Morning came, and fortunately, everyone remained safe and well-rested. Before the massive stone gate had sealed shut the previous night, they had been spotted by a fellow group of adventurers who confirmed their theory: the door only opens at night and closes firmly at sunrise.
"Is everyone ready? We’re heading deeper today," Denki announced. The team stood up, their gear polished and their weapons checked.
As the small army began to march, the tension from the previous night started to ease with a bit of banter.
"Brookhan! I’m taking back what I said about letting you punch me," Fodio chirped, eyeing the massive metallic arm. "Why? Scared you'll disappear? Don't worry, you won't even feel the pain! Hahaha!" Grekknark teased. "Hey! I said I'm taking it back!" Fodio snapped. Krizz and Brendarg shared a laugh as they watched Fodio's frantic reaction. "Relax, Fodio. I wouldn't actually do it," Brookhan added with a smirk.
Suddenly, Fodio stopped, scratching the back of his head. "Wait... there’s a staircase going down here." He looked puzzled. "The path has changed since I was last here." "Are you sure about this, Fodio?" Denki asked, his hand hovering near his blade. "There are no other paths, Boss. I don't want our hard work to go to waste—we’re right in the middle of this maze's exit," Fodio replied, though his voice betrayed a hint of doubt. "But stay sharp, everyone."

They tightened their grip on their weapons as they descended the stairs. The passage was pitch black, illuminated only by the narrow beams of their flashlights. After several floors of descent, they reached a landing that stole their breath away.
Brookhan gasped, mesmerized by the view. It was as if they had entered another world. Massive stone structures and floors floated in mid-air within a cavernous, impossibly large chamber. They peered over the edge of the platform they were standing on; below them was nothing but a terrifying, bottomless abyss.
"Fodio... is this really safe?" Denki asked again, his voice echoing. "Yes, Boss! I remember the way now. Only the entrance changed," Fodio answered, though he was still trying to reconcile the layout in his mind. "I’ll go first."
PLAK! Fodio stepped onto a floating tile. "See, Boss? I’m still standing. You just need to be careful and keep your balance."
They resumed their exploration, navigating the surreal landscape. Despite the eerie silence, no enemies attacked as they crossed from one floating platform to the next. Eventually, they reached a massive floor lined with gargantuan statues.
"Bosses! Stay alert. Be ready for anything," Fodio whispered, his ears pinned back.
GRIKK... WOSSHH...
Dust and sand began to fall from the high ceiling. A sudden, unnatural gust of wind swept through the chamber. The silence was replaced by a suffocating feeling of being watched.
CLANK... SHOOOOSH... CLANK! HISSSS...
"Mechanical sounds!" Fodio screamed. "GET READY!!" Denki commanded.
Huge mechanoids dropped from the shadows above, slamming into the floor. They were twice the height of Denki, their frames thick and imposing.
"Wild Corrupts?" Grekknark growled, his eyes widening. "Why are they so huge?!"
"Surprised? Ribbit."
To be continued...
