Chapter 3: “Death, Actually.”
Scene 1: Stix & Quibble’s Totally Responsible Gun Safety Class
(EXT. Outside Zora’s house – Day. Quibble wears oversized camo and sunglasses. Stix is holding a cartoonishly large revolver.)
Stix: “Rule #1: If it talks, shoot first. If it breathes, shoot first. If it blinks—”
Quibble: “Shoot second?”
Skully: “Shoot poetically.”
(They’re interrupted by a COP NPC who walks up sipping a juice box.)
Cop: “You two got a permit for that?”
Quibble: “Absolutely, officer. It’s… invisible.”
Cop (nodding): “Mhm. Carry on, patriots.” (He walks away humming a patriotic theme that sounds like elevator music.)
Scene 2: A Storm Cracks the Sky
(Lightning strikes. The clouds split. A cloaked figure descends slowly from the sky like a biblical horror filtered through Toon shading.)
Death (distorted): “I am looking… for a home.”
Everyone ran. Princess wanted to know what was all the commotion. Until she saw Death, and smiled.
Princess (cheerfully): “You’re in luck! We’ve got a rental with minimal bloodstains!”
(Rudy watches from a distance, arms crossed, clearly not buying it.)
Scene 3: Rudy Spies
(Rudy sneaks around back while Wade slides in as a puddle beside her.)
Rudy (suspicious): “Who is that guy?”
Wade (quiet): “…Not a guy.”
(Rudy stares at him.)
Rudy: “Who are you?”
Wade: “…Not your average puddle. Nah, I’m Wade, you’re Rudy..”
Scene 4: Death Gets to Work
(While Princess happily shows off town real estate…)
Death kills three residents in a single frame skip. No sound. Just SNAP — and they’re still standing, but hollow-eyed, souls stripped.
(Rudy and Wade run to warn Princess.)
Wade: “PRINCESS!! This ‘guy’ isn’t what he—“
Princess (snapping): “I’m busy! Stop ruining the vibe!”
Scene 5: Death’s Reveal
(Later. Princess asks Death who they are. Death responds:)
Death: “I am Death. I am decay. I am the end without form. I lack any true physical form. I am.. Immortal, as Death, I cannot permanently die. You cannot outrun death or escape it, I always come back.”
Princess (laughing): “LOL. You’re hilarious.”
(Cut to: Zora arriving.)
Zora: “Hey. You’re hot for an entity. Wanna get a drink? Or maybe we could—“
(Death unsheathes a massive scythe. Without warning, slices Zora’s soul from her body. She collapses—empty.)
Scene 6: The Chase Begins
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
(Rudy and Wade gasp, quietly turn to run… SNAP! Wade steps on a twig. Death tilts toward them with a full-body turn.)
(Cue chase sequence: hyper-speed as Rudy and Wade run—leaving afterimages, visual gags, screaming. Stix and Quibble notice and rush over.)
Scene 7: Stix vs. Death (Short-Lived)
(Stix stands tall, conjures black-and-white flames.)
Wade: “RRUUUUUNNN!!! IT KILLED ZORA!”
Quibble: “Woah, it’s the cloaked guy!”
Stix: “Try me, Cloak bastard.. tch.”
(Death grows to 19 feet tall more. Stix’s smirk drops 4 degrees.)
(He throws a fireball. Death teleports behind him.)
(Death swings—Rudy jumps in, flips, and saves him midair.)
Stix (winded): “…That was hot. Thanks?”
Scene 8: Princess’ Last Stand
(Princess arrives, confused by the soul-hollow citizens. She begins a speech.)
Princess: “What the hell?! My people are lifeless!! You…”
Princess: “You absolute clown-shoe edgelord—how dare you come into my town and start—”
(SLASH. Her soul is consumed mid-sentence. She falls.)
Stix: “Holy shi—!”
(Rudy and Stix scream. Flames spiral. Death raises their scythe again.)
Scene 9: Wade’s Turn / Town’s End
Rudy: “I can’t believe we’re going to die by Death itself!”
Stix: “Hey man, look, take the girl, but not me!! I don’t know if you have a bald spot but… it’s okay! I’m bald too! I think..”
Rudy: “Stix! You piece of shit!” she says as she strangled him.
(Splash! A massive wave slams Death, forcing them to look toward Wade 360—now just a watery silhouette in the rain.)
(Death raises their scythe and unleashes an explosion that obliterates Happy Town.)
(Everything goes white.)
Scene 10: The Aftermath
(Rubble. Silence. Rudy, Stix, and Quibble survive. Wade reforms as a puddle.)
(Death floats toward Rudy—towering, unshaken.)
Rudy: “Ugh.. well… better try this out for the first time… been a year since I’ve been to war..”
(Rudy, bruised and furious, punches and kicks Death in the face. They feel it, but remain unfazed.)
Death: “UwaaaaAAAGHHHHH…..”
(Then Rudy sees into their eyes… she sees fractured memories, dying worlds, everything ever lost.)
Scene 11: The Angel
(A blinding light splits the sky again. A golden angelic figure descends—radiant and divine. In one touch, Death is erased.)
Angel: “Be gone!! You death entity!!”
(Happy Town is restored.)
Angel (softly): “Not yet. Not her. Thankfully he didn’t use its own power to force the concept of death onto everyone here! Light is truly the only way out..!”
(It vanishes into the sky.)
Rudy: “Uh.. we all saw that… right?”
Stix: “I don’t want to remember this day…”
Quibble: “Boy, this Chapter was really… killing me..!”
He looks towards the readers.
Scene 12: Closing – Carrie’s Ritual
(Carrie returns from her trip, sipping a soda.)
Carrie: “Everyone’s dead again? Ugh. Hold on, I know a ritual.”
(Cue bizarre chalk circle, upside-down gospel music, and a bag of marshmallows.)
(Souls restored. Residents dazed but fine.)
Stix: “Next time I say ‘what’s the worst that could happen’—hit me.”
Rudy (quietly): “I think I just fought death.”
Carrie: “Yeah, but..”
FINAL SHOT: Lore time.
Quibble and Rudy: “But..?”
Carrie: “Well… Death isn’t really gone, you know? It’s not just some spooky figure—it’s actually both the idea of death and the thing itself. Obvious, I guess! Haha. My mom told me that Death can change how you see it, like… you might see a man, or a woman, or something else entirely. But really, gender doesn’t mean anything to Death anymore. Neither does age! He—or they, or whatever—don’t have an age.”
Stix: “Wait what..? Why are we still on thi—“
Rudy strangles Stix.
Rudy: “SHUT UP!! Go on, Cassie…”
Carrie: “Will dooey-do! Their size you may ask? Totally up to them. And reality? Oh, it bends around them like water or clay. I heard that just looking at Death erased two whole universes once. Like…… poof. But the only reason they’re not just… tearing through everything? It’s because of our Hourglass God. That’s the one thing keeping it all from falling apart. To erase Death, you have to destroy the concept of it (including all 16 souls he has and his mind), you can’t inflict Death onto them—they aren’t bound by it.”
Quibble: “I don’t want to die!!! Oh wait… we can’t.. anyways, what does the readers think!?”
Stix: “Readers..? What are you— oh forget it.. I’m going to sleep..”
Narrator: “Yawn.. morning!— wait… where is everyone?? Wait-! Don’t go! Come back I need to narrate something!! Aw.. they can’t hear or see me..”
