair pstered to her brow.
