"Soul, divine power, and magic?"
He clenched his fist with surprise.
"It feels like there's something else inside my body, but..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Viktor's expression suddenly turned serious.
The itching sensation, which he had thought would subside after the change, suddenly returned with force.
After ignoring other distractions, Viktor quickly pinpointed the source of his body's fluctuating changes.
He made a quiet gesture toward Rachel, then looked up at the metal roof of the abandoned factory warehouse.
Afterward, Viktor gently floated up and drifted toward the factory warehouse's main door.
Nightwing turned off his earpiece and carefully adjusted his position, gncing through the observation hole again.
Raven was left on the open ground while Viktor vanished without a trace.
"Damn it!"
Nightwing quickly considered moving his position but was interrupted by a voice with a hint of teasing.
"What are you doing crouching up here?"
Nightwing froze, instinctively holding his breath, his mind racing for an excuse.
Even though he knew Batman had likely sent him to monitor him, the two had spent three days together in various corners of Gotham.
Viktor must have been familiar with his appearance, voice, and physique.
Given his physical abilities, Nightwing figured his suit and an extra eye mask probably wouldn't fool him at all.
Nightwing awkwardly turned around.
"Well, being a part-time private detective and a superhero seems pretty reasonable, right?"
Then Nightwing realized that he wasn't even looking at him.
Instead, Viktor was solemnly staring at the sky, pointing toward the yellow-green light that was nearly covering half of Gotham.
"What's that?"
A deep, hoarse voice answered his question.
"Green Lantern, and a yellow ring searching for someone capable of spreading fear."
At some point, a dark figure appeared on the edge of the factory roof, vigintly watching him.
Batman stared intently at Viktor's expression and already suspected who the yellow ring was coming for.
He knew what kind of people belonged to the Yellow Lantern Corps, and he knew their methods.
"Spreading fear?"
Viktor looked confused.
In fact, Victor did have some memory of the Yellow Lantern ring and understood why it was now hovering above Gotham.
Since the moment his soul had fully merged, Viktor had rejected the call from deep space.
Of course, that didn't mean the yellow ring would completely give up on finding a host.
On one hand, there was more than one potential candidate in Gotham City, and on the other hand, it could still sense Viktor's presence.
The ring's intelligence program couldn't comprehend why the host who had been so drawn just moments ago now emitted such a vague signal.
"The Yellow Lantern Corps, like the Green Lantern Corps, is a universal organization. But unlike the Green Lanterns, who seek willpower, Yellow Lanterns seek warriors who can spread fear, and it seems like you fit that description."
Batman said, watching him until he stopped observing the light in the sky and turned to meet Batman's gaze.
"I see..."
Viktor said with a realization in his eyes.
"A group that likes spreading fear? It sounds like a made-up version of the Viltrum."
He then gave a meaningful smile to Batman and the slowly retreating Nightwing.
He slowly raised his right hand toward the sky.
The confused yellow ring instantly stopped its erratic movement, and the ring's program finally locked onto Viktor's signal, identifying him as a powerful figure capable of easily spreading fear.
In the ring's recognition system, Gotham City seemed to suddenly light up with a signal that overwhelmed everything around it.
The ring broke free from Green Lantern's frustrated pursuit and rushed straight down without hesitation.
"Intelligent life form detected. You belong to the Yellow Lantern Corps!"
"What are you doing?! Viktor!"
Nightwing shouted in disbelief.
Even though he didn't fully understand what he had been through in the past, Nightwing was shocked to see that the kind young man he spent three days with could make such a choice after learning about the Yellow Lantern Corps.
Batman, standing nearby, remained silent but crouched down, gripping three throwing darts filled with explosive materials.
He showed no surprise or emotion.
Viktor's choice had already appeared in his countless scenarios.
In the sky behind the yellow ring, Green Lantern already ignored Batman's warnings and flown down in anger.
The only one who remained unmoved was Raven who had just exited the factory.
She put her gray robe's hood back on, slightly looked up, and watched the scene above with a bnk face.
"So boring…"
The whole atmosphere came to a sudden stop with a quick change in Viktor's hand gestures.
Just as the yellow ring was about to slip onto his finger, Viktor sharply pulled his arm back, then quickly reached out and gripped it tightly in his fist.
Nightwing almost tripped and fell on the rusty metal sheet from the sudden move.
Green Lantern had already gathered a massive green light fist, swearing to punch anyone who dared to become a Yellow Lantern in his presence.
But as soon as he saw Viktor's movement, Green Lantern stopped midair.
No one knew better than him how hard it was to capture a ring without a host, and even Superman couldn't stop it from forcing itself onto whoever it chose.
However, Viktor managed to easily grab the ring in his hand.
Green Lantern awkwardly cleared his throat.
"Uh, you know, what you're holding is not a toy. It's a very dangerous cosmic-level strategic weapon. Could you... could you please give it back?"
After a brief pause, Batman silently put his throwing darts back into his utility belt.
"Why is everyone so tense? It's just a joke."
Viktor said, shaking his fist, with the yellow light still struggling to escape through his fingers.
"To be honest, these lights do seem to be triggering some evolution in my body. It's quite a rare treasure."
He slowly floated in front of the silent Batman, extending his hand that still gripped the yellow ring.
"But I barely escaped from Viltrum. I'm not about to join another universe organization that spreads fear. The Yellow Lantern Corps? Forget it."
He looked at the silent Batman, then gnced at the descending Green Lantern with a raised eyebrow.
"You guys should be able to take care of this thing, right? Besides, I have some other questions about this yellow ring."
"Take care of it? The radiation from the fear spectrum is extremely dangerous. There's no one on Earth who can handle it—"
Green Lantern was about to insist that he keep the ring and take it back to Oa for proper handling when he saw Batman pull out a bck square box.
Batman's deep voice spoke with certainty.
"Put it in here. This box can block the radiation from the emotional electromagnetic spectrum."
Viktor put it in the box, and Green Lantern stared in shock at the now-silent Green Lantern ring, then his eyes widened in fear as he looked at Batman.
"What? Where did you get that thing from? Oa told me there's no such material in the entire gaxy!"
Batman ignored the shouting Green Lantern, smoothly throwing his cape over his shoulder and leaping off the factory roof.
"Your questions? We can talk about them in the Batcave."
