Chapter 9: The Song of the Fragments
Opening Scene: Inner Sanctuary of Aetherion
Kael sits cross-legged on the smooth stone floor.
Before him rest the two feathers: one pure white, one cracked black.
Selya stands at a respectful distance, her pale eyes watchful.
Both fragments pulse gently, slow, uneven heartbeats.
The wind itself has gone utterly silent, as though the sky is holding its breath.
Selya (voice barely above a whisper):
“If you wish to understand… you must listen.
But know this: the fragments only sing in exchange for a memory.”
Kael (closing his eyes without hesitation):
“Then let them take whatever they want.
I need to know.”
Mental Dive :
The world dissolves.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
Kael is pulled into a spiraling vortex of blinding light and swallowing shadow.
He falls… endlessly…
until he lands in a fractured, timeless place, a broken landscape frozen mid-collapse.
Voices echo from every direction: ancient chants, desperate prayers, raw screams.
Vision 1: The Oath of the Guardians
A circle of radiant beings stands around an enormous azure eye that beats like a living heart.
Each holds a glowing fragment.
They speak in a tongue woven from wind, water, fire, and stone.
> Ancient Voice:
> “The Eye sees everything.
> The Eye feels everything. Too much.
> It must be sealed. Divided.
> So the world may live.”
Kael watches as the fragments are torn free.
The Eye screams ,a sound that cracks the sky itself.
The heavens split.
The seas rise in fury.
Vision 2: The Fracture
A lone hooded figure stands apart, clutching a blackened fragment.
He whispers to the darkness:
> “They were wrong.
> The Eye was never meant to be broken.
> It was meant to be *guided*.”
He drives the fragment into his own chest.
His body convulses.
His eyes flood black.
He becomes… the Broken One.
Vision 3: A Stolen Memory
Kael sees a silver-haired woman cradling an infant.
A hooded silhouette approaches, places a gentle hand on the baby’s forehead.
A tiny azure fragment sinks into the child’s skin, vanishing beneath it.
> Distant Voice:
> “Forgive me, little one.
> You are our last hope…
> and our final sin.”
Violent Return :
Kael screams.
He jerks upright, gasping.
Blood trickles from his nose.
His eyes glow an intense, unnatural blue.
His chest heaves.
Rago (rushing forward):
“Kael! What did you see?!”
Kael (voice shaking, barely his own):
“I… I think I saw… the end of the world.
And the beginning of mine.”
End of Chapter :
Kael stares at his open hands.
The white feather lies in one palm.
The black in the other.
And across the center of his right hand… a new mark has appeared:
a broken circle, like an unfinished keyhole.
Kael (whispering to the silence):
“I was born with a fragment inside me.
And now… I know why they’re afraid.”
