Battle Climax

  The Power Holders.

Known as the foundation of power that kept humanity’s reign upon this world afloat.

Too bad they are all cowards. Thomas signed to himself as he watched the Power Holder escape.

His eyes shifted their focus back to his main objective, the High Lady.

The beautiful damsel was stranded between him and Jonathan.

There may be a distance between him and her, but it was quite easy for him to cross it. As for Jonathan, he could make light work of the High Warrior any time he wishes.

Plus, Racheal and Phillip were free. Killing the Duke's daughter would be quite easy to achieve now.

Too bad those idiots have had their fascination drawn to another thing…

Thomas’s gaze shifted to the main attraction.

  The Blessed.

Correction, the heavenly prodigy. A subtle smile of annoyance slipped into his expression.

Dealing with a Power Holder was hard. It becomes harder based on their affinity and its level of connection towards the various Powers of the world.

Dealing with a Blessed though, was harder. They are literally beings blessed by the heavens with both spectral energy and special abilities.

A heavenly prodigy was way much more of a pain. Blessed not just with the normal package amped up to a greater degree, but also with unusual talent. One cannot forget the fact that they never seem to tire out.

“I met a Heavenly prodigy once before.”

Thomas spread out his arm. His dual longsword floated out to hover by his side, just above his shoulders.

  “Years… no, centuries ago.”

  No reaction came from Zain.

He didn't expect much to begin with.

  “We fought.”

  Thomas continued.

His dual weapons started spinning in the air, a horrific energy grew about him as his fangs elongated.

“And all I have to say is… their blood taste great.”

  Thomas sprung forward.

His blur, hard to track with the naked eyes, was followed by two more blurs.

  His dual weapons.

Which were both then promptly put to a stop as a figure crashed into Thomas.

“His blood is ours!” Racheal hissed into his ears. She pinned him down as Philip shot for Zain instead.

“Fools!” Thomas snarled as both his sword shot down at her, just to be deflected by two blood red shields.

  Meanwhile…

As soon as Thomas made his move, Zain did too.

He had instantly crouched downwards, both hands stretched to the back. Without looking, he grabbed both Jentra and Cera and drew them off the ground.

What followed was blue spectral energy blooming from his whole body.

  Then.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

  He stomped.

He stomped with his right foot.

His body shot upwards, a handful of debris following his ascent.

Philip reached him at that moment. His blood coated claws shooting straight at Zain’s head.

Zain did not bother with the incoming attack. It had missed before it reached.

His left foot found its way to five bigger pieces of rocks amongst the debris and he kicked.

  Each with varying strength.

All in the same direction, forward, but at different angles.

  Philip’s claws closed in.

So did Zain's right foot on the largest piece of debris.

Gently tapping it, he uplifted both himself and his two unwilling passengers above average human height.

High enough for the blood coated claws to completely miss him.

High enough for his next step to gracefully land on his attacker's head.

And so, with his passengers in tow, he stepped on the attacking vampire and pushed off to catch up with his next platform.

  Five rocks. Five steps.

  Less than five seconds.

He landed beside the fanciest carriage around. Beside the High Lady.

“Milady.” He dipped into a low bow towards the High Lady.

  “You don't have to…”

“I know.” He interrupted her. He turned around, completely ignoring the sprawled out Jentra to check on Cera. “Are you okay?”

“That was the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life.” She blurted out. “Is he?”

“Dead?” Zain completed. “Yes he is.”

He turned to look at the distant desecrating body of Philip.

The vampire’s body was still standing, the five holes drilled through him were barely visible to the naked eyes under the darkness of the night.

But Cera's eyes caught it all.

One in the forehead. One in heart. One in the lung. One in the abdomen. One in his crotch.

“Dead? Who?” Jentra sprung up in surprise.

  “Who is th…”

Before Cera could complete her words.

A heart wrenching scream shook the vicinity.

  “Philip!!!”

Zain did not bother to look before tilting backwards slightly.

His eye caught the blood soaked spear as it flashes past him before going on to effortlessly rip through the carriage.

  “Blood Art. Sacrificial Warfare.”

The quiet voice gently spread throughout the camp.

The Moon Lizards which have been docile up till now let out a violent shriek as they were all impaled with a blood spear.

From their wounds, their blood started flowing out, gathering into a huge sphere above none other than Racheal.

“I will kill you and avenge my brother's death.” Her bloodshot eyes were trained on Zain.

“I am no expert in killing me. But I am pretty sure you are going to need more than that.” Zain scoffed as he turned to stare at her.

“Oh, we’ll see.” Racheal gave him a crazy smile. Then, she slits her own throat, followed by both her wrist, letting her black blood spill up into the sphere.

“Blood Art: Blood Empowerment.” Rachael's crazy smile became crazier.

“Vampires have way better basic sensory senses than humans.” Zain started, completely unbothered by her thematics. “This is true even when talking about beings like me, but you see… I have more than the basic sensory senses.”

Zain smirked. “That is why I can do things like this.”

His blue aura erupted and covered his right hand to which he promptly used to slash at his right side, just in front of the High Lady.

  “I missed.” He muttered.

“No, you dodged.” His eyes locked onto an empty area in front of him.

At the exact moment he had slashed out, both Racheal and Jonathan, who was previously battling against the High Warrior, made their move.

They shot towards him with unparalleled vampiric speed.

His brain went into overdrive as he upped his energy circulation.

  …

So, I have to protect three… people from three attacking demons.

One to my exact front, hiding in an illusion.

One approaching from behind them. And the last is flanking me.

Can't forget the opportunist waiting at the sideline.

  Man, this is a hassle.

I knew this mission was not simple, but this is quite hard.

Killing these beings is one thing but protecting people at the same time?

Really. For me to pull this off, I have to perform a miracle or something.

  What if…

  Stagger the idiot in front.

Act as though to finish them off and swerve to the side.

Going straight at the flanking vampire, use the surprise factor and end him immediately.

Unrelenting, go for the screaming idiot with full force.

With both dead, dealing with the invisible vampire would be easy.

  Perfect.

Moves like these could never be seen coming.

Unless they have a mind reader or something.

Worry not though, even at the chance there is one amongst them, they won't waste time reading my mind mid battle.

They won't intentionally split their attention.

I mean, that would be a grave mistake. Against someone that can end them instantly, no one would make such a mistake.

Even if they did, at this point they would have backed out.

  No way they would stay.

Well, they could be overstimulated by the amount of thought processing happening in my head in but a moment. Hence, they might be a tad bit too late in gaining realization.

That would be quite sad because by the time they understand it all…

  …

“Their head would no longer be theirs.” Zain spoke softly, his eyes glued to the fading light in the now visible vampire’s eyes.

  Thud.

The illusion was completely dispelled as her decapitated head fell to the ground. Terror and shock etched onto its features.

“Shock factor attained.” Zain muttered as his unsheathed sword moved again, his body following after.

The sword went through the flanking vampire’s heart before he could fully process it all.

  Instant death.

  Zain was not done though.

“Show your unrestricted strength.” He said to himself as he retrieved his sword and stabbed it out towards his left side.

“What the…” Racheal stared wide at the gaping hole in her chest.

“It is an unfair fight, I possess holy energy. I have an edge over you guys.” Zain's voice drifted over.

She looked up to see him walk ever so slowly to her.

“A couple of centuries in age can not change that.” He stabbed her through the head. “Plus, you guys fight like savages. All brawn, barely any brain.”

  World Building Note:

As one of the most advanced kingdoms ever, Amna boasts more than twenty active teleportation centers.

The mobility brought about by the ancient piece of technology places the Amna army in a never resource-lacking state.

It is said that Duke Star had tried and failed to reactivate the ancient technology pieces present in the Eastern region.

The destruction ridden region was being healed by the great duke, but there were limits it seems.
