  (The Ring)

  London~~

  *Hospital*

  “I think she is awake” Gracie muttered, going closer to the bed where Megan lay.

  “I will get the doctor” Another voice sounded from the background

  “Megan…are you alright, can you see me?” Gracie asked. Megan battled with her eyelid, and flickered her lashes, as she finally opened her eyes. She was breathing soundly, as she turned to stare at Gracie, who gave her a warm smile

  “Thank goodness you are fine”

  “Where am I?”

  “The hospital”

  “What happened…argh” Megan groaned, as she tried getting up, but Gracie wouldn’t allow that.

  “You don’t need to get up; you are yet to recover fully”

  “How did I end up here…I was supposed to be….”She trailed out as she couldn’t remember the last scene aside from meeting with Martha, and the vampires chasing her. Was that a dream or what? She thought

  “You passed out on stage. We didn’t know what went wrong, because you were perfectly fine when…gosh..., I..don’t know what to say, but all I could say is that you passed out”

  “That was yesterday right?”

  “You have been down for two days” Gracie mouthed

  “What?” Megan screamed but was interrupted by the doctor’s entrance

  “You shouldn’t shout that way Miss Johnson” The doctor stated as Lottie walked behind him.

  “Doctor Eve” Megan struggled to call out. Doctor Eve is her personal doctor.

  “How are you feeling darling?”

  “My back aches a little, but aside from that, I’m fine”

  The doctor nodded

  “According to Gracie, you hit the ground really bad, back at the stage. That’s the cause of the pain. But I will give you some pain relievers to ease the pain.”

  Megan nodded. She returned her gaze to Gracie

  “How did my fans take it?”

  “Bad…they really wanna know what went wrong with you. You have never behaved that way Megan, what happened” Gracie asked.

  Megan sighed

  “Perhaps she was stressed out; you know she had been going to one concert or the other for a while now. She needs rest” Lottie chipped in, Gracie sighed.

  “That’s exactly what I want to tell you. You have been stressing yourself up for a while now Megan, a little rest won’t hurt. You can go on a vacation” Doctor Eve stated

  “Fine…I will just think about it”

  Vampic Fall~~

  “What the hell is he doing here?” Egeus gritted inwardly

  “Welcome Onyx…hope your journey wasn’t nerve-racking” Hunter asked as Onyx smirked

  “Sure…your highness” he stated walking closer to the elders. He stopped right in front of the king, bowing a bit before facing the elders.

  “I’m Onyx…ex servant to the late king, the sixth disciple…the carrier of wrath and key to death….”

  “What the hell are you doing here Onyx; I thought you were banished by the king”

  “Ex king…you won’t disrespect our guest right in front of us, Egeus” Thana snapped..

  “I’m sorry my queen, but he was….”

  “The late king banished him but I brought him back because he is gonna be useful to us all” She cuts in. Onyx’s smirk grew wider as he stared at Egeus’ angry face.

  “You asked earlier why I banished the priestess, well here is the detail

  Flashback

  Walking into the cave, Hunter met it empty, which is unusual; well he hasn’t been visiting the shrine often. But the priestess is supposed to be in.

  His guards were standing outside; he couldn’t bring them all in, in order not to complicate things. He had his own evil motive, so he needed to play it cool.

  “What do I owe this visit my king” The priestess's voice floated in the air, as he turned swiftly to look. She was standing behind him. Hunter smiled

  “Great priestess of Vampic Fall..that is no way to greet the king” Hunter snapped. She chuckled

  “A king, who isn’t ready to listen to the pleas of his people? Why should I pay respect to you?” She asked, walking further into the cave

  “I command you to…but anyways, that’s not what I’m here for”

  “What are you here for?” She resorted

  “I need the ring of Enchante” he stated as she laughed out hieratically which pissed him off.

  “What do you take me for priestess, a clown?” he asked, holding the trident firmly to himself.

  “You can’t get it Hunter, and if I will advise you, please leave this cave now”

  “No…you can’t ask me to leave…you will leave instead” he yelled at her

  “The ring isn’t something you could possess, its power is beyond imagination. You want to use it against any kingdom that starts a war with us right?”

  “What I want to use it for, is none of your business” he grimaced

  “I am an elder, I have lived for a thousand years, but you, are just a child born not more than 300 years ago”

  “You are pissing me off priestess, hand over the ring, I know you possess it”

  “Yes I do, but the truth is, I won’t give it to you. Only a priestess or a vampire that has served in the shrine can wear it on your finger, now tell me; where will you get another vampire that has served as a priest or servant to the priest aside me...haahaahaa” She laughed, but Hunters smirk only increase

  “You seem to be mistaking dear priestess…but I would like you to make your last wish, before stepping out of this kingdom. You have worked enough haven’t you” he winked as she gasped. He was holding the trident all this while without her knowledge. She knew what he was about doing; she could see it in his eyes. Hunter is desperate, but he will never win

  “The goddess will judge you if you try to banish me”

  “Let’s see who she judges first” he stated, and before she could utter a word, he struck the trident into the air, sending the lighting from it into her stomach. She groaned loudly, falling to the floor.

  “Arghhhh….you will never win Hunter…you will never win”

  “I will sissy, I will not just get the ring, but the book also…” he smiled, adding more force to its energy.

  The priestess laughed and groaned, she looked into his eyes and smiled

  “You will never get the seal” She stated and vanished into thin air

  “Phew…never knew this trident got much power…haahaahaa” Hunter screamed in joy, as he spat at the position where the priestess once laid.

  Present~~

  “She couldn’t give me what I want, and she tried to attack me” Hunter stated after telling them a wrong story of what happened.

  “But still, Your Highness, the ring cannot be taken from its colt, it’s held much magic,” Egeus stated

  “With the sacrifice, it will be taken out” Thana stated

  “How will we get the sacrifice” Onyx asked, and just immediately, Lazarus appeared holding a bag, containing blood.

  He bowed to greet the king but stopped abruptly on sighting Onyx; his heart sank to the bottom.

  “What is that bastard doing here” he thought.

  Crystal High~~

  D’ Arcy’s POV

  It’s been two days now, and Emerald has been avoiding me. Is it because I pecked her, arhh, this isn’t fair. I groaned placing my head on the table as I dozed off.A few minutes later, I felt a soft touch on my shoulder. I raised my head to have a look. It was Rose, Emerald’s friend

  “Hi Dave” she called out, wearing a broad smile.

  “Hi Rose” I stated, trying as much as possible to sound cheerful, but deep down, I’m really sad.

  “You have been placing your head on the table for a while now, are you sick?”

  “Oh..no..just tired”

  “Sorry about that, did you engage in anything stressful”

  “Not really…I’m just not interested in the class” I cooed, she chuckled

  “But you need to be interested in this one, we are having Mrs. Webster’s subject. You might not wanna sleep in the class” She winked

  I shrugged

  “Where is Emerald” I asked

  “Oh...she is in the library, assisting the librarian with some things, I should be there but, damn, I hate working in the library, it’s really stressful sorting out those books.” She made a funny face, as I laughed

  Just as we were still talking, Mrs. Webster entered and everywhere became silent.

  “Good day class..today we will be talking about myth” She stated, as everyone brought out their notepad.

  She kept on talking about many things related to the topic, giving us examples, and so on. My mind wasn’t in class, but I can’t just leave. I felt my blood boiling when she classified vampires as part of the beasts; I won’t accept that, too bad they don’t know who I really am.

  “And that concludes the lesson for today, but I’m gonna give you all an assignment, which is to write some history about the mystic creatures I mentioned. You are gonna put down clear details about their cultures, foods, strengths and weaknesses. I will pair you all into groups and you submit your work on Monday, is that clear?” She uttered

  “Yes…” the whole class chorused

  “Gosh...I wish to be paired with the new guy, I’m gonna make sure we f**k before the end of the project” A girl behind me whispered to her friend. As a human, you wouldn’t have heard what she said, but my Vampic ability sold them out. I turned to stare at her, as she gave me a wink. Too bad, she isn’t my type, and she doesn’t even know that I heard her. Emerald is yet to come back, what is taking her so long

  “Gary Jordan and Rose Daniels” Mrs. Webster stated

  “What the hell, I don’t wanna get paired with Rose of all people,” Gary yelled from behind the class, as his friends laughed. Mrs. Webster maintained a straight face

  “Why...if I may ask Mr. Jordan”

  “Well, because…she has a dead breath, I don’t wanna get infected when talking to her” he mocked, as the whole class busted into laughter. I noticed Rose placing her head on the table, she looked embarrassed. I folded my fist and looked behind; Gary was making fun of her vulnerability. I feel like punching him on the face.

  “That’s rude Gary.. Rose is your partner, whether you like it or not”

  “I will prefer Emerald to her” he mumbled from behind, but I heard him clearly.

  “Bastard” I muttered inwardly. I stared at Rose, her head was still placed on the table; she is really strong to endure this kind of embarrassment. I believe some girls would have run out of the class. She is currently sobbing, I feel sorry for her.

  “Is there anyone who hasn’t been paired?” Mrs. Webster asked. I raised my hand up and immediately, Emerald entered, looking sweaty and tired.

  “Oh..Emerald..and the new boy, erm…Dave..you both are partners” She stated and I could swear that my heart leaped for joy.

  But Emerald frowned immediately, stepping in fully

  “I’m sorry Mrs. Webster, but I don’t wanna get paired with Dave” She muttered, as my heart sank back to its bottom.

  “What is wrong with you all, fine….you don’t wanna get paired with him, then the four of you will have to work together, and submit two different results. Gary, Rose, Dave, and Emerald, will work as a team. I will be giving your group three days, instead of five days to submit the result, good day class.” She snapped and was about to leave when another student spoke up

  “Erm..Ma…Crystal is not in school, you didn’t pair her”

  “Hmm…that’s true, she can join Emerald’s group” She stated and walked out. I couldn’t contain my joy, we will have to work together whether she likes it or not.
