Interlude 2

  Interlude 2

Sorry for having things stay at a cliffhanger for a bit longer but it's time for lore and a character's stat sheet! So, to start off with I was asked “why didn't Xion's danger sense go off when she was poisoned?” Well for one it was a sleeping potion and two the skill works based on the users actual perception. Like a sixth sense in a way. Say a knife is thrown at her she'd be able to respond based on sound, instinct and practice. Now try and poison them and the skill doesn't quite work since there's no person actively trying to harm them, doubly so since a sleeping potion doesn't actually harm you.

Now onto the next thing, magic can have two different types of incantations. The first is a condensed version that's pretty quick to use but weaker and relies more on the casters ability to manipulate mana. The second is long verses that are more rigid in how the magic works like Alice's healing spell and mana manipulation isn't as important. Now you could go even further and manipulate mana without a chant but you'd have to build the spell from the ground up and control it completely from start to end otherwise it would fizzle out.

Now I plan on making this a very, very long story that takes years. How long? At least a thousand chapters if not more, so don't worry, this story will take a long time. Now, I know I've apologized for chapters taking so long and you guys getting a chapter more or less every week but this is my first proper story and I'm doing my absolute best to make things enjoyable to read, so, please continue being patient with the speed at which I post chapters. Thank you all in advance.

What is the max level? Well, it's unknown to the characters in the story but for your sake just know it's super, super high. Past level 1000.

Can all stats in the story be trained? Yes! Every single one can. However, physical stats are far harder to train than magical ones and most classes that have free stat points dump them into things like endurance and strength or even intelligence simply because it makes their lives significantly easier in the short term.

Can a class be changed at any point? Yes! A class can be changed, however a class typically is what YOU are as a person. So suffice to say, it's fairly unpleasant having a class that doesn't suit you. A class change can happen at a church or by naturally changing as a person. Say Jean really got into magic, he might qualify to become a spellsword if he went to a church to change classes or if he kept with magic as much as he did swordplay he might have his class change overnight.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Now a class change can be a good and a bad thing. For one your stats will stay the same but the stat distribution will change from then on, so say Jean became a spellblade and had 100 strength. He would keep that strength but would get less per level than he did before because his stats would split between mana more than before as a dark blade.

For context on just how strong 100 strength is, 100 strength would be around peak earth human strength. The same goes for all stats aside from intelligence. Peak intelligence on earth is about 300 but compared to the world of Eis, 100 is considered pretty high for a normal person. Now all classes aren't equal, Xion's class lets her do just about anything in terms of stats and is pretty damn good compared to a regular class like farmer. For context a farmer gets 1 free stat and 5 to Endurance and strength every level. Compared to Xion's 20 free stats and 1 in each this is obviously a huge difference. Now farmers are obviously not meant to beat up monsters and the like, and get skills instead that are tied to their class that let them grow crops year round, faster, and lets massive cities flourish without the industrialization we have ourselves by letting one experienced farmer do the workload of about 50 in the same time.

How does someone regain mana? Good question, multiple ways. There are mana potions, monster meat has higher mana concentrations, the body turns food into mana naturally and there's mana in the air that the body can slowly absorb through the skin. There are areas with higher mana concentration that can slightly increase mana regeneration speed but it's only really noticeable in the long term.

How are monsters born in the world? There are multiple ways, enough ambient mana can form a monster sometimes, they can be born like any living being and dungeons can create them from mana from a ley line they sit on to protect themselves.

Are nobles a type of class? Yes and no. One can obtain the noble class by being noble at heart and has really good skills and stats for governance and protecting one's land. However there is a noble title, the title can be gained by getting land and governing it for at least one year, titles have a myriad of small bonuses and they're only given for noteworthy things such as slaying a dragon. The title would be dragonslayer and give a small stat bonus and a small bonus when fighting dragons.
